Damp and soggy here in the north of Norfolk.

Art class this morning. For some reason it's the last one before Christmas!

(When the DC were little I was a childminder and then a playground dinner lady and helped in the classroom - do I get any points for that? !!?)

My Mum was a teacher , my form teacher said I was too cross for a teacher , ? so I took a different path

Actually our youngest daughter is a teacher too! I feel part of the clique now ... JOKE!!

Good morning everyone from rainy Wiltshire, it's piddling down.
I have a pile of ironing and little enthusiasm so that could take some time ?
I could do with a quick supermarket trip but the nearest one is 8 miles away so need to get organised and get on with it, don't I?
A friend is coming this afternoon and we will do some jewellery making so that's an incentive to clear the ironing!

Good Morning from a damp S Welsh coast.
I had a phone call from the surgery yesterday morning to say that a nurse would call to give me my flu injection late afternoon, she duly arrived at 4, so grateful. This is the first time that I'm eligible for one and I can't remember when I last had any sort of injection,years and years.

Another retired teacher and I can identify with that awful panicky feeling NannyTopsy, I still get it sometimes.

GD coming for the weekend again so I need to do some prep for this evening.
DH has GP appointment for bloods right on lunchtime, hope they are prompt. His appointment at the hospital the other day ran 1.5 hours late.

Good Morning from The Wirral, dark and damp but slightly warmer feel today when I went down to make a cuppa and popped my head out the kitchen door,
DH is painting a piece of furniture with chalk paint this morning, never used this before so hope it turns out ok,
Then going to SIL for lunch and catchup, then on to DD to pick up some orders from Amazon for Christmas gifts for GC, Hope you all are well and have a peaceful , pleasant day ,

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Wet here in South Yorkshire. I slept badly, and feeling achy this morning, and thinking about DS who has to take his very poorly cat to the vet this morning, probably to be put to sleep.

I was a teacher too and loved it, apart from the target setting etc in what we used to call the “infants.”

Hello and good morning from a now dry and bright Godalming ?
No news, just short goodbye.
I don't fit the demographic of most posters and not comfortable with having to remember who has or may possibly have ADHD/similar or on 'the spectrum', arthritis, mental health issues, other health issues, family frictions, financial worries, partner problems, those who are easily offended...ad infinitum.
I'm not religious, don't subscribe to the manifestos of main political parties, have too much money (according to some) shop in (horror of horrors) Primark and H&M ?? give packed lunches to delivery drivers and comment on threads where I have no direct experience of the subject.
All in all, not a good prognosis.
Thanks to all who previously PM'd and I wish everyone the best Christmas and brightest New Year possible, whatever your circumstances, beliefs and customs and wherever in the world you may be.
I shan't miss the barbs and the slings and arrows will have to find another target.
No more.
If me saying what others dared not to, gave some pleasure to the watchers when I was roundly castigated or ridiculed, at least that was a plus.
I won't be back under this or any other name, so no need to speculate on that.
I'm content and can now look back in this as a lesson on the good (women's support) and the bad (cattiness and cliques)

Good news from the NE coast , where it is absolutely lashing down with rain but who cares?

My DH had his ventilator removed yesterday ! He is breathing for himself with the aid of oxygen directly into the tracheostomy tube. He has had the sedation greatly reduced too but is still quite spaced out. His eyes were wide open but just kind of staring into space which they assure me is quite normal after being on life support for so long.

He still has an infection but his white blood cells are now putting up a fight which they tell me is a breakthrough.

I sat with him until late last night and he was holding his own although they said it was quite common to re-ventilate overnight if his oxygen levels fall. This would not have been possible with the original ( through the mouth) ventilator so I am glad I was persuaded to allow the tracheostomy.

I have been half awake most of the night looking at my phone willing it not to ring (does that make sense?) as they said they would call me if they needed to re-ventilate.

I do hope this is the beginning of the end of what has been a living nightmare .

I hope everyone has a good Friday especially those feeling sad or poorly. I am floating on air .

Good morning from a dreich Aberdeenshire.

The street is starting to get lit up with Christmas decs...some are truly awful, some are OK but I had to lie through my teeth yesterday when my neighbour had his light up...sparkly plastic tat!

The mutt has found a new friend, a border terrier, and they had lovely chasing games round the golf course yesterday. Great exercise and he sleeps soundly 'til it's time for his tea time walk.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dreich again. I am also a teacher but of adults doing something they choose, so I am spared some of the anguish. I come from a line of teachers too....

Don't go again Gabriella!. You've only just returned. I hope it wasn't something I said.

Last night was awful. My hot water bottle leaked and I woke up in a cold wet bed.

Yoga this morning to recover! Worries about the family continue but I am very pleased to hear better news from Gilly

Gillybob that is truly a turning point!
You could also start “breathing” again yourself and try to get some rest. You know and we know that there may be weeks to come still in hospital, but a corner has been turned if his own white blood cells are kicking in.
Miracles do happen!

So pleased to read your post Gilly I can almost feel the spring in your step. We are all still at your side though.

Please don’t go Gabriella your posts are unique and valued. How boring life would be if we were all the same. Isn’t Gransnet about getting a window on other people’s lives and views and opening up our surroundings? Please reconsider.
