I'm not a royalist either and have no interest it what they are doing or who a minor royal is marrying , but some of paddyanns comments are valid and some even I wouldnt voice

I read he's been married before and then got engaged to someone. Apparently he was still living with her (the child's mum) when he took up with Beatrice. Not a good track record she should think again.

I think people are a bit hard on Paddyann. But she is doing a good job in a way by giving people something to be outraged about. Which can be enjoyable for everybody. But when she says royal women have been treated like brood mares, there is some truth in it. Producing children is the prime duty for aristocratic and royal women. They have to produce heirs. Look at poor Diana. Did she have a few years to grow up and adjust and get used to royal life? No. A child immediately. An heir. And then, in spite of her being depressed and fragile. Immediately another one. As a spare. It is what is expected. I dare say they accept and expect it themselves. Could any of these royal princesses say, “I don’t want to have children”? I don’t think so.

It was a turn of phrase which didn't make sense, given that 1. there's no-one of childbearing age in the RF at the moment and 2. the men are also expected to sire the next generation of overprivileged wastrels.

I do appreciate your concern rafichigran but I have a very nice life ..all worked ofr and earned by ME .No cash handouts from any government ....oops child benefit ...but everyone had that .No maternity leave or pay ,no sickness or unemployment benefits either.I'm very happy with my lot my lovely children and beautiful GC .
The ONLY fly in my ointment is my daughters chronic illness.

It's funny Chatriona, I remember all those years ago a young girl I knew ( from a troubled background) had taken a bit of a shine to Diana, the clothes and so on.
When she told me Diana was expecting, I felt really sad. She was far too young.

As for Harry and Megan it has always been thus. Princess Margaret was in the news a lot in her time. The tabloids love the royals and this trip was planned months ago.

I think only a very limited few would find distraction from political events in news of the royals.

Like you I have got in life what I worked for.
I worry about my family and help when I can. I part company with you when you insult the royals like you do. My attitude is that I live my life and let them live theirs.
Their life has no bearing on mine so cannot see the reason to be nasty.

My money is on Kate'n'Wills announcing ANOTHER addition to their froglet brood.....that'll take our minds off the Brexit Bodge-up.

Oh puleese! Why would you think that this announcement has anything to do with politics? Can you not just be happy that a loving couple are getting married? How would you like it if one of your family announced an engagement etc and you were accused of trying to deflect people's attention from something else? Get a grip!!!

After reading so much about the lead up to the wedding of Diana and Charles and their life together afterwards, I can never view a royal wedding in the same way again. The only one I remember fondly is that of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones Not that I was a fan of hers but she just looked so beautiful and, as a teenager at the time, I was enthralled!
