Celebrity Crush

I must confess to occasionally getting an attack of palpatations that have nothing to do with a badly digested jammy dodger when certain CHAPS appear on the telly.
Even at my advanced age I'm not immune to a celebrity crush!

Mine are - Monty Don
Kim Bodnia (thanks to Lessismore for reminding me)
Michael Portillo
Jeremy Paxman
Simon Schama
Andrew Scott ( I know, black armbands all round ladies)
And the winner of my Nobel Prize for Hunk of the Year.......DAVID OLUSOGA ( A House Through Time)
I just love to see him staring gravely at the camera when he's about to announce another resident wiped off the face of the earth by typhoid, bankruptcy or lunacy.

I keep a picture of him I cut out of the paper stuck in the back of my diary. He's between my Sacred Heart prayer card, and my Farmfood coupons.

Who do you secretly long for?

She is Kittye

Willow500 Sat 24-Aug-19 17:12:51

OK maybe odd but Peter Drinklage aka Tyrian Lanister on GOT I found strangely attractive and definitely Kit Harington (John Snow)

I've also got a thing for the actor who plays Ronald in the Prime TV show Start up Edi Gathegi - he was even more spectacular with dreadlocks in Twilight.

And talking of Twilight Taylor Lautner as Jacob with long hair (or even short) was very watchable.

Mr W resembled David Essex in his younger (very) days and John Travolta was always a favourite.

Unfortunately I always find someone in whatever latest series/program I'm watching to make it more compulsive viewing - sadly they're always way too young these days to even dream grin

Cillian Murphy too.

Glammy57 Sat 24-Aug-19 17:20:09

So many men, so little time!

Barack Obama - he has it all: intelligence, good looks, great height, sense of humour, nice body.
Ralf Fiennes - the voice.
John Cusack.
Roger Federer - tall, handsome, polite.
Douglas Henshall - a bit short but lovely eyes and accent.
Charles Dance - charming and intelligent.
Brandon Flowers (lead singer of the Killers) - sexy, young, great singing voice.

DanniRae Sat 24-Aug-19 17:27:36

Paul Martin from "Flog It" - he has a certain something I feel but my favourite has always been David Essex. He was so gorgeous when he was younger and is still quite fanciable now blush
Regarding Monty Don I watch his show because I adore his 2 dogs - golden retrievers called Nigel and Nelly!

Aidan Turner, Cazy I met Bradley Walsh a few times at the spa we staying in and I didn't know who he was. Chattered away to him in the lift as I do to everyone. Mr B and I thought afterwards he was famous but didn't know who and thought maybe he was a sports commentator.

But my love is Aidan Turner

All time weak knees go to the younger Elvis I'm afraid. Plus
George Clooney
Eddie Redmayne
Colin Firth
Robert Redford
Jude Law

lemongrove Sat 24-Aug-19 17:58:42

George is still in The Argy Caro but I need to let him go for a few weeks of filming soon.sad
However! ( perks up) we still have Jude Law there on cellar and bar duties ( his amnsesia has allowed us to keep him.)?

Hmmmm, am with you on David Olasoga, he was great in a House Through Time, loved it and he’s easy on the eye and ear.Wonder if he knows he has a cult following on Gransnet?
I also rather like an actor ( can’t think of the name) from The Suspicions of Mr Wicher, very still and unassuming and intelligent and the same in that respect as Michael Kitchen.

KatyK Sat 24-Aug-19 18:11:48

Oh yes Elvis when he was younger. I have a DVD of him at his comeback concert in 1968 dressed in black leather. Wow. All these men are just crushes to me as I was in love with George Harrison. smile

Minniemoo Sat 24-Aug-19 18:16:28

I quite like Daryl from The Walking Dead as well. His real name is Norman. Norman. He just doesn't look like a Norman.

Lessismore Sat 24-Aug-19 18:20:56

Sorry Caro, if its John Majors lips or a bit of haughty Russian or smelly Dane, there's not contest.

DannieRae David Essex autographed my arm (many years ago blush)

I didn't wash that section for weeks!

I totally understand. I’ve had many crushes over the years, but I fell in love with Paul McCartney when I was about ten, and I still think he’s gorgeous

Sara65 Sat 24-Aug-19 18:28:58

I also think the late John Thaw was very sexy, as is the actor who plays young Endeavour, sorry, can’t remember his name, and of course, on the subject of detectives James Hathaway, although I worry he may find me a bit thick!

KatyK Sat 24-Aug-19 18:37:18

Sara Members of my family refer to George 'your George'. I wish! He chatted to me and a few others once (well he chatted, I gawped). As I have bored on here many times, I have many Beatles stories and a picture of myself sitting behind them on stage.

You are one lucky girl! If I’d been a bit older, and didn’t have to put up with my dad rubbishing their lyrics and haircuts, I’d have run away and become a groupie, that way, Paul would have spotted me in the crowd, our eyes would have met, and it would have been goodbye Jane Asher

ineedamum Sat 24-Aug-19 18:48:37

Simon Reeve- he's such a kind man (if only I was younger)

Beckett Sat 24-Aug-19 18:55:38

lemongrove do you mean Paddy Considine (Mr. Whicher)?

kircubbin2000 Sat 24-Aug-19 18:59:41

Quintin Sommerville ,BBC middle East correspondent.

GabriellaG54 Sat 24-Aug-19 19:47:58

It would have to be someone with the looks of Tom Cruise in 'Cocktail', the wildlife knowledge of David Attenborough and Steve Backshall, the Steelyness of Vladimir Putin, the homeliness of Bill Bryson, the peacefulness of Monty Don the ordinaryness of Barak Obama, the cooking skills of Mary Berry, the kindness and dress sense of my OH, the humour of the Seinfeld team (as was), the attitude of BJ, gardening skills of Adam Frost and love horses and cricket, massages and the outdoors.
Still looking....??

Luckygirl Sat 24-Aug-19 19:52:07

Douglas Henshall doesn't seem to have got a look in yet! He'll do for me!
