I think we all are thinking about gilly often and hoping her life gets better.
What a difference a day makes 😢😢
I Shall Be a Weather Forecaster In My Next Life Or...
Ha! Ha! Haaaaaaaaa! An OBE in exchange for the State Pension?
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, wet and windy outside here in Brackley this morning.
Just a few things to pack before I embark around 9 this morning on my mystery one night stopover , so will be back as usual on Monday.
The clues I had worked out as Tenby , but could be wrong as It could be Porthcawl.
As the last pick up is Moreton in Marsh , seems a south west or wales end up.
What normally happens on the mystery trips , we will have a short break at a services , then continue ,maybe another stop where the driver places are intinary on our seats with the full details of where we are going, and where we stop off on the return tomorrow .
Mick
I think we all are thinking about gilly often and hoping her life gets better.
I woke up and immediately thought about her this morning.
She certainly does, Pantglas2.
I know what you mean Urmstongran- I was out with a friend last night and thought how gillybob would give anything to be back to normal with DH. She’s so generous with her best wishes to us all whatever fun things we’re doing - she deserves some good fortune!
I’m sure gilly is in our thoughts very much - not just when we all post on here. Yesterday when we arrived at the wedding venue I was sat with a coffee on my own for a bit and I found myself wondering how things were for the gillybobs and I’m certain I’m not the only one who does it.
No gilly you are not in any way selfish. We are right there with you and constantly thinking of you both. I hope you get some rest today.
Will be thinking of you this afternoon GG.
Gillybob! You are an amazing lady with untold strength.
They say a woman is like a teabag: don't know how strong you are until you are put in hot water!
Thoughts, prayers and so many positive thoughts to you both! Xxx
Hoping today brings better news for you Gilly. X
gilly Sending hugs and love to both you and your dear husband.?
Hang in there lass, I'm sure the tide will turn. Xxxx
Thinking of you and sending my best wishes, gilly. Hang on in there.
Good morning from a very wet South Yorkshire.
I've got to go out soon to help set up for a pie and pea supper being held for charity tonight. Hope this wet weather doesn't affect the turnout tonight.
Hope you don't get washed away, mick, and enjoy your trip.
Welcome, GermanSaurkraut. As others say, you will get a better response if you post on either the relationships thread or health.
Thinking of you, and your DH, gilly. Rest assured we are not sick of your posts, and if it helps you to post things, then please continue. You sound absolutely exhausted, try to get some rest or you will fall ill yourself. (Difficult, I know, and of course you want to be by your DH's side as much as possible, but you need to have a bit of rest and food ?). Take care.
Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it’s chucking it down. We did an overnight with the smalls as our daughters and partner/husband all stayed over at the hotel. They’ve just finished breakfast now and are on their way home.
I’m shattered. I don’t sleep to well in their bed and the grand children were awake at 6:20am full of beans. I felt like a space cadet!
I’d like to have a snooze when we get home but it’s shower and the train into Manchester for an annual meet up with husband’s ex colleagues and their wives. Social events are like buses aren’t they?
Ah gillybob let’s hope this weekend brings a great improvement for your dear husband. You are coping magnificently. Hang on in there.
Hope Saturday is kind to us all whether we have plans or none. x
Good morning from a now sunny but chilly Glasgow. Clocks going back tonight and I am not looking forward to shorter days. I no longer drive in the dark as I have lost the confidence to do it. Didn’t see this one coming ?
Best wishes to all dealing with health issues.
Never feel you are being a bother gilly, far from it as we all understand and truly feel for you both and what you are going through. More strong healing vibes and at this point, patience. Please remember, you must look after yourself too?
Oh Gilly, your post was not there when I posted, so mine must have sounded very uncaring. Truly feeling for you, and hoping every day that you will have better news. Hugs and best wishes winging their way to you.
gilly no-one is sick of you. If it helps to post an update you must do so. If it is too upsetting, as kitty says, we all understand if you don't
Please know we are all rooting for you and your DH.
We are all just hoping that he will improve soon and this nightmare will come to an end.
Good morning from the Scottish Borders. It's freezing cold but dry and bright so really nice. I am stressing about unimportant things while poor Gilly is suffering.
From your description, it does sound hopeful really. I have little experience but the woman I know who almost died of a HAI and had sepsis, recovered eventually,
I will keep on praying for him.
Your mystery tour does sound exciting Michael. I look forward to hearing how it went.
Also best wishes to everyone.
Thinking of you both Gillybob.
Hoping it is a step forward for your lovely man. ?
Love and hugs to you both. ??
Good morning from east London, no seagulls here this morning. I was convinced it was raining when I first woke and it was dark but looks like it was purely the wind. I need it to go away, we’ve had the ‘call to arms’ to help put up the tennis dome on Monday and wind and a big plastic sheet on ropes don’t go well together. O &S day today, DP is gamely catching up with the laundry and later we’ll be off to Gallions Reach to exchange the photos we were given by mistake and then drop DD’s holiday bag back at her house. DS is back home for a few days from uni, have yet to catch up as we arrived back yesterday as he was rushing off to a party (dressed in a suit and tie ?). Have a good day.
gilly, thank you for taking the time to give us another update. Does it help to write it down or does it upset you? Although we want to know how you and your dh are doing please dont update us if it is upsetting.
I echo what gonegirl said. You are our much loved friend.
No one is sick of you Gilly. Never will be.
God blesss. xxx
Good morning all. Bit late this morning, because I slept in till 7.30, and then had to wait till my Kindle Fire had charged. In the meantime I have had a mug of tea, a chocolate biscuit and two lemon pancakes, finishing up the batter that DGD and I made yesterday after school. She was thrilled to make pancakes and experimented with weird mixtures on top!
Very wet and windy here today and going to be even worse later. I fear I am going to get even wetter this afternoon as I watch Northampton Saints play Worcester. At least I can watch England this morning in the dry!
The clocks do indeed go back tonight; DH never ever got round to changing the clock in the car, so for half the year we were always an hour out.
Best wishes to all with worries today.
Well they say if you don’t laugh you cry .....
Yesterday they decided to reduce the sedation right down to the lowest level where he can still tolerate the ventilator whilst still maintaining a degree of calmness. I understand why they have to try and do this but really, show me anyone who could tolerate a massive tube down their throat into their lungs doing all the breathing for them , being unable to communicate, eat, drink, talk etc. And yet stay calm ?
The infection is still not under control and his lungs are no better but they have had to stop the antibiotics for 48 hours “to take stock” . They are at the stage where they need to try a whole new approach as they are disappointed with the results so far. Waiting for the microbiologist to decide in the next move . He calls it “infection chess” which is a good analogy I think.
So of course he spent most of yesterday shuffling in the bed, crying etc. It was horrible. Doctors insisted this is a normal reaction . I stayed until I could barely keep me eyes open any longer last night (well this morning technically) and must’ve just gone off to sleep when the phone rang at 2.45 asking if I could talk to him and try and calm him down. They had given him light sedation to help him sleep but he was fighting it . To be honest I think it would have been better if I had just gone straight back to the hospital as it’s very hard having a one way conversation listening to the ventilator and all the various bleeps not even knowing if anyone is listening . After about 15 minutes I ended the call and rang the hospital back. I asked that maybe he could have a sleeping tablet or something ? They crush tablets and mix them with liquid to put them down the feeding tubes. Apparently he had already had one.
It was almost impossible trying to get back to sleep, so today I am what you might call bloomin’ shattered. Just on my way back now.
He is too weak to hold his arms up and cannot hold a pen or use a keyboard or letterboard so it must be so frustrating for him being unable to communicate.
Apparently this is a step forward ? But it certainly doesn’t feel like one. I will see what today brings . Day 15 or is it 16 ? I don’t know .
Another massive thank you to everyone for good wishes, prayers and PM’s I’m sorry I can’t respond individually at the moment but I am not allowed a phone on the unit and am literally falling into bed when I get home.
I feel so selfish wittering on about my problems when I know there are other lovely Gransnet members who are ill and upset too. I hope they feel better soon.
Best wishes to those enjoying trips and holidays away too .
Hoping for some good news today and sorry for this long winded post, you must all be sick of me. Although it does help to share with (virtual) friends . Thank you ? for putting up with me.
Love Gilly x
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Late, very wet start in South Yorkshire. DH has kindly given me his cold. Isn’t that nice of him? Nothing much planned today. Hope your trip is good Mick. I know Tenby very well. Went to Porthcawl for a day for the first time earlier this year.
Dragonfly glad to hear you feel better today.
Thinking about Gilly.
Good Morning All x
Non-stop rain yesterday and by the look of things the same again today. It's really soggy everywhere and not so warm either.
Off to North Wales to meet up with friends, picking one up along the way. A friend is picking me up first in a couple of hours. We see each other about 4 times a year. Not the best of journeys in the pouring rain but we won't notice once we're there. It's at a friend's house where she and her husband are on the move again and coming back to Cheshire, so a bit nearer to us. There's five of us.
It'll take my mind off " things "for a few hours.
Thinking of the Gillybob's and hoping there's a spark of positivity around them, I hope so x Try and look after yourself Gillybob.
Thoughts also to Dragonfly and Marydoll during their " journeys " too and anyone else a bit on the seedy side. No use relying on the weather for giving you all a lift.
Whatever everyone does, enjoy the day. Hope the mystery gets solved Mick---sounds exciting.
