Do you use the same starting word, or do you have a few, or use random ones?
I’ve been using really random ones recently

I fared worse when I tried using the same start word with lots of vowels.
I seem to do better with a random word to begin.

A grade B for me today. If only I’d plumped for the answer in line 3 instead of its ‘close cousin’ - but there you go!

Embarrassed to say I'm the dunce of the class today, I failed ?. I had three green correct letters in the right place from second guess but then no yellow letters to help until my last incorrect guess. Ho hum I'll do better tomorrow ?

Yep. Totally agree. I think it’s lucky if letters appear in the first line, but thereafter knowledge and skill are required. If it’s a matter of luck whether or not I choose the correct answer from more than one possible, the act of “solving” the puzzle has been lost iyswim.

Luck on the first line with 3 letters that easily rearranged to give me the start of the word. It was hard going after that.

6 today couldnt get that 4th letter until 6th attempt

I think it was a difficult one today unless you were lucky enough to have the more unusual letter in the right place. I was lucky there, hence I got a B.
