Yes I used to do that too tanith. Nowadays I use an oxtail cup-a-soup.

Having to walk to the shop with 2 x one gallon cans to have them filled with paraffin for the heater. They were very heavy and the handles cut into your fingers on the walk back.

And Rinso - who remembers that? My mother used to have some really old mags from the 50s and I still remember the ad - a girl going off to a party (proud mum looking on!) in her freshly-Rinso-washed horribly old fashioned frock.

Oh yes KatyK, I remember Mums divi number and my Grans too! Gran always used Oxydol for her laundry and Mum used square deal Surf.

Those little pleated transparent plastic rain hats mentioned upthread by Loulelady were part of our school uniform. We had to have one tucked into the breast pocket of our blazers (actually, no other pockets on our blazers so that we couldn't stick our hands in them!) so that if it rained our school hats wouldn't get wet and lose their shape.

There was a milk machine close to us. The milk was in tetracartons.

Yes, I remember collecting plastic daffodils from Fairy Liquid, I think. The soup cubes were great and I loved the Vesta dried ready meals, especially the noodles that you fried!
