I don't care about being contentious. If that's what my views are, so be it.
I’m on Nitrofurantoin and feeling so sick.
Ha! Ha! Haaaaaaaaa! An OBE in exchange for the State Pension?
Looks like the Daily Mail is being sued by them regarding a private letter from the Duchess to her estranged father.
Who is behind the letter being shown to the paper? An unhappy member of their staff? Or Mr. Markle maybe?
I don't care about being contentious. If that's what my views are, so be it.
*Meghan seems to behave as an actress/ celebrity with royalty as an added extra.
It isn’t...it’s a way of life and duty comes high on the list followed by the acceptance that you follow certain protocols*
Agree with this (although I'd add Harry to it). I know that they're both trying to forge their own path but they appear either to be very badly advised or they completely believe their own self importance, and then they appear to get rattled when some of their more egotistical behaviour is reported in a less than positive way. That doesn't excuse the behaviour of the press, some of it is truly awful, but they certainly give the media plenty of fodder and I would have thought that being as intelligent as some believe they are, they'd realise this and keep their heads down and just get on with the day job of opening charity centres. They want it all ways, and that's not the way the RF works.
Haven't all of the royals been given celebrity treatment at times?
I can remember Prince Charles being hailed as the 'playboy prince' (!)
Pictures of him with various young women in the papers, and so on.
Eek, some playboy.
Airmiles Andy, Shy Di any more?
Charles was not responsible for photographs in the press, as heir to the throne there was much interest in any woman he was seen with, she would be future queen consort.
Harry needs to accept there is an unspoken agreement between the royals and the public.
A royal carries out royal duties , traffic is halted , no parking on streets they will drive down , the public turn out to flag wave . Many people are really fond of the royals.
In return the royals share part of their private lives. Not their holidays or what they eat for breakfast, photographs of their
children, first day at school, announcements of pregnancies etc.
When Archie was born the public were shut out, after he was
born ? A photograph of his foot. He is seen for the first time in S.A.
Game playing not playing the game.
It’s got absolutely nothing to do with her colour or her nationality, and has everything to do with her entitled attitude. Harry was a well liked member of the Royal Family, especially when he was in the armed forces, chose to serve in Afghanistan, and started up The Invictus Games. Then he met Meghan and he changed. He didn’t even bother to meet her father before he married her, he accepted that she was only going to invite her mother to the wedding and not invite any other family member. Surely there must be cousins, aunts, uncles, close friends from childhood or university. But no, she filled St George’s Chapel with celebrities who, by all accounts, she barely knew. Incidentally, she has been friends with Serena Williams for a good while, according to what I’ve seen. She had a tantrum when she couldn’t wear the tiara that Eugenie had chosen for her wedding, leading Harry to say, ‘What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.’ She didn’t though, the queen stepped in. Then we have had the whole debacle about carbon footprints and the ‘do as I say, not as I do’ and the half million pound baby shower (what about the carbon footprint, she flew back on a private jet) and the debacle about when, where etc the baby would be born, then the non naming of godparents, then refusing to go to Balmoral because baby was too young to travel (even though he’d already travelled to Ibiza and South of France) and on it goes. If Harry and Meghan want perfect privacy, they should give up their royal life, self fund their life, and move elsewhere to live privately.
The worst thing she has done in my opinion, is to cut off her father, to tell him he’ll never see his grandchild. That shows a heartless, unkind, and unforgiving person. She went to South Africa and told people she has never met that they’re her ‘sisters’ but she can’t even be a daughter to her own, ageing father.
How does anyone know what was said, what tantrums were had?!
Really, how does anyone know?
You’re right MissAdventure, but these things have been reported so widely that there must be truth in them I feel.
However, we do know as a fact that Meghan has nothing to do with her father and he has never seen his grandchild. Also that Harry has never met him.
I'd love to know who Harry told "What Meghan wants, Meghan gets".
Apparently he shouted it at palace staff - but we'll obviously never know (well, we probably will in years to come when someone's publishing their memoirs)
Didn't Wallis Simpson "play the Madam"? History may indeed repeat itself, Harry. Be careful; very careful. Uppity little madams do not go down well with the public. Especially Royal madams.!
This is why Meg's family went rogue and to be honest I don't think I blame them!
It’s assumed this is why they went rogue - I fixed it for you.
Saying that you don’t Blame them certainly shows the type of person you are.
I think I’m right, but has anyone else read that handm had a car FLOWN from th uk to Africa because they didn’t like the choice over there?
It can’t be true can it?
The hypocrisy
The UK publics lack of enthusiasm towards MM has nothing whatsoever to do with colour or race. I happen to think she is a very beautiful woman.
shes actually a lovely colour
Do you ladies hear yourselves? Honestly and truly?
Why do British public love to tell the world they aren’t racist? The rest of the world sees the racism in the language used to describe the Duchess of Sussex. Look at the press from other countries.
While perhaps people think they are being complementary, the Duchess of Sussex is in fact from another culture. Americans are seeing the racism which means she is as well. Trust me it’s glaring.
With regards to the Duchess of Cambridge knowing how to act, she’s had a lot longer to practice. She also doesn’t have to contend with the population being angry that she is American. She had a leg up to begin with.
If people are actually angry about the way if she and her husband have acted, then why is 90% of the criticism directed towards her and not her husband? Surely it should have been him “teaching her the ropes” If one must decide that people can only act in a certain way

Ah! Big mistake. Never assume my dear ... it makes an 'ass of u and me'
Saying that you don’t Blame them certainly shows the type of person you are.
And what type of person am I? Do tell me. I'm intrigued. However, I do know that had my much loved 35 year old daughter got engaged to Prince Harry without a visit and then telling the whole world that my daughter had had her first Christmas with the 'family she'd never had' I'd have been a bit peeved. More than a bit peeved.
To say the least.
If you wouldn't ... well I guess your relationship with your family is different to mine.
What type?
Apparently the kind that wants to use a large stick to get a rogue “child” back in line.
What her family did, by selling her out, was disgusting.
You do realize that HE said that, not her right? Why sell your sister out over a comment someone else said?
Maybe she’s horrible, maybe she’s a saint.
But selling her out for money is unforgivable.
I'm not blaming her! A rogue child? She's not the one who went rogue. Her family did. Because they were hurt. And when you're hurt you act irrationally.
However, why did Harry say she'd had no family? Weird thing to say when all's said and done.
But I'll leave you to it now.
This thread has taken legs and I'm really not that interested.
You can be angry with someone without selling them out to the worlds media. It was a low low move.
Perhaps the Christmases she had with her father’s family were small affairs compared to the very large royal family Christmas. Who knows why he said it. The point is he said it not her.
Summerlove I agree. It is always depressing reading comments of any posts on this site about MM. There is nothing that she could do that would be acceptable.
Yes, I found the "shes actually a lovely colour" quite disturbing.
There is much she could do and much she could stop doing
I’d suggest they could be doing a lot more
I am in the minority as I like The Duke & Duchess of Sussex.
"but these things have been reported so widely that there must be truth in them I feel"
Ever heard the saying "A lie gets halfway round the world before the truth gets it's boots on"
Summerlove thank you for all of your comments, I have never been so ashamed of the comments that fully grown older women with families of their own are posting about MM on here.
I feel like we have gone back in time to the past century .I am a take it or leave re the Royal family, but on balance I think they are part & parcel of the many traditions, customs & heritage that makes our Country interesting & attractive to visitors
The assumptions posted about them on this thread is staggering.
