Good morning from a dry almost sunny Leicestershire.

Blood test this morning then a meal out tonight.

I do hope Gilly got her tooth fixed. It is not what she needs right now.

DoraMarr Mon 23-Dec-19 08:49:35

Ah, Kate Atkinson will have to wait. I am going over to collect my two year old grandson so my daughter can go shopping with just the baby, since her husband is ill. So my quiet afternoon will now be spent racing after an active little boy in the park.

Goodmorning Mick And all x

Mick enjoy Christmas at your sisters.

Wishing all those with hospital appointments, go smoothly.

I do hope gillybob has managed to get treatment for her tooth and swollen face.

I have four gammons to cook today, (one for us the others for AC) and then I shall make mince pies (puff and shortcrust).

GS is coming for a sleepover later, haven't had his dinner request yet, but short it will be interesting.

Happy Christmas all ??

Good morning everyone!
Beautiful morning in Suffolk so I shall walk the Granddog and do some baking today. I hope you have a good Christmas Mick and best wishes to all the travellers.

Good Morning from a dry Bristol.
Housework for me today and sorting things out for the big day, such a busy time for one day but I love it.

I wish everyone a safe journey on these busy Christmas roads.
Enjoy your visit to your sister Mick.

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s damp but at least the sun is shining- that said there are grey clouds yonder.

We’re popping over to our youngest daughter in an hour to mind the grandchildren while she nips out for secret bibs and bobs. Son in law finishes tonight for Christmas.

It’s nearly here!
???

We are meeting up with old friends tonight in a new bar.

Safe journeys to all of you on the roads today at least the weather seems milder. Enjoy your Christmas visit to your sister Mick and thank you for ‘opening up’ all this year. I think a lot more posters have joined your lovely thread. It’s one of my favourites!

I missed the post about gillybob I hope she’s okay.

Hope Monday is kind to us all whether we have plans or none. x

Good morning from a very wet and windy Glasgow.

The scratchy throat, high temp. has returned! Only plan for today now is to stay indoors, plenty of honey and lemon etc., etc. All other plans will have to wait as I try and work some magic to nip this in the bud ?. Failing that, DH has offered to pop out with the ‘list’?.

I hope gilly is doing ok today and things haven’t gone from bad to worse in her effort to receive urgent treatment for her abscess.

JenniferEccles Mon 23-Dec-19 09:49:46

Another one waiting for news from gillybob
She posted for advice about her swollen face and infected tooth on the Health thread yesterday, and was told by most to go to A and E immediately.
A lot said it could potentially be very dangerous if the infection was left any longer.
I hope she did go.
How much more is that poor woman expected to take?

Good morning from a damp morning in Cheshire. Thank you Mick for keeping this happy. friendly thread going all year. Enjoy Christmas with your sister.

A later than usual start for me as weekend exhausted me. Like so many others, just some last minute food shopping this morning. Dropping my DD and GS at the cinema to watch Star Wars whilst I go to the hairdressers to get my hair and nails done.

Hope Gilly has sorted her troublesome tooth and Mr G is feeling much improved. All who are feeling under the weather have a much better day. My GS is recovering from a cold and going to bed last night said, 'I need to get excited about Christmas now'. Bless him.

Happy Christmas to all on Gransnet. I read this thread every morning but don’t often comment. South Yorkshire is wet and very windy. We were away for a night at the weekend so I have just picked up a very excitable, wet muddy dog from the kennels at our local farm. Drinks at my niece’s later and saying hello to her sisters and dad who are staying with her over Christmas. Always a poignant time since mum, my sister passed away in 2016. The children all lighten the party and the noise is usually loud enough to need the hearing aids turned down!

Summerfly Mon 23-Dec-19 10:56:46

Good morning Mick and all posters. Dry and fairly bright here in Cumbria this morning.
Although I’m relatively new on here I do feel as if I’m getting to know you all and making lots of new friends. I don’t comment every day but I love reading all your posts.
Hope your appointment goes well Marydoll and that you’ll be home and cracking on as usual. Kalu, keep up with copious amounts of honey and lemon. It’s the best treatment for sore throats.
Busy day for me. Last minute shopping then home to do the ironing and hopefully get everything packed for our journey tomorrow.
Hope the day goes well for everyone.

Happy Christmas to all. mick thank you for this thread - it is always a safe and kind place. Enjoy visiting your sister.

Kalu Mon 23-Dec-19 11:23:52

Thank you Summerfly. I’m drowning in the stuff! Salt gargles also helping the scratchy throat?

Hoping you have a smooth journey and enjoy your festive break.

Luvinthis Mon 23-Dec-19 14:48:07

I'm another regular reader who doesn't often comment. Had exciting news last night that DD3 has given birth to her first baby, my 3rd DGC in a year but the first girl. I'm so excited and loo king forward to meeting the new addition later today ???

Nannytopsy Mon 23-Dec-19 14:53:44

Congratulations Luvinthis !!

Good Day to All x

Not long sat down after a busy morning but hey-ho, if I can get cracking I must be alright ( healthwise )
It's been a lovely day here, sorry I didn't have a bit of washing out, it would have dried with the stiff, but keen breeze.

I tied a few lose ends as soon as I got up this morning, then hopped off to Asda for another turkey after having left the freezer door not properly shut the other night I hadn't fancied a frozen/thawed/frozen on ! My D is going to put it in her freezer for the dog. I replaced it this morning with a fresh one so feel ready to go now, and relieved.

I was nearly 2 hours waiting in the checkout queue alone and after all that---forget to get cream so another trip first thing. Step-D will be here tomorrow afternoon to spend Christmas with me, so looking forward to that. There's enough food here to sink a ship ! Ridiculous. Whatever's left I'll give to my GD.

Will ice the cakes later, one is for my GD and her gang and I'd like to think I'll be making some mince pies too, but there's always tomorrow smile

I hope poor Gillybob has managed to do something about that mouth of hers as she doesn't want any more suffering, especially over Christmas too. xx Keep up the good work Mr Gillybob, you're doing fine.

Try and take it easy now and again everyone else, have a drop of brandy it's got health benefits !!
Enjoy your stay with your sister Michael, that's lovely for both of you.

Take care travelling to those who are going away.

hulahoop Mon 23-Dec-19 16:45:08

Summerfly Mon 23-Dec-19 17:26:40

Congratulations Luvinthis. Hope your DD and her new baby girl are well. Cuddles a plenty in store for you!

Nortsat46 Mon 23-Dec-19 17:32:29

Leaving a message for Mick, (though he may not see it as he is probably enroute to his sister), to join with others in thanking him for opening this lovely thread every day during the year. It is by far my favourite thread and I always read it. Indeed when I open GN, as I drink my morning coffee, I save the Good Morning thread to last and enjoy the gentle pleasantries and people’s good wishes to each other.

I don’t always post, but I always read. So I add my thanks to Mick and all the GM contributors.
I too am pleased that a deputy has been nominated. ?
