Looks like the Daily Mail is being sued by them regarding a private letter from the Duchess to her estranged father.

Who is behind the letter being shown to the paper? An unhappy member of their staff? Or Mr. Markle maybe?

With a bit of luck, annsixty you won't be jumped on from a great height by trying to show consideration.

Summerlove Fri 04-Oct-19 12:12:17

So actually all this “correctness” makes it difficult to just treat people as people

Only if you are in the habit of saying things that other people find rude

maddyone Fri 04-Oct-19 12:14:04

You did the right thing annsixty.

grapefruitpip Fri 04-Oct-19 13:33:56

ha ha Summerlove with your crazy American , Mumsnet ways, you made me laugh.

What is the correctness? Is it like the PC Brigade, I'm still trying to find them.

Thirty years ago I could have frank and honest talks with friends and acquaintances about issues of race including skin colour.
It was ok to ask questions and to be asked questions in return.
Now the entire topic is a huge minefield.

I think MM has a beautiful skin colour and I also cannot stand her.
I think PH is too pale and looks like a tw*t.
I am very fair skinned and I think that I would look better if my skin had some colour but I don't even tan.

I admire the way black skin doesn't crack........my fair skin shows wrinkles very easily.

Why can't we be ok with whatever colour we are? yes I know the history and reasons but why can't we get over it by now? It really does not matter unless you are an ignorant t*ss*r. I really do only care about what is inside a person and not their skin shade.

Oh and my best friend has very dark skin that is never white but is considered ethnically to be white English. We think she has Romany GP's.
She has been called a Pa*i for her skin colour. Bloody ignorant but not worth getting upset about.

Still not American, or from mumsnet.

Just trying to tell you that comments like that are offensive.

grapefruitpip Fri 04-Oct-19 13:46:07

sorry, I was trying to be lighthearted.

Summerlove Fri 04-Oct-19 13:52:04

Calling me American, and from mumsnet after I’ve stated I’m not is meant to be light hearted?

I’ve obviously missed the joke. It came across as you were trying to insult me for daring to have modern ways

Anniebach Fri 04-Oct-19 14:10:15

Harry and Megan are definitely breaking away from the Windsor family .

pinkquartz Fri 04-Oct-19 14:21:49

PH and MM clearly perceive themselves as Celebs first and RF second.
That is a conflict because as RF they do not get the same treatment and more is expected in return.
After all their income is either form the tax payer or some inheritance that must have come originally from the population maybe in taxes?
How did royality become so wealthy in the UK?

Celebs have to make films/ act/ something for their money and PH thinks he is owed a luxury lifestyle just for being born Hmmmm

he is so arrogant.

Anniebach Fri 04-Oct-19 14:49:25

Being rather bored ! I read up on inherited titles.

Anne’s children could not be a prince or princess because they are from the female line. Andrew’s daughters had the correct title. Edward chose not to give his children title of
prince and princess.

William’s children , only George was entitled to be prince, the
Queen issued a new letter patent giving Charlotte the title
princess and Louis prince.

Explains why Margaret’s children were not titled prince and
princess.

Harry looks awful here

Anniebach Fri 04-Oct-19 15:52:59

Gosh, Megan with princess on her top

trisher Fri 04-Oct-19 16:03:17

Quite honestly I couldn't give a flying f* about what H&M get up to but one thing I do notice on this thread and that is the similaities between how Diana was portrayed by the media.
Catherine is the good saintly Diana to be worshiped and adored.
Meghan is the naughty unconventional Diana- a bit of loose cannon.
Let's hope nothing happens to either of them. If only people could let them be.

Anniebach Fri 04-Oct-19 16:41:11

If people ‘let them be ‘ they would be out of a job

grapefruitpip Fri 04-Oct-19 16:42:57

Summerlove, I have sent you a pm which may explain things.

trisher Fri 04-Oct-19 16:58:13

Exactly Annie she could probably go back to acting, but he would be a bit lost!

merlotgran Fri 04-Oct-19 16:58:34

I noticed last night on Question Time that Bonnie Greer referred to H&M as celebrities and not royals. Maybe Americans don't understand why we feel there's an important difference.

Bridgeit Fri 04-Oct-19 17:04:21

They would not be out of a job if ‘we let them be’
Journalists might be
Puppeteers might be
Comedians might be
Flag makers might be
Souvenir sellers might be .......

Bridgeit Fri 04-Oct-19 17:18:56

And : The Gardeners
Stablehands
Cooks
Office staff

Anniebach Fri 04-Oct-19 17:24:21

There were journalists, flag makers, souvenir sellers etc long
Before this couple.

Bridgeit Fri 04-Oct-19 17:26:38

Well the more there are of them the more there is to sell.
But if there were less or none of them many people would loose their jobs

Anniebach Fri 04-Oct-19 17:30:00

trisher he wouldn’t be a bit lost, he has the world to save!

See he has snapped at a SKY reporter, he was leaving a health clinic ,in S.A,. She politely asked ‘what do you hope to achieve?’ He snapped ‘ go and ask them’ referring to the people in the clinic.

Is this man at breaking point ?

Bridgeit Fri 04-Oct-19 17:31:04

I can take them or leave them.
But it’s not just a one way street.

Bridgeit Fri 04-Oct-19 17:34:06

If he is at breaking point , what would your opinions be?
