What I did today

Got my jab too WWmk2 in one arm and another in the other - pneumonia. Oh well, all done. So far, so easy. It was interesting to read what you’d said about ‘flu. I love GN - a mine of information.

Came home, had coffee and then we both packed for tomorrow. Husband, my second dad (87y) and my uncle are driving up to Plockton in the West Highlands tomorrow and I’m staying with my aunt in Oldham. She is 77y and has mobility issues plus, sadly for her, she has developed agoraphobia in the last 4 years. So sad to see someone so diminished. She can’t go past her front door, uses a Zimmer frame, and has a Stannah for the stairs. If I stay with her (which is an absolute pleasure - she has a wicked sense of humour!) - it means her husband does get to enjoy a mini break once a year.

Plockton is beautiful. Dad has a family home there, his front door opens onto Loch Carron. Here s a photo of his front garden, if you’re interested ...

Anyway, chilling out this evening, bags in the hall, Chechen roasting in the oven, rosé wine poured!

Can I just say, thanks to anne for starting this friendly thread? I do love hearing what we’ve all been doing during our day.

Sold my house,for the 3rd time in 4 years .Last twice we had the sellers of the ones we wanted to buy withdraw their properties after they had accepted our offer.So fingers well and truly crossed it doesn't happen again.I'd hate to let down this lovely young couple who want ours.
Monday we'll put our offer in for the house we want ...with the proviso its taken off the market and hopefully it should all be plain sailing .This house has 5 bedrooms ,3 bathrooms ,a 33 foot long kitchen and seperate utility space so its a lot of cleaning .I'll be delighted to downsze to 3 bedrooms and one bathroom.There will still be space for my girls to stay and its very close to my sister just 5 minutes wal .I am so looking forward to the move ..maybe I'm jinxing it by being excited.Keep your fingers crossed for me ..please .

A quiet day for me, I had a Sainsbury’s delivery yesterday so didn’t need to go out ( not that I can!)
My GD is staying at her mum’s tonight and my S is out so I am on my own.
Had a Gressingham duck breast in orange sauce for dinner, it was a ready meal, just cook for 40 mins, it was quite nice.
I will have an early night I think.
Just started watching Jurassic Park for the umpteenth time, I may get fed up with it soon.
A friend of my GD’s had a baby boy yesterday, he is gorgeous, he is named Ronnie!!

Urmston my husbands godmother and her husband live in Lochcarron or rather he does she died earlier this year ..My mil who was godmothers cousin couldn't reach her by phone so I called the local GP surgery and they were kind enough to walk along and check on them for me.Sadly jenny died not long after.Its a lovely part of Scotland and although we intended to drive up in the summer we didn't get round to it ..
That road can be scary at times.Wishing your travellers a safe trip

Oh paddyyann fingers & toes crossed for you this time! Moving (or trying to) is so stressful isn’t it? Full of all the ‘unknown unknowns’ out of our control.

Yes anne ‘Hamish* was filmed in Plockton! Aw, the wee Highland terrier was gorgeous - but Robert Carlyle, more so! It was filmed at the end of dad’s street. What a beautiful location. I would love to live there. But it’s too far from our grandchildren and I would miss them too much, so it’s not going to happen. Sad for him too, his parents bought that cottage in 1923.

Local shopping this morning, afternoon sorting out bulging drawers and wardrobe to produce five bin bags to go to the hospice shop on Monday, summer things stored away and winter clothes accessible. A brief feeling to smugness now being enjoyed!

Was finally discharged from hospital yesterday following a hip replacement. I had to stay an extra night because my blood count was low. Had a transfusion yesterday morning and came home in the afternoon. Didn't do much today, a couple of friends visited this afternoon. Being good and doing my exercises, am exhausted now. I think an early night is called for!

Followed doctor's orders (for a change) after my angiogram yesterday and did nothing. I can't use my hand at all for two days and it's a bit of a faff getting dressed.
DH says he was traumatised at having to help me on with my underwear. ?. Not half as much as I was!!

I quite enjoyed having a valid excuse for doing nothing, as I never sit still!
Visits from my children (complete with cakes and flowers) kept me occupied.
They are obviously worried, as this is so out of character for them! .
I spent a lot of time mulling over my diagnosis, which has been a long time coming, but is a relief.
I'm going to make the best of the pampering, before they all revert back to form!!

The highlight of the day was the plumber and, finally, a fixed shower. Huge relief. The low point was probably discovering our internal stop tap is broken. Oh well, plumber is coming back, in fact he may well move in . The in between bits were the food shop and finally finishing the outstanding admin. Not bad.

Marydoll - I seem to have missed you ailment - I miss a lot! - but hope you will be well soon.

What did I do today? No a lot! Had a very bad night - not sure what is the matter, but aches and pains and hot flushes. Could be aftermath of Saturday's flu jab I guess. Did not sleep very much, so have been taking it very easy indeed today. DD and a GD popped in briefly; then I went to see OH in nursing home. He seemed really well - comfortable, relaxed and well-fed, so that is a huge relief.

I have been putting out feelers about houses for sale or rent nearby as I will not be able to sustain NH fees for too long. A friend who lives on an ancient estate (and has just recently moved from the castle to a house in the grounds) got in touch and said they have a house to rent on their estate and she would be happy for me to go and have a look. It has stairs but she said they would be happy to consider a stair lift if I needed it. So.....that is one idea! I will go and take a look.

Night night all.

Had a really bad day. I only slept for a couple of hours last night. I just sobbed my way through the day in between searching for a document which I finally located this evening, a bit of gardening, changing the sheets and cooking a few things before they go off in the fridge. Now in bed in lovely fresh linen, hoping that I can get a few hours kip. It’s so exhausting waiting for sleep to descend ?. Sometimes I just wonder what ‘it’ is all about.

OhMarmight I know the feeling. I have had your sort of day but I have put it down to the antibiotics I am on. I did make a very nice vegetarian stew with dumplings though.
I managed to get DH out for a coffee this morning though.

I've had a very quiet day today.
I rose late as I too had a really bad night, only falling asleep after 03:00.
Did a little bit of washing and made a beef stew for lunch. I sat quietly on the sofa and read during the afternoon, then went I to the kitchen and made some scones for tea.
This evening DD came to use my scales, we weighed ourselves and we both weigh the same in the clothes we were wearing!
She is 5' 7" and slim, I'm 5 ' 3" and plumper than I'd like to be.?
I watched tv for a while and now I'm in bed.
Urmston, I love Plockton. In my youth I joined a group remaking a footpath in the woods above Lochcarron. We camped, and were eaten alive by midges. It was fantastic.?

I had most of the weekend on my own.
My GD worked on Saturday and then spent last night and this morning with her mum and her two half siblings.
My S worked a few hours each day as they are struggling with a complete refit of their premises.
I got up late after reading in bed, prepared the veg for tonight's dinner and did a bit of sorting out, sorely needed as my GD has brought a lot of stuff with her.
We had a roast chicken dinner at 6:30pm , watched Pretty Woman on DVD, I had not seen it for years, cleared the dining room and kitchen and I have now come to bed.

Realised I still had a bag of bulbs left over. It wasn't raining after lunch so I planted them up under the herbaceous plants that will die back until summer when the first cold snap comes. I faffed about a bit this afternoon trying to fix a valueless but much-loved owl brooch that the pin broke on. I think it's worked but won't know for sure until the araldite has properly set. Cooked tea (macaroni, leeks and cheese with a bit of chilli to zing it up). Watched Antiques Roadshow.

I’m in Oldham with my aunt who has agoraphobia and watches a lot of television, bless. She’s 77y, good fun but sadly has severe mobility issues too, hence me being here till Thursday as her ‘companion’ whilst the menfolk are in the West Highlands.

I made dinner then we’ve sat and watched all sorts, now she’s watching ‘Sanditon’ and I’m on here, enjoying a whiskey and coke - my aunt has hers with dry ginger.

I've had a fairly lazy day. I'm on antiBs which is making me tired. I managed to clear half the greenhouse and collect a few tons of green tomatoes which I'll have to deal with later.
I watched a TV whodunnit but must have fallen asleep so I still don't know!
Cooked supper for the 4 of us. We have visitors this week and now I shall go to my bed. Good night everyone .
