This was a very popular thread a few years ago and I thought I would revive it.
We welcome happy days, sad days and even slightly boasting days , every thing that has happened is very welcome.
I said when I mentioned that I might start this thread that my own life was very boring, getting up, eating, GN and going to bed.
How things change.
My 20 year old eldest GC has moved in with me, totally unexpectedly.
She has had a somewhat troubled life which I won’t go into but she is my best friend, the most supportive of my family with my H , she adored her GD and was my best help when he died.
I am somewhat overwhelmed by today’s events but so happy she has chosen to be with me.
To get to the mundane, we have had a lovely roast pork dinner with all the trimmings and I am now enjoying a glass of red before I go and sort the kitchen out.

Plumber came back and sorted the shower temperature which was cool verging on chilly. Just an adjustment, really impressed he offered to come today. Think he really had better move in smile.

Didn’t do much, put some summer jackets up in the loft and retrieved some winter coats. A bit of tidying and that was it. Feel sort of squashed today, head full of worries and little brightness ahead. Irritable as well. Oh well, I’ll probably feel better tomorrow.

Lazy afternoon, dinner out & now watching Sanditon with Glass of Baileys.

There seem to be a lot of us having trouble sleeping - what a pain it is.

I spent a couple of hours at the NH with OH. He was on the bed, lying on his side as he has the start of a pressure sore - they are doing all the right things: changing his position, standing him up on standing aid etc. and district nurse is coming in tomorrow. I hope they an get on top of it speedily - he is so very thin and completely immobile.

This evening I lit the woodburner for a couple of hours - not essential, but lovely to sit round and makes the room feel cosy.

Struggling to get used to living on my own - I have gone from constant demands and trying to adapt to a live-in carer to silence, and only me to care for. Very strange.

I do wish all all a peaceful night's sleep.

Lisagran Sun 13-Oct-19 22:25:37

What did you think of the last episode of Sanditon, moggie?!

Auntieflo Sun 13-Oct-19 22:27:29

I didn't get to Church this morning, and when DH came home, he had the sad news that one of our friends had died, after a fall in her beloved garden. Made me feel rather down.
I have upped my tablets from one a day, to two a day.
Earlier, I prepared a slow cooker meal, belly pork, and it was lovely. A recipe I got from GN.
Today I got back to a little bit of crocheting.
DH seems to have picked up a cold, as he is coughing a lot, so a hot toddy went down a treat before dinner.
Watched Antiques Roadshow, and read a bit.
Now off to bed, so night, night all.

A busy Sunday ,a tenant called at 8'30 to let us know her oven wasn't working so OH went to see if he coulod find the fault and fix it.Alas no ,so we headed to glasgow to buy her a new one and Oh fitted it when we got back.Thats the second new oven this week, they say these things happen in threes so we're taking bets on which tenant it will be next.
Visit from Son,his partner and baby when asked if they wanted tostay for dinner, they said that had been the plan .I took food out of the freezer and peeled potatoes when the door went, neice her boyfriend and his BF had decided to come see us.Its become a regular for both OH's neice and nephew to turn up at odd times.I asked if they'd like to stay for dinner ,Neice is veggie the guys decided on homemade steak pie and I cooked salmon and prawns in a champagne sauce for our neice handcut chips, baby potatoes and two veg all round while the other visitors had decided on poached chicken in a mushroom sauce ,fresh out the oven apple and pear crumble for pudding .Sometimes I think I should open a restaurant .They all left around 9 .Son and his partner raided the freezer for food to save her cooking while he works a late shift this week .Phone call from daughter which lasted almost an hour .OH made some tea and we settled down to watch last nights celebrity Xfactor. It wasn't as bad as I expected.
Hoping for a good day tomorrow, now the house has sold we need our offer acceptd on the new one.Fingers ,toes and eys crossed please.

Good Morning, so far today I have had breakfast, made the bed, hoovered and dusted 5 rooms, dried down shower room, signed into GN smile, ironed sheets and a few pieces of underwear. I'm sitting down now waiting for DH to return from hosp after a scan, hoping it's good news. Will then go out to do some shopping and delivery fabric to the lady who kindly does my soft furnishing requests. Lunch and coffee then tea then sit down - phew!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 14-Oct-19 10:17:33

I’m feeling jaded after my flu jab so taking life in stages today. Do a bit - sit down and repeat?

MawB Mon 14-Oct-19 10:21:29

Ironed underwear ???
Sounds like somebody trying to keep their mind busy
Hope all is well from DH's scan and you can sit down !

M0nica Mon 14-Oct-19 10:32:56

I can tell you what will happen for the whole of today now.

I woke this morning with a vague feeling of unease, but got up bathed etc, then realise as I got dressed that I was feeling a bit under the weather, This sense of being under the weather increased rapidly until by 8.30 I decided I felt so unwell I would go back to bed. Yesterday's runny nose and slight tickle in my throat had turned into a full scale cold and hacking cough and overall sense of feeling really unwell.

At 10.00 I I woke and realised I had a meeting at 11.00, so got up came down to the computer, sent a belated email of apology to the Secretary of the group, also one to my Tai Chi tutor to say I won't be coming to Tai CHi this afternoon.

I am now going to make myself a large lemon and honey, and go back to bed for the rest of the day. DH has taken over the catering for the day.

Brunette10 Mon 14-Oct-19 11:54:13

MawB - I know I'm mad, only iron some underwear wink Yes DH is back and they can't find anything there. They were looking for gallstones but none. However he has to go to own doc for results so keep our fingers crossed. Away to have lunch now more relaxed smile

Marydoll Mon 14-Oct-19 12:22:33

I had early morning GP appointment to bring GP up to speed after my angiogram. The schools are off, so the usual 30 min journey took 10!.

As I'm not allowed to drive, DH had to come.
Going to GP and pharmacy has become a social event for me, as I'm there at least once a week and I know everyone.
DH was getting really exasperated, as I held a long conversation with a total stranger about Bare Minerals make up.
The pharmacy staff suggested that I get a job there, as I'm in so often!?
I'm pretty wiped out now, I didn't realise how weak I am.
An afternoon nap beckons.
Brunette glad to hear scan was ok.

Auntieflo Mon 14-Oct-19 22:22:22

Looks like a lot of us did nothing today ?
I got up late, had breakfast, decided while I had the energy, to make some marmalade, the Mamade type.
Then had to have a sit down to recover. DH made a coffee, then he went out to his monthly lunch and meet with friends.
My lovely new cleaner came and wizzed through the house, leaving us spick and span.
Oh how grateful I am that she can come .
Phone calls from two friends and long catch up chats. One is coming to visit tomorrow.
Bought a crochet pattern from Etsy, that I shall begin later.
Not a lot accomplished, but I am ready for bed, so,
Night, night, all.

Urmstongran Mon 14-Oct-19 22:32:55

Sorry to hear you’ve still got after effects from your ‘flu jab on Saturday WWmk2

I had mine then too, felt a bit ropey yesterday till lunchtime but fine since. Hope you feel more energetic tomorrow.
?

Early morning dental check up. Everything is fine I did not even need to see the hygienist. I then picked up a jumper in M&S and did a small Tesco shop. I went to the optician and chose some frames for glasses to use when I don’t wear my contacts.

Got home and put a load of washing in, dried it and then put it away.

After lunch cycled 5 miles on my exercise bike as I am trying to build strength.

My wonderful handyman arrived to measure up for a couple of shelves. He will also paint the new bathroom floor and ceiling and fix one of our doors.

rubysong Mon 14-Oct-19 23:06:00

I helped with the village hall lunch club this morning and felt quite tired when I got home. There was typing etc. to do this afternoon, (agenda for WI meeting). DH made spag bol for tea. Choir tonight and now I've had the three ginger biscuits which my sister assures me will ensure a good night's sleep.

My PT came this morning & put me through my paces. Much groaning and creaking but I always feel better for it and she talks all the time which is lovely after a silent weekend. This afternoon to my Monday art group where we had a class on use of acrylic inks. I froze, but eventually managed to execute a shell which looked more like Mt Vesuvious and was then persuaded to paint/ink a prawn which was frozen at 2pm but not at 3 when I started it. A bit whiffy but not half as whiffy as the whole sea bass my neighbour had in front of her ?. Home to a phone call from DD3 discussing next weekend. We are scattering my Aunt’s ashes en route to Rye where we are spending 4 days of half term with her DH & 2 GCs.
I’ve just watched a fascinating documentary on BBC4 about Boris Pasternak. Too late really so probably won’t be able to sleep now. Tomorrow I’m going on a day course (birthday present from DD last year) to learn how to crochet, which is on my ‘To Do before I Die’ list. Somehow I don’t think I’m going to be very good at it, but will do my best (I’m all fingers & thumbs).
Sleep well everyone ??

We were up at 4.30 this morning as hubby had to drive to Birmingham to his head office. He finally arrived home about 6'sh, full of cold and took straight to his bed.
I had an appointment at the doctors for some blood test results. Low potassium levels and some abnormal liver function, but the good news, my blood pressure was down. I have to have another blood test in two weeks.
Made a shepherds pie for dinner but DH didn't want to eat so will have it tomorrow. Hopefully he will feel better after a nights sleep.

Luckygirl Tue 15-Oct-19 22:33:56

M0nica - hope your cold improves; and all those with the sniffles, and sniffly spouses.

I am totally wrecked this evening. I drove to nearby village to organise return/delivery of 90 library books in the community hall - van failed to turn up! Then a school governors' meeting, then went to look at a cottage for rent (not suitable), then to nursing home to see OH and play a bit of scrabble with him, then long drive to choral society where I felt quite poorly and giddy - just total exhaustion I think. I drove home very very slowly as I felt so grim, and am just warming the bedroom for me to go and have hopefully a good sleep.

GP took bloods yesterday as I have been feeling unwell and she could not get it to stop bleeding afterwards - I'm on an anti-coag. It even bled onto my lovely new handbag! Grrrr!

cornergran Tue 15-Oct-19 22:54:49

That’s not good lucky, hope you feel so much better very soon.

Better day for me today. Most of the dark cloud has lifted. Some very needed cleaning this morning then after lunch a walk by the shore under a blue sky. Goodness, how did that happen? No sunny days here for what feels like forever.

That was about it other than a couple of phone calls. An unusually ‘ordinary’ but really decent day.

Urmstongran Tue 15-Oct-19 23:23:20

A quiet restful day again in Oldham. My aunt likes her lunch early (I made gammon, baked potato, broccoli and fried tomatoes from their greenhouse).

Then a complete afternoon of sitting chatting about times past within our family, a lot of television (The Chase, an hour of Emmerdale, Joanna Lumley in China about geishand very old repeats of Who Wants to be a Millonaire (says she in an Indian accent as per ‘Slumdog’).

A whiskey each.

Groundhog Day tomorrow. That sounds mean but isn’t meant to, it just reflects my aunt’s smaller down world now with agoraphobia and mobility issues. She hasn’t left her front door in 8 years, it’s so restrictive and sad. I don’t know how she keeps cheery.

Fiachna50 Tue 15-Oct-19 23:30:52

I went for a mammogram today, always a bit iffy re waiting for the results. I waited a good half hour before being taken and there were four other ladies in front of me! Its usually not that busy. After that went for a cuppa tea which I really needed, did some shopping then went home. At the moment Im getting books ready to take to the library tomorrow and I am going to treat myself to an early breakfast at a nice cafe I go to tomorrow morning. Im feeling a bit sore, so off to bed. Goodnight all.

An early start with a trip to the next town for cat litter for my daughter who lives 40 minutes away, then pick up her christmas cards from the printer before we went over to help with housework and finish decorating her hall .Changed 4 beds,1 super king size ,1 double and 2 singles while her dad made up wallpaper paste to get the job done.that why it was left unfinished ,we ran out of paste .Tidied the girls bedrooms and warned them that christmas isn't far away and I would prefer not to have that jumble sale look in the room next time I come to help ..threats and bribery sometimes work they are 8 and 10.
Home to discover the couple who offered on our house have issues with their mortgage ..just when we thought it was all going smoothly .Husband went out for a 7 mile walk while I organised dinner.Watched Holby City and have really just vegged out the rest of the evening.Hope tomorrow brings some positive news about the house .Sleep well ladies ,I intend to

I spent the day emptying cupboards and packing them into cardboard boxes at my second home. I did not realise I had so many pans and baking tins. I spent several hours wiping down shelves and pouring booze down the sink, no way was I carrying half full bottles home.
The heating had tripped out and we got that going again but was cross to find that the last person who had visited left the lights on and nobody has been in the last week.
