Do you have heatstroke or are you genuinely suggesting concerned neighbours shouldn’t call the police when they hear a woman screaming? This isn’t about politics or ‘surveillance’ and it’s shameful you’ve spun it that way. Please give @womensaid a call and they’ll explain.

They would not have been paid by the guardian, it’s not a tabloid and also the couple in question are wealthy. She’s the daughter of millionaire, they own a large house and she’s a successful playwright.
Boris and Carrie were shouting, screaming and smashing things so loud that 5 separate households were concerned, they lost their privacy there I’m afraid.
I want to know about these issues about a prospective prime minster, and Boris is a liability in his personal life.
And before anyone has a go, as gransnet appears to be a leave/Tory strong hold. I was my whole life a labour voter, but then voted leave, and subsequently voted for Tory candidates, however now, since Brexit has impacted career opportunities for my son and he is now immigrating abroad, I’m back to labour, as I’m concerned about the NHS being privatised and no longer wish for Brexit. (Though I loath Jeremy Corbyn it’s the lesser of two evils)

I would call the police whoever it was.

I would also tell the MSM if it was a person who was going for PM of U.K. whoever they were.

Not to make it public would be a abrogation of my public duty.

So yes a female screaming is a huge cause for concern and yes it is essential that we have an idea of the individuals character and morals if we are voting for someone. Who wants to be PM.

Well done Dilly for admitting that you voted leave but have now changed your mind and now want us to remain in the EU.

However you should question the idea that you have to vote for the lesser of two evils .The two party system is breaking down. The strongest party of Remain is the LibDems who are clearly ahead of both Tory and Labour.

If they were genuinely concerned something was amiss, fair enough to call the Police. But surely that’s where their involvement should have stopped.
Going to the press with the recording was an absolute ‘stitch up’ in my opinion, but everyone’s entitled to their own.

Neighbour was not paid it seems. He thought, in my view quite rightly, that the character and behaviour of the person who might have their finger on the nuclear button and the potential to destroy the planet is of serious public interest, whatever your political allegiance or stance on Brexit.

Those with manners don’t scream and shout in a flat with lots of adjacent neighbours at 1 am. Minding your own business should not extend to fears of domestic violence or abuse. People have literally been murdered when people have minded their own business. I can’t imagine this will enhance Boris’ reputation or his career in anyway. I know those in his thrall won’t care, as Trump said he could get away with shooting someone and people would still vote for him. People get the politicians they deserve.

It seems very strange that on a forum dominated by women, there are those that feel nothing should be done by others, even when they hear a woman shout "get off me."

As a man, if I had heard any woman neighbour shout the above when there is obviously a "strong" domestic incident taking place, I would most definitely call the police.

The neighbour who recorded the argument says herself she is a leftie. Aren’t they always on daddy’s millions? She was born in New York and ‘hates the Tory party’.

If this couple genuinely believed someone was in danger, then they had a duty to report this row to the police.

What they did NOT have to do, was record the row and then release than recording to the press.

Would they have been as keen to do their "duty" had their neighbours been Mr and Mrs Smith. I suspect not. They are neighbours who used this incident for their own political agenda.

I think someone who aspires to be our Prime Minister should expect to be under more scrutiny than Mr and Mrs Smith.

ug you are conflating two different things. You will never know if they would have reported the incident to the police if it was someone else, I would and I assume so would they.

I have mixed feelings about this. Calling the police I fully endorse, the recording and the press are another question. But if you live next door to Boris it must be a constant temptation to do so. The trouble is I suspect that this story may have entirely the opposite effect, leading the Tory faithful to think 'Poor Boris' and vote for him even more, as they reach the conclusion it's all a left wing plot to keep him out of No.10 and stop Brexit.

Sounds like an abusive relationship to me. Its a pity people don't recognise it for what it is. Its not just an ordinary row when plates etc are being thrown about .
