Dost thou love thy neighbour?

I've only ever had one nightmare neighbour and that was 40 years ago. Since then, I've been blessed with lovely, friendly and supportive neighbours, although I currently have one that could mither a growing tree!

No wonder our planet is dying with idiots like that selfishly living on it

We have great neighbours now but when we lived in a previous property we had a woman who was a nightmare - certainly didn’t miss her when we moved

Most of the neighbours I get on with in the close (one family I am distantly related to) One family only moved in last week (predecessor never actually saw, let alone spoke to!) .
Immediate neighbours - one side moved in about six weeks ago and seem really nice, the other side that we are attached to as we live in a semi are fine on the whole - apart from their constant DiY!
They have lived there for nearly 3 years and quite honestly, there has hardly been a week when there hasn't been hammering or worse, drilling! They are all heavy smokers as well, so sitting outside in my garden isn't as pleasant as it used to be before they moved in!
I eventually had to go and speak to them about the constant noise after several weeks of having to abort zoom calls and skype calls for a course that I have been studying over the last 6 months. I did ask if they were trying to expand their house into mine as it sounded like they were trying to drill through the wall completely!
Since then thankfully it has been quieter but the man now has the rather creepy habit of wandering into their front garden, fag in hand, to see if he can see me in our living room or if there are any of our windows open!

I noticed that the neighbours who had the tree pruned have their gate attached to next doors house wall! Maybe their gate post will become ‘detached’ at some point and they will be wondering why!!

People who actually like their neighbours are few and lucky, I'd say. ?

Yes, I saw that picture in one of the national newsapapers, so childish to say the least, and what about the poor birds that are nesting! Nowt so queer as folk,

One side of us we hardly ever see, young family but child never plays in garden, very quiet just the occasional hello if we see them out front. Other side, very messy ,sort that start a job but never finish it. Fairly quiet, he cant decide if he identifies as male or female which took us a while to get our heads around but they are friendly enough. Others on street say hello when passing but we are not close to anyone and would not dream of going to any of them in an emergency. Not much of a sense of community sadly.

I found the tree story quite funny,but I wish birdsong was the only problem I had with my neighbours.We live in council properties,my neighbours have learning difficulties,so they leave rubbish lying around,we have had rat problems.Their garden is overgrown,their house is a mess.They have net curtains that have never been washed,yet they can hang up lights at Christmas.The council just collect the rubbish every few weeks,they can't use their bins at all.I have to put up with it,as the council can't do anything about it as they have disabilities and can't be upset.

Absolute **holes!

The birds will still be there singing in the bit left. They will still hear them. They are mad...quite mad. I have a lovely neighbour

The problem is if you have a run in with neighbours over anything when you come to sell there is a specific question you have to answer on the standard legal enquiries about neighbour disputes and if you don't say and the buyer later discovers that you didn't give honest answer they can sue you but even before that, any details of disputes could put buyers off at an early stage when they see that there could be a looming issue. They're more likely to go after a problem free home. So best policy is sell before you complain or say or do anything!!

I get on with my neighbours.

We have lovely neighbours on both sides and along the road.
The birds that make a mess on our cars are gulls. I often wonder if they do it as a punishment because they can’t use the bird feeders in the garden.

I thought I got on with my neighbours until they made a complaint directly to the council about our noisy dogs….they had already raised the issue three times in 8 weeks with us directly…. We have two adult spaniels, but my daughter and her partner have moved back in on a long temporary basis (about 18 months) and they purchased two mini sausage pups who do have a tendency to yap. At the time of the first two complains I apologised profusely and explained about the puppies and on the third occasion I apologised again and sent flowers and a sorry card, a week later I received a letter from the dog warden at the council stating a neighbour had complained about “noise nuisance” from the dogs !

Interestingly I work from home full time so I know whilst they do play and bark they also sleep at lot and most of the day they are in with me, in the room I work from, which includes me attending lots of online meetings and phone calls If they were as noisy as they believe for as long as they believe I wouldn’t be able to work with them in with me.

Can you get a Tree Preservation Order put on the oak tree? Honestly I despair at the philistinism of people!! So mean and petty-minded too. And where do people think we get the oxygen to breathe?? More education needed, I think.

We have the neighbours from hell; why do people think it’s a good idea to have wooden floors upstairs in a semi-detached house. We are woken at the crack of dawn with the children dropping building bricks on the floor. Could they not put a rug down? The noises early and late have made us think about moving after being here for 30+ years. Grrrrr

I used to work with a male nurse who’s name was Arthur Tree.

When my husband died, I had the inevitable 'Oh you'll move now I expect' from several people. Well I didn't and this was because not only do I love my home but because I have fantastic neighbours who've watched out for me and gone over and above neighbourliness in the lockdowns.

No people both sides miserable no hello or chat but quiet so no real problem ?

I would love them if they moved out.

We have the strangest neighbours!

Yesterday he was sat on a folding garden chair in the middle of the pavement right outside our gate. She was on another folding chair on the pavement on the other side of their gateway! They were there for over 2 hours and only moved when the school children started coming past on their way home.
