Shampoo bars

I was given a couple of shampoo and conditioner bars by Lush for a Christmas gift two years ago. Loved them so much and they lasted ages and ages - so much so I requested them again for last Christmas and gratefully received them in new perfumes to try. They leave my hair beautifully soft and manageable.

Yes, I had some for Christmas too and they do last for ages. My hair is dry though and I haven’t found one that is sufficiently moisturising for me. If you know one that might work I’d be grateful for the name. They are good for holidays, lighter and less fragile than bottles, and as you point out, better for the environment.

Have wondered about shampoo bars cos they seem to be better value.

Have a look at the Funky Soap Company. It's based in London. I have had a couple of bars from them, and they lasted for ages.

I've tried several and found most quite drying. Sods law, I found one that was good, but... forgot to note the packaging so now I can't remember which it was!

I’ve used them for years and love them! They’re good value for money and there are so many more available now compared to when I bought my first, from Lush.

For reasons I forget now, I’ve currently got liquid shampoo and I can’t wait until it’s finished and I can get started on my next bar shampoo.

The bar conditioners I don’t find so good for my wiry hair so I’ve started using a hair mask. It’s like a concentrated conditioner so although it’s in a plastic tub, it lasts much longer than a bottle so I hope is less environmentally unfriendly.

I use a coconut one that is just £1 from Savers. No need for conditioner. Love it.
No they don't lather up but that is just a chemical effect as is conditioner. It just leaves your hair clean and smelling good.

I've been using a L'Occitane shampoo bar for ages. It's one of my luxuries. It's expensive but used twice a week it literally lasts for months. It suits my hair and lathers beautifully in our hard water.

I am now officially a convert- found Alberto Balsam bars in Tesco this morning for £3. Will try it out this evening.

I tried the Lush bars and took them on holiday .
They were great .

I love the Garnier Ultimate Blends bars, especially the one that smells of ginger - I hate my hair smelling of flowers or perfume, but the ginger is lovely. Leaves my slightly greasy hair clean and fresh, and keeps it clean much longer than any bottle shampoo I have ever tried.

I have been buying the coconut ones from B&M, cheap as chips but excellent

I like gruum for shampoo bars. My favourite is the lemon brightening one, really suits my hair. They often have a deal on for a free shampoo bar, just pay postage of £3.95 so good value. Lasts ages too.

Love using a shampoo bar and helping the environment at the same time. The one I use lathers well, but I tried conditioner bar and didn’t like it at all.

I use the lavender and geranium bar from Friendly Soap Ltd.
Only £2.95. It gives a lovely squeaky clean finish.

Having tried a few when they first came out and been disappointed. Either left my hair like straw or just wouldn’t rinse out, even with a vinegar and water rinse. Finally I found KinKind bars and chose the Shine one. It lathers beautifully, rinses out cleanly and leaves my hair soft and smooth. I’ve yet to find a bar conditioner that I like though so still using the bottled variety, though only a tiny amount.

I've used one from a small independent shop online and it was awful, but I've found the Garnier one much better. It's the only one available from our local shops so can't try any others.

I find them awful. I've tried a few but they all left my hair feeling really greasy and lank.

I like them; only problem is they usually break up, so I have a small lightweight net bag for the pieces, and rub that over my wet hair. They seem to work well and leave my hair clean and shiny, and they do last for months.
