We will miss your postings Mick. Have a lovely Christmas with your sister.

A(nother) busy day for all no doubt- whatever you are planning today do try and make some “me time” - even if it is only a cup of tea and a mince pie!

kittylester Mon 23-Dec-19 06:30:44

Morning mick, culpurnia (are you new? Welcome, where are you?) Morning all.

North Leicestershire is quite cold. Up early as dh is doing some volunteer driving this morning and has to leave home at 7.45 tchshock

My job today is to locate enough plates, serving dishes, glasses and cutlery for Christmas day! And then panic!

Enjoy your days. Hoping gilly and her tooth are ok.

Good Morning everyone from a dark and once again damp Severnside. Some sun forecast for later.

A day of pottering is on the cards for me today.

Enjoy your Christmas with your sister Mick and hope all have a good day with last minute preparations etc. I also hope that gilly has been able to get her tooth and swelling seen to.

Good morning all and safe journeys to all setting off to be with their families for Christmas.
As DGS will no doubt tell me - 2 sleeps to go!
Lovely afternoon at Snape Maltings yesterday - a bit of present shopping by DD - mostly of the alcoholic type, then a lovely start to Christmas with a performance of Roald Dahl’s Red Riding Hood accompanied by the orchestra, followed by the film of The Snowman, also with the orchestra and a very talented girl singer.
So back home later this morning, change of bags, load car with more presents, venison casserole, red cabbage, raised pie etc and set off for Birmingham tomorrow.
Hoping any flooding on the roads has abated and that we don’t see rain today!
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning all from a wet and dark Glasgow.
Enjoy your visit to see your sister Mick.

Kitty, I'm doing the same job as you today, as all my plans went pear shaped yesterday, when DS2 appeared and stayed for hours. He usually pops in with his partner and stays about an hour.
I thought he was going to impart some bad (or exciting) news, but no, he was just in for a chat. So unlike him, he is the total opposite of me, the original quiet man.

I have the cardiac clinic today, which is all all I need two days before Christmas, I'm fed up with all these medical appointments. Ungrateful I know, but I crave some free time, just to be able to sit and read a book or watch a film.
I'm hoping it will be quieter than usual and that there is a slight chance of a parking space.
I will then ice my Chrismas cake when I get back.... I hope! grin

I'm very worried about Gilly, as there has been nothing from her , since she was advised by everyone to go to A&E.
What a terrible time she is having. sad

Enjoy your day all.

Mapleleaf Mon 23-Dec-19 07:21:42

Good morning,

Up early as I'm planning on getting to the supermarket 8 ish to get the veggies and other perishables, as I don't fancy doing battle tomorrow. The store has been open since 5 am and stays open now until midnight tomorrow, would you believe!! ( It then opens Boxing Day - ridiculous, really).
Once I've been there, that's it shopping wise until well after Christmas for me.

We had a nice weekend away, Saturday we had a Christmas lunch on a steam train, stayed overnight in a B & B and then yesterday drove over to spend the afternoon with my sister and her DH, which was lovely. Today, once the shop is done, is going to be relatively lazy. I'll do a bit of baking and that's about it until early evening when we are popping round to friends for an hour.

Enjoy your week away with your sister, mick, and happy Christmas to you.

Hope everyone has a good day, and anyone feeling unwell, I hope you soon feel better.

DoraMarr Mon 23-Dec-19 07:26:57

Good morning from Birmingham, where there is a glimmer of light in the east, and it has stopped raining.
I had a lovely time yesterday at our annual family get-together. It was nice to see family members I don’t see very often, and the three little cousins had a wonderful time playing with each other.
I have to pick up my prescription today, but apart from that I have a free day until I go to my partner’s this evening. I’m actually going to sit on the sofa and finish my Kate Atkinson!
I hope Gilly gets some relief, and Maw safe journey. Enjoy your Christmas, Micheal, and Marydoll what a bore, but at least you are being looked after. Have a good day everyone!

cornergran Mon 23-Dec-19 07:35:12

Morning Mick, morning All. Dark and it looks damp in our corner of Somerset. Should be dry later. Meeting a friend for a late lunch but that’s it for today. Safe journeys mick, maw, and all travelling. Good luck to those about to cater for friends and family. I’m also concerned about gilly, hope she got to A&E. Hope Monday is kind to everyone.

NanKate Mon 23-Dec-19 07:35:18

Morning Mick and All.

Pleased you have a deputy appointed Mick. Have a good holiday at your sister’s home.

A bit of cloud but mainly clear sky in South Bucks. Setting off for Sussex today. Feel sad for DS and us that our 2 DGSs won’t be with us till Boxing Day , but I am in mind that many people don’t see their grandchildren at all, so we must just wait for an extra day before they come bursting through the door and mayhem will be restored. ?

Hope your cardiac clinic appointment is uneventful Mary. I have organised for Rufus Sewell to pop by Kitty with everything you need for Christmas Day (plates etc and a quick kiss under the mistletoe ?).

Hope poor Gilly gets her tooth infection sorted.

Safe journey for all of us travelling today.

Good Morning form a dark and damp Fife once again. Had a lovely time yesterday in Dunblane with family members, sad without my Aunt and of course she was with me all afternoon in my thoughts. Her family did very well though. Mick - enjoy your time away at your sisters. Marydoll I hope hospital is quieter today for you and you get back home to do all your Christmas preps. I am again out to the shops for last minute stuff and I am going to cook my ham with Maple Syrup, first time usually do it in Cider. I too hope Gilly is ok, hopefully we shall hear soon. For all those travelling to relatives for Christmas, safe journey. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! smile. Have a good day everyone.

kittylester Mon 23-Dec-19 07:43:37

Oooooohh, kare, I've come over all unnecessary- I wont get anything done. tchblush

I came back because I forgot to wish Mick a happy Christmas and a lovely time with his sister.

Good morning all from a still dark and damp-looking Northampton.

A lovely day was had yesterday. DS and family picked me up at 10am, then we headed into town where we met DD and her husband for an enormous brunch (with Prosecco!). Then to the theatre where we watched DGD dance in her panto. It was quite the best panto I've seen in years, all the traditional stuff you expect and lots of audience participation. Of course DGD danced brilliantly! (but I would say that, wouldn't I?) She still has two more performances this week.

A quiet day ahead for me. Will do some washing and tidying up and run the Hoover over downstairs. May watch a film on tv this afternoon.

Best wishes to all for a good day, and safe journeys to those who are travelling.

Good morning from Shropshire.
We have to stay in this morning as DH is expecting a phone appointment with the hand surgeon.I feel it would be better if someone actually looked at his hand after surgery but hey ho have to assume they know what they are doing.?
Safe travels to Mick,Maw,NanKate and anyone else travelling today.
Sending good wishes to all with worries?
Hope we hear from gilly and that she has had some relief from her dreadful toothache.

NannyJan53 Mon 23-Dec-19 08:07:24

Good Morning from a brighter Black Country.

Dropped Partner off at the train station at 7.10am then tootled along to Sainsburys to fill up car with petrol. I was amazed how busy the car park was so early. Must be Christmas smile

A walk into town today to Aldi to buy last minute fresh food, then I am done!

Have a lovely Christmas with your sister Mick

I obviously missed about ^gilly and A&E. I hope all is well, she is in my thoughts every day.

Wishing everyone a good day, and safe travels for all who are visiting family and friends.

Grammaretto Mon 23-Dec-19 08:11:56

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Christmas eve's eve!
We are going away for the first time in years so it feels strange without preparations. It's not cold either.
Have a great time Mick and all the posters.
I hope Santa brings you what you hoped for, especially Gilly smile

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s dry and clear.
Another late night for me. There was a fundraiser in the village pub for MND last night. We came second in the quiz and I won a bottle of pink fizz for a line in bingo!
Nothing much on for me today. Shopping all done, presents wrapped etc. Heading off to DD’s tomorrow.
Safe travels to those on the move.
Hope Gilly got some help .
Have a good day everyone.

harrigran Mon 23-Dec-19 08:26:39

Good morning from an overcast NE.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny Essex by the sea. I am off to the supermarket soon, I am expecting it to be really busy. DH is going to try and see his dentist, I fear he has left it a bit late.
Two more gammons to cook later, we have already cooked two, these are for two of our four girls.
Washing and ironing to do then we will sit back and relax !!!
Safe travels to anyone with a journey today and a pleasant day to you all.

Mythbirtthedragon Mon 23-Dec-19 08:29:48

Good morning from east London, it’s getting bright outside and no rain. The mini lakes on the playing field are disappearing. Final cake is in the oven and I haven’t run out of grease proof yet. Tennis session at lunchtime, then a little bit of last minute shopping - can’t make cranberry source without ruby port. Have a good day.

Yiayia4 Mon 23-Dec-19 08:31:56

Morning all dull but dry in Derbyshire.
We have had a lovely weekend here, Nottingham was very busy yesterday but very festive. Not looking forward to the drive home and hope not too many delays.

Have A great Christmas Mick and hope Gilly is O.K.
Have a good Monday everyone.

mancgirl Mon 23-Dec-19 08:35:21

Good morning all. Trees are blowing so I'm guessing it's windy. A pottering about day today after a whirlwind last week. Went to see Six on Friday. I had no idea what it was about other than Henry Vlll's wives. Turned out to be a sort of rock musical - it was fab! Bit of ironing today, one gift to wrap and that's it - I hope! Might set the table for Christmas day later as we are at the Bridgewater Hall tomorrow afternoon with family for Christmas music and won't be back until early Christmas day. Safe journey to those travelling, hugs to those whose for whom Christmas will be a difficult time, love and best wishes to all.

Greyduster Mon 23-Dec-19 08:36:24

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Happy Christmas, Mick; enjoy your time with your sister.
Dry and cloudy and in Cornwall this morning. It was a wild night and there is still a stiff breeze but the sea seems calmer. Not sure what we are doing today. May go out for lunch somewhere. Have a good day folks.
