Recording Boris and partner

I wish you would all stop defending domestic abuse and that was what it was. The neighbours called the police out of concern and quite rightly. The recording shows exactly what was said and throwing of places, glasses or whatever. If that had been your daughter in that situation wouldn't you have wanted someone to help? Stop burying your faces, he is a disgrace and should never be pm. As for Mark Field I hope they throw the book at the bully.

More gossip- She is part of his PR team I believe, he moved in with her after his wife chucked him out, presumably having found out about the affair. She is about the same age as one of his daughters. I can’t see it lasting, but it keeps the media happy. Threats to the neighbours from Boris supporters? That’s going a bit far

Yes, it could well be politically motivated. If you felt strongly that Boris was the wrong man to be Prime Minister and felt that this recording showed a side of him that others should know about you would probably make it known. The neighbours are probably more aware of Boris as a person than we are, for example, for his flagrant disregard of parking fines.

Boris and his partner are human after all - how many people have never had a row with their partners or spouses? Having time to record their conversation and then contacting the newspapers sounds like a set-up to me.

My understanding is that Boris was removed from the flat and went home.
If police attend a suspected "domestic" incident, even in cases where both parties say they are fine, they always ask the person whose property it is if they want the other person to be removed.
It seems that Boris was removed. This, if nothing else, implies that she did not want him there and we do know that she told him to leave and he hadn't gone.
Whilst I don't condone giving the phone recording to the press, I DO think it was the right thing to do to call the police.
Having worked with women escaping abuse and in a refuge, I know that I couldn't sit on my hands and do nothing. As someone else noted, there was another neighbour who spoke out afterwards saying she was just about to call the police when they arrived on the scene, so it's not unreasonable to assume the row was scary or alarming.

That the police found 'no need for further action' would be good enough for me .Who doesn't have 'heated' discussions/disagreements with ones partner at some time .The fact that the one, allegedly? a left winger, who reported this 'incident' had recorded it and then presented their findings to a national newspaper clearly shows other motives' as without a doubt this would not have come to the publics attention and now without a doubt 'around the world' had this incident been about your Mr Average Man in the street.

As as I have already stated in an above post, I believe that calling the police to what was obviously a "strong" domestic incident was the correct action to take.

The recording of the incident was I feel also justified, especially after the woman was heard to shout "get off me." In that, the recording may well have proved to be crucial evidence had anyone been injured or the police felt that further action was necessary.

In regard to releasing that recording to the press, then there is an obvious public interest in this incident as the leading newspapers at present so graphically demonstrate. However, everyone is entitled to a private life, but if you are looking to become the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, perhaps that private life should be very stable and quiet.

Not going to make any difference, I am sure he will still get the job as pm.
Not my party the nasty party whoever gets in not going to make an difference to dh and I. May said we are all in this together, waiting to see where we come in.

It is right thing to call the police he was asked to leave and refused going to the press well I guess it just adds fuel to the fire and alongside his apparent drug use in his youth does this make him fit for office No! But the others are no better so better the devil you know?

Such behaviour being in the public domain makes him a security risk for blackmail.

The Times has an informative article on who 'she' is, and on who the neighbours are - all VERY VERY wealthy people with clear agendas.

If so, I feel that you are placing politics before someones personal safety.

None of them come out of it very well, quite frankly - Boris, his girlfriend or the neighbours who recorded it and went to the press with the recording.
All very well phoning the police if they were concerned about a woman's safety - but they obviously had an ulterior motive.

Or a man's safety for that matter - why does everyone assume that it is necessarily a woman who may be subjected to domestic violence? How do we know that Carrie was not flinging crockery at Boris and he tried to restrain her, hence 'Get off me'?

Johnson or not, if I heard a woman screaming 'get off me' and 'get out of the flat' accompanied by crashing and banging, I too would phone the police.

I don't think anyone is saying they were wrong to call the police - I would have done so myself. What is questionable is after being told by the police that all was well they sent the recording to the press.
