Shampoo bars

I use gruum too and I think they're absolutely great, although I was a reluctant convert as I thought they were very expensive. However the shampoo lathers well and lasts for ages. I also use the conditioner bars which are equally as good.

PS I didn't get on with the conditioner at first but realised I wasn't using enough!

I was given a gruud set for Christmas and I found didn’t last body and shower bars lasted me just over a week and had no lasting smell and the shampoo lasted me two hair washes and made my hair like a scarecrows took me ages to get the dryness out of my hair. I do like lush ones they leave a lasting smell like I’ve had a wash I don’t like something that doesn’t leave a smell on my body it makes me feel clean I do like Molten brown ones

Have used shampoo bars along with conditioner bars for at least four years now, hair feels great. No more itchy scalp from harsh chemicals, no disposing of even more plastic , lasts ages. Little tip for the conditioner bars that I read about and do now as their not so easy to apply is to rub the bar over your head/hair, works a treat.

Yes, I had some for Christmas too and they do last for ages. My hair is dry though and I haven’t found one that is sufficiently moisturising for me. If you know one that might work I’d be grateful for the name. They are good for holidays, lighter and less fragile than bottles, and as you point out, better for the environment.

It’s around £8 so not cheap but it lasts ages and I find it great for my older, drier hair. It seems to perk up grey hair too.

I don’t use Lush any more, since finding out they were selling breast binders to children without their parents consent. They were offering collection points so that parents were unaware of what was going on and collecting information about the people buying the products so they knew where to find them with advertising campaigns. They also donate a proportion of their profits to organisations like Mermaids and Stonewall.

I’m currently using a shampoo bar by Aveda which is excellent. Quite pricey but lasts for ages. I haven’t tried the conditioner yet.

Does anybody know if there's a shampoo bar that also colour protects?

I use the Ethique purple shampoo bar for grey hair. I find it very effective on my very long coarse grey hair which I wash every 5 to 7 days. I use a colour depositing conditioner by Overtone which unfortunately does not yet come as a bar.

Yes, it started with a present, but now I buy mine from Lush, they re quite pricey but they do last a long time and are convenient nd light to pack when on holiday - I love it!

LOVE them! No plastics, no waste, gentle on the skin, lasts for up to 6 months on washes every 3 days. I find they do lather but gently and don't aggregate my skin problems as much as bottled, liquid shampoos. A win, win situation!!

Keffie12 - I like that you are conserving in many other ways in order to continue using your shmp/cond in bottles. People can compensate in other areas to cut down on plastic trash.

I’m with you! I cannot trade my current brand for anything else as my grey hair needs attention.

My favorite A La Maison bars are too silky soft and moisturizing for hair to be properly cleaned. ✨ My bars are excellent for face washing - gentle and moisturizing. Lots of lather and rinses to squeaky-clean ✨

I purchase my A La Maison bars at TJ Maxx (aka Marshall’s). I believe you have that chain over there.

Saw these the other day and wondered whether to try one, I do use a leave on coconut spray conditioner from Tesco after shampooing anyway because my hair isn't in the best condition, I still would use my other shampoo for 2 or 3 days a week as it seems to have stopped my hair clogging up my hairbrush
