No-one can flush the loo today as water is turned off.

Once upon a time I would not have objected to workmen using the toilet, that is until a few years back I was having major work done, I discovered that some of them, were missing the pan and I had to clean the floor up. I was furious, I told the senior chap that as I have never had to do this after DH, and stopped having to do it for DS when he was about 4 years old, they would not be using it again.

We live next to a piece of council park land. There was a driver who regularly parked & trotted into the bushes for a wee. Don't know what he does now though as the council decimated the trees & cleared all the shrubs away! Our local PCSO is lovely & chatty and she knows our cloakroom & drink is on offer whenever she's on foot patrol. She appreciates the gesture.

The same happened here and I was so indignant that in spite of being ultra shy I snapped and told the person it was unacceptable to lave the loo as he did. And it is! Don’t understand about the lunchmoney.

Research at Newcastle University showed that a photo of a pair of eyes accompanying a printed request made people more likely to comply with the request. Sadly, male eyes worked better than female eyes! Perhaps OP could put up a notice with a photo of the South African rugby captain.
Although it's not nice for someone not to wash their hands, I think some people on this thread are being snooty about workmen. Do you check if your other male visitors wash their hands? Again, research indicates that the majority of men do not wash their hands after a pee, doctors on duty included!

I offer hot drinks to workmen but they often don’t accept. Most like to work through without lunch, or they bring their own and eat in their van.
Now we have an Aldi just nearby some pop over there for a sandwich and to use the loo.
We have two loos and most workmen will ask out of politeness before using the loo. I am sure they don’t expect to be refused or to be told to flush and wash their hands.

And the Brexit donation?

My last build (small side extension) the builders commissioned a portaloo cabin, but once the cloakroom was in the extension they got rid of the portaloo and started using that. I can't say I blamed them, the portaloo was meant to be cleaned and emptied once a week but the hirers never turned up and it stank something awful. I never let anyone use my ensuite though - don't want them walking through my bedroom. We have a seperate bathroom on the 1st floor and I used to let visitors use that before we had the cloakroom. Very handy for anyone doing outside work too as I only have to leave the outer door open and lock the inner one.

If anyone honestly thought that I paid any political party £50k then I suggest they lay off the gin.
Obviously, it was a joke. I'm far too tight to lavish my money in that manner.

After, a husband, sons and their chums, now an elderly dad, nothing about the state the loo is left in surprises me, but always shocked that anybody would want carpet in there.

Amazed at all the cleaning after workmen use the loo. Why would you? they are just normal people. What on earth does everyone do when they have to use public toilets, or - even worse - clean their teeth and wash in the loos on a plane after an overnight flight. Memories of loos in various parts of the world where a hole in the ground is the norm also spring to mind. Are people aware that being over clean is actually quite bad for your immune system, and that lots of cleaning products give off fumes which linger in the house (particularly in the winter) and are probably pretty horrid in themselves.

I never ever use public toilets or eat food provided on flights or use their loos.

Can everyone please stop all the nastiness which has appeared on here ? It’s totally unnecessary.

Although I wouldn’t give workmen lunch money it is kind of you Gabriella, as is giving a snack to your regular delivery drivers.

Me too, SunnySusie. Unless they’d peed on the seat it wouldn’t cross my mind to do an extra clean after any visitors. As for not flushing, I’d have to check that ours was flushed before they used it. Do none of you subscribe to water conservation, and if it’s yellow, let it mellow?

I didn't make that up. If you look back at the thread entitled "Farage the fraudster" on page 4 several people remembered that Gabriella had made that post, which some thought had been a wind up.
