Charleyg I too am worried about Tara's symptoms. All we animal lovers ever want is for our beloved pets to be as healthy as possible. The cost is eye-watering but, it's part and parcel of caring.

Not gluten free Corner but DH and GS have been baking this afternoon and this car crash creation (well they both begin with C!) is the result. The Boy could not grasp the concept of feather icing, which we will no doubt revisit at a later date, and his dad wanted to know if the bits on the top were chopped spam. They are actually raspberry fudge pieces! The bakers have now turned their attention to the cup final and left yours truly to clean up the kitchen! Welcome Nannyfaraway!

Greyduster Well I think that the cake is a winner. I'm prepared to sample it. Well done to Mr Grey and your grandson. I think that it's very important for cookery skills to be passed on to the younger generation. My late mother taught me how to make rock cakes. My father taught me to make a delicious Yorkshire pudding (with the meat juices dripped into the centre).

Guess where we went this morning. The village hall hosted a plant and bake sale. It was extremely well attended. We bought a home baked vegetable flan, fruit slices, rhubarb, a few plants and...ta dah...the following black cat ornament for £1. Am I chuffed? You bet.

The £1 cat ornament is so like our beloved late Rory. I looked across the crowded room and it begged me to take it home.

Away to cook the rhubarb. I shall have some with rice pudding a little later.

The photo of the ' dear man' is great in a way as he obviously feels he is strong enough to still do it but blimey it made me hope he stays safe.

I hope Galen hasn’t done what an 80-year old friend did a few years ago.
She was getting very bored with the company on her Nordic cruise so when they put into somewhere for sightseeing, she jumped ship. Took a little hand luggage, leaving instructions for sending her other luggage to her home, went to the local railway station and got on a train to Bergen I think, and got a flight home! !
She did ring her daughter back in this country to warn her though!

soop the minx is not well and is very clingy but of course she does not understand she has not improved the situation by being difficult.

As corner said it would have been easier all around especially for her if I had been there. She has delayed things until next Wednesday. Again she has not gone out so she and I will watch the football. she will be close to me which is what she wants.

I can supplement Tara's wages by loitering at a street corner with a bag over my head.

Seriously I only hope I do not have to take her as an emergency because she is definitely not herself.

I will give her a big cuddle from all of you cat lovers.

I have been making sandwiches for the Five Thousand, I mean Flynn’s 3rd birthday picnic in Waltham Forest tomorrow- he invites everybody he meets- including the old man mending his car across the road, the Turkish ladies DD buys spinach pancakes from, so I thought I better make plenty.
So now I am sitting down with a dram and a ham, cheese and pickle sandwich made out of the loaf ends!
Hattie has enjoyed great titbits from the trimmings (because of course I have cut all the crusts off!)
Some weird songs I can’t see them catching on.

Feelingmyage55, I`m not watching Eurovision, I`m watching BGT, and have just heard some beautiful singing from some young members of Truro Cathedral choir, it was lovely.

Maw I cannot believe that Flynn will be 3 years old-time certainly does fly.

I have switched over to BBC Young Dancer final from Birmingham Hippodrome- wonderful dancing, such talented young people.

And I have just bought my tickets for the Matthew Bourne touring ballet Romeo and Juliet .

I’m loving the photographs. Not only a beautiful view from your garden soop but what an amazingly gorgeous sunset.

And that cake Greyduster looks bluddy fantastic! I wish I could bake.

My second dad has a house in the Highlands. Plockton. Does anyone know of it? It’s near the Isle of Skye. He is 86y now and his parents bought it in 1925. It has 5 bedrooms all facing the front of the house, over Loch Carron. I would honestly live there if it wasn’t so far from Manchester and the family and grandchildren. It’s a beautiful, peaceful village.

This is the view from his front door. He has decided to sell the house later this year. I know the thought saddens him greatly but as he said to me and his cousin in the village recently, I can’t take it with me.

It’s where ‘Hamish McBeth’ was filmed in the 1990’s. Remember that? Used to be on of a Sunday evening (nice gentle viewing similar to Call the Midwife) and it starred .... (gosh I cannot think of the actors name) who had a little Westie dog in the series.

Dad used to love watching the programme spotting all the places he knew and loves. Recently the crofters (of which his cousin is one) voted to allow the Highland cattle to graze in the village again after a lapse of 15y. The council will be getting complaints from incomers if their window boxes get munched!

Sorry for this long and non relevant post. I hope I haven’t bored you all. It’s just that the family have been talking about the place this week and I suppose it’s on my mind. It will be a wrench when it goes.

Ooh just popped in my head (hurrah! Thank you memory!) the actor’s name was Robert Carlisle (?sp). Don’t you just love it when something pings back?
