Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, it has been wet overnight here in Brackley this morning.
Today, somewhat busy , a quick weekly shop for essentials like milk , and I have to vacate my flat so the electricians can come in and renew the smoke alarm system, this means approx. 2 hours siting in the building open lounge , whilst they do the work, and then once done back into my routine for today.

Don't go Gabriella/G54. You bring life and interest into what can sometimes be a bland forum. I often disagree with you and sometimes want to spit feathers but will miss you if you go.

gillybob Fri 22-Nov-19 09:27:12

Thank you everyone again.

Yes there will be many weeks ahead still in hospital. He has lost over 3 stones in weight that he could not afford to lose . He hasn’t eaten or drank anything in 8 weeks and they tell me he will almost undoubtedly have lost his ability to swallow which has to be retaught . I also fear for his mental health as I have read up quite a lot on “life after life support” which after this long, almost always results in some kind of PTSD

He also still hasn’t had the original operation he has waited so long for and won’t be able to have it for many months yet following major pelvic surgery.

Not even sure if I would trust having surgery again (in that hospital....my crossing out thingy doesn’t work) but that’s all for another day.

Today I am just celebrating my DH being off that ventilator . For good this time I hope . ?

Brilliant news Gilly
You have had so much love , prayers and support, it really does seem to work.
May it now proceed at a slightly faster pace.

Mapleleaf Fri 22-Nov-19 09:31:49

Good morning,

It's dry now, but still grey and damp, but slightly warmer than of late.

So pleased to read your news, gilly - things are starting to look more positive and I send you my best wishes and prayers.

Sorry you've decided to leave again, GabriellaG54, but you have to do what you feel is best for you.

Hope today is kind to us all.

EllanVannin Fri 22-Nov-19 09:32:29

Blimey, what was all that about GariellaG54 ?
I can remember the time when I was paying 40% tax ! Now that was something to grouse about !

Good Morning All x
Dullish and damp on the Wirral but doesn't feel as cold as it did yesterday.
Had a visit from D and one GGC yesterday afternoon. The child has been waiting for a placement to attend a " special school " and meantime has only been attending his mainstream school for a couple of hours a day until then.
He's like a different child with my D and away from his siblings, as they all are when on their own.

It's just one of the children who's driving everyone mad with her extreme behaviour and who's becoming more difficult. Some respite is badly needed for the family but the professionals don't see this. If she was taken out of the equation then the rest of the family would be fine. Mental health in this country needs priority and sorting out now. I fear for her future as her " meltdowns " are uncontrollable.

I hope things continue to level out for Gillybob. xx There's no harm in having a laugh with the nurses, in fact it'll do you good to have your mood lifted to pass on those positive vibes for your DH which will help him too. Never feel guilty for laughing.

Hope everyone's day goes well and improves for those who are under the weather.

Gilly so pleased for you only way is up now X

Thorntrees Fri 22-Nov-19 09:33:24

So glad to hear of this better news gillybob.
Will keep the thoughts and prayers coming for the strength you will both need for the long road ahead.
Take care.

JenniferEccles Fri 22-Nov-19 09:38:45

So pleased to hear your good news gillybob What a relief for you after so many weeks of fear and anguish. I do hope this is the start of a good recovery for your husband.

Gabriella please stay! I know the thread you were referring to and there were some nasty, silly snide comments from some but you shouldn’t let them drive you away.

Your posts were never boring and although you could be controversial at times, so what?

Most folk enjoy reading different opinions and it is such a shame that a few seem to delight in chipping away at you purely because they disagree with you.

Please don’t let the nasty minority win Gabriella. You have a lot of friends on here who enjoy your contributions.

Never “Adieu” GabriellaG - just au revoir ?

harrigran Fri 22-Nov-19 09:39:44

Lovely to hear your better news Gilly, I am so relieved for you. I know it is going to be a long road to recovery but everything seems to be going in the right direction ♥️

merlotgran Fri 22-Nov-19 09:42:08

Fab news, gilly. You must be so relieved. Make sure you focus a bit on your own health now. PTSD symptoms don't just apply to the patient and after such a long vigil and your body and mind will also have to re-adjust and recover.

Take care of yourself.

KatyK Fri 22-Nov-19 09:51:27

Great news gilly

Auntieflo Fri 22-Nov-19 09:53:20

Good morning Michael, Annie, and all who follow.
The sky was an awful dirty, heavy grey when DH woke me this morning. It really looked as though it might snow. Thankfully it is much better and brighter now.

The surgery rang and told me my blood test had been cancelled, as the nurse has called in sick, with a bug that's going round evidently.
So I will have to re-schedule on Monday.

Gilly, such good news from you, and what a relief that must be, having something positive to hold onto after such a long time.
It was lovely to hear that you had had a laugh, yesterday, so don't apologise, laughing's good for the soul.

Not much planned for today, but I may see a friend, who has recently returned from another cruise, that is if her car is OK.

Marydoll, how you have the strength to go off to NY, I don't know, but have a lovely time and enjoy yourself.

Re all the teachers on here, I was not a teacher, but did work in a boarding school, in the accounts dept. Does that count?

To all who are under the weather, keep well and have a good day one and all.

DoraMarr Fri 22-Nov-19 09:53:25

Gilly pleased things are improving.

ninathenana Fri 22-Nov-19 09:53:44

Smiling with you gilly

Urmstongran Fri 22-Nov-19 09:59:24

I’m DELIGHTED to read of your GREAT news gillybob you must be (cautiously) overjoyed. I hope your husband makes exponential progress from here on.

I’m saddened to read you’re leaving Gabriella I have the feeling it’s your final decision this time. You aren’t the type of person to do Frank Sinatra comebacks. I shall miss you.
?

NanKate Fri 22-Nov-19 10:00:25

Onward and upward to the Gillybobs. ?

EllanVannin Fri 22-Nov-19 10:00:25

Never forget Gillybob that the carer is also important when it comes to health issues and looking after. What you're going through is very draining and taxing on your mental and physical health so make sure you're fit and prepared for the journey ahead. xx

vena11 Fri 22-Nov-19 10:08:22

God morning all , very long thread this morning it has taken ages to read.
Gillybob that is great news so pleased there is an improvement, slow and steady wins the race, take care of you and make sure you rest when you can.
I am not a teacher but I worked in a senior school office for years, so I know what all you teachers are like grin and my DDI is a teacher.
Not much on for me today, food shop and some house work.
I hope all have a great day .

kittylester Fri 22-Nov-19 10:17:44

Great news, gilly, you must be so pleased! And breathe!

I'm not a teacher but I have produced 2 and I apparently look like one - does that count?

I can understand gg's decision.

JenniferEccles Fri 22-Nov-19 10:18:09

A bit of emotional blackmail Gabriella ........

gillybob also doesn’t want you to go as you make her smile ?

With what she has been through lately she needs all the smiles going doesn’t she ?

Nannytopsy Fri 22-Nov-19 10:44:47

Such good news Gilly thanks

EllaKeat Fri 22-Nov-19 10:45:42

Gillybob I tune in every day to check on how things are with you, so I am over the moon this morning?
A soggy day here in Durham and it took ages to get light this morning!
Will be collecting my GD from nursery at lunchtime and she is decorating her Christmas Cake this afternoon.......... i will then be cleaning the devastated kitchen?
Gabriella does not seem to have been happy here for a while now. Perhaps a break from GN would help?

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 22-Nov-19 10:54:00

Morning all from a damp and cold South Notts. I expect to visit my sister later on unless something comes up.
Am pleased to hear your news gilly and hope that good progress continues.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Doodle Fri 22-Nov-19 10:59:12
