Lets take the plebs minds off the mess the government sin and get Lizzies name out the frame ...A WEDDING .The fools will love that and they'll be so delighted they'll forget about everything else ...even the cost of it .
REALLY!! is England so gullible ?

grapefruitpip Fri 27-Sept-19 12:22:41

to be fair Annie, I bet a bit of research has gone on behind the scenes.

Houseseller Fri 27-Sept-19 12:23:12

Her Majesty is a credit to our nation. I for one don’t mind a portion of my taxes keeping her as our Queen. Can you imagine the alternative Comrade Corbyn?

jura2 Fri 27-Sept-19 12:28:37

Person I thought Harry and Meghan visiting the Cape flatlands and Tutu was a much much better and happier occasion. But yes- wishing happiness to Beatrice, as long as we don't have to pay for it.

Treelover Fri 27-Sept-19 12:32:37

Have pity paddyann, this is a young woman whose father has just been implicated in a paedophile ring and is a well-known philanderer; whose grandmother has been suckered by Boris Jonson (even though everyone knew he was a liar); her younger sister has already wed! (O dear, not done) She's found herself a property dealer...the public are over the moon

Anniebach Fri 27-Sept-19 12:57:52

grapefruit no research can determine unexplained infertility

jennyvg Fri 27-Sept-19 12:59:43

While I think it is nice that Beatrice has grabbed herself a chap at last and I do wish them well, I do hope that with all of his apparent wealth they will pay for the wedding themselves rather than this country having to fork out again

Saggi Fri 27-Sept-19 13:19:30

Who IS getting married??? Don’t read royal news... I’m a republican/atheist....

Anniebach Fri 27-Sept-19 13:28:46

We didn’t pay for her sisters wedding, we paid for security jenny.

Saggie I didn’t know atheists were anti marriage or anti monarchy. I know Christians who are anti monarchy.

Mcrc Fri 27-Sept-19 13:33:27

My husband asked "who's Beatrice?" and I said, "you know, Fergie's daughter!" We are American but I follow the family-

Ellianne Fri 27-Sept-19 13:45:21

It's very telling that one the most popular royals is Zara (and Mike Tindall) whose mother didn't want her to have the title "princess." Her wedding was very low key, in Scotland if I remember rightly. It seems the public has respect for her for leading a (near) normal life.

4allweknow Fri 27-Sept-19 14:04:19

Paddyann. Your great leader has previously stated the Queen will still be Queen in Scotland even if Independent and we all know Scotland gets everything right first time and never goes back on decisions.

Anniebach Fri 27-Sept-19 14:08:13

Zara’s wedding wasn’t low key, there was security and the reception was held in Holyrood Palace, the official residence in Scotland of the Queen. Same as a reception being held in
Buck House.

starbird Fri 27-Sept-19 14:15:12

So Zara had a low key wedding, the security she probably has no say in, then they went back to ( one of) Grannie’s house for a get together.

Much like my wedding.

jennyvg Fri 27-Sept-19 14:16:51

Anniebach security was apparently the greatest cost of the wedding, which had to come out of the police budgets, which I believe are taxpayer funded, I may be wrong about that, but I believe if you are a multi millionaire you should pay your own way

Day6 Fri 27-Sept-19 14:22:18

REALLY!! is England so gullible ?

Paddyann, I am not a huge fan of royalty, but I don't think anyone forced Beatrice and Mario to get engaged right now to take our minds off the disgraceful position parliament has brought upon us.

If they did get engaged as a distraction I'd say that was going above and beyond the royal call of duty. grin

I do hope they have a quiet and private bash. The Eugenie wedding was rather underwhelming.

Ellianne Fri 27-Sept-19 14:26:07

Not wishing to split hairs Annie but apparently security for Eugenie's wedding in Windsor was close to £2 million whereas for Zara's it was £400 k. I'm guessing the latter was a reasonable price because security for the Pope's visit to the same place was £543 k.

Day6 Fri 27-Sept-19 14:38:04

Meghan and Harry are trying to outdo each other in utter drivel with their woke announcements, Meghan with her "I come here as your sister, woman of colour" platitudes in South Africa and Harry with his disturbing "I worry so much about the world I can hardly get out of bed some days"

Arghhh!!! Please, pass several sick buckets my way!

Is it only the young that gush over such hypocritical and sickly tosh?

I can understand the call for a republic sometimes...

Tooyoungytobeagrandma Fri 27-Sept-19 14:42:44

When scots like Paddyann make the sort of comments about England/royals /independence I find myself imagining sawing Scotland off from the rest of the country and pushing them out into the north sea and letting them get on with it ?

pixie601 Fri 27-Sept-19 14:48:09

What sour pussies some of you are. A couple in love and getting married - what's not to like! You have your life and they have theirs - if yours is so sour do something about it!

Nanny41 Fri 27-Sept-19 16:06:40

What is Gransnet coming to, with this foul language and hatred,Why cant people be nice instead.

Jane10 Fri 27-Sept-19 16:32:05

tooyoungtobeagranma- please please don't think all Scots are paddyann! They certainly are not.

grapefruitpip Fri 27-Sept-19 16:35:39

I think it might be pusses not pussies?

newgran2019 Fri 27-Sept-19 17:20:56

'overprivileged pampered prats' - like our prime minister, perhaps...?

Hereditary monarchy might not be ideal, but we should think carefully before replacing it with something as bad or worse.

Anniebach Fri 27-Sept-19 17:28:44

jennyvg. There has to be security, the public turn out to see
a Windsor wedding , they are not invited, there has to be security for the queen and her immediate family.

Should they all get married in a room in Buck House?

I do not agree with the carriage parade around Windsor .

Anniebach Fri 27-Sept-19 17:32:33

Day6, good grief did Megan and Harry say that , yuck.
