Oooooh I’m all excited now......

MawBroonsback Sat 18-May-19 07:01:42

Thank you Callgirl for your kind words. I cannot believe GNHQ deleted one of your posts! Why on earth would anybody report you? It must have been all the “effing and blinding” gringrin - as if!
I heard Marty Wilde on Loose Ends the other Saturday - last week? Amazing for any age but is he really 80? Hope for the rest of us yet!

Resurgam123 Sat 18-May-19 07:20:33

One thing that has really cheered me up is the blackbirds in my garden this year.
I would love to know how many hours they spend singing in one day. Someone has probably worked that out.

That and the little robins sticking their noses into every thing.
And my garden is looking good .

Nannytopsy Sat 18-May-19 07:34:43

I think the weather over the winter has been kind to the gardens Resurgam - mine is looking good too. Last summer’s baking has given me a fabulous display of flag iris too.

Resurgam123 Sat 18-May-19 07:57:23

Nannytopsy.

I have only just grown some Iris. They were in the garden cheap leftover area a couple of years ago and they are looking good .
I am not sure of the difference between types of Iris,s. They are yellow and white. I think they were some other ones.

Are the "flag Iris" the ones that like dry sunshine or the water?.

Morning All. Blimey callgirl, a deleted post? Really? Can’t imagine what you could have said, onwards and upwards.

Very quiet here this morning. Mr C seems to have taken advice to rest after yesterday’s procedure to heart and is still asleep. I need to do a food shop at some point, otherwise think I’ll be demonstrating resting in case Mr C forgets how to do it grin.

TOYA, take care everyone.

Surprisingly bright this morning. It was raining last night when I got home from the cinema. The film was Tolkien, a biopic about the Lord of the Rings author which was far more interesting than I expected.
Had a remarkably vivid dream last night. I was dancing the Gay Gordons with a very dishy young man (I was young too) who looked not unlike George Cluny. We went through all the phases of the dance twice and the music was playing in my head. Oh what a lovely dream! I wish it was a serial and I could have another chapter tonight! On second thoughts, that might be a let-down.
callgirl, lke Maw, I can't believe that you, a Gransnet veteran, had a post deleted. What is it coming to?
Good to see you safely back here Resurgam. The yellow flag irises are water-loving. I tried to plant some alongside 'my' brook, but nothing happened. From a couple of tubers, bought years ago, I have a huge clump of Siberian Irises, beautiful blue ones that look rather like the shop-bought irises but don't last long as cut flowers.
Have a good weekend, all. TOYA

Nannytopsy Sat 18-May-19 09:02:21

Yes Anno is right and the big floppy flowers from big tubers are flag iris which come in lots of colours. I have some white Siberian iris too.
Best wishes to MrC

Have just popped in to say I shall return later. Here is last night's view through the window.

To keep my mind active I try and do the crossword in the paper every day. Sometimes I have to look up an answer in a Crossword Solver when I’m stuck. Many of you know I am dyslexic but I was stumped this morning when my misspelt search for Asian desert ? came up with the answer “apple pie” blush

On my way home

Charleygirl5 Sat 18-May-19 13:00:36

My dishwasher has packed up and I took Tara to the vet yesterday as she is drinking too much water. The bill including blood tests was to be £194. She apparently curled up into a ball and would not allow anybody near her so they gave up. I was in the waiting room. She is going back on Wednesday to be sedated and the bill rockets to £450 or thereabouts. I am meeting for coffee with GNs later and I will need to be anaesthetised I think.

I think it would have been easier for her if I had been there.

callgirl that really is nonsense- what on earth did you do or say? Was Mia up to her tricks?!

soop I really think that MacSporran's days of ladder climbing are well over. You have yourself to care for, please do not allow him to be added to your list! I think ladder climbing for light bulbs only and that is an order.

Panache things are definitely improving at last and not before time. Please join the number of folk supposed to be resting but who rarely listen.
TOYA

Dramatic sunset soop.
Hope the cruise was lovely Galen

MawBroonsback Sat 18-May-19 13:40:36

Ouch Charleygirl I feel the pain in your cheque book.
Why do these things sneak up on us?
I had a theory when we were young marrieds with barely two pennies to rub together, that as long as I had £100 or even £50 in the building society I felt secure. It was when that savings account had dwindled or disappeared altogether that the domestic appliances or the utility bills would gang up on me.
Rainy days used to happen too frequently- still do.
I sincerely hope there is nothing amiss with Tara though, always a worry.
Hattie has taken to sneaking upstairs to a spare bed to rest her eyes and benefit from the sunshine on that side of the house. I haven’t the heart to disturb her!

Gonegirl Sat 18-May-19 13:42:47

Maw - best to stay in here for a little while. winkwink

Can't say anymore.

MawBroonsback Sat 18-May-19 13:44:10

Sheltering!

MawBroonsback Sat 18-May-19 13:46:24

See what you mean Gonegirl gringrin
“24 times in 3 pages?”
Who on earth has the time to count that sort of thing anyway?
I’d better keep mum!

Gonegirl Sat 18-May-19 14:06:20

grin

Doodle Sat 18-May-19 14:06:55

maw and goneg, you do realise that instead of going shopping I am now going to have to sit here and go through all the threads to find out what you are talking about (can’t help being nosey blush)

Charleygirl5 Sat 18-May-19 14:11:40

Maw with her age and symptoms I think it may be kidney problems so heaven knows what the cost of treatment will be.

I am not sure where she is, probably like Hattie, crept upstairs but she now prefers her cat bed and has left "her" bed and room alone. Why- I do not have a clue. She is as loving as ever, even at 5.30am today but that was not appreciated by me.

Nannyfaraway Sat 18-May-19 14:11:46

Hi everyone. I haven't been on Gransnet very long. Is anyone allowed to enter this kitchen?

Charleygirl5 Sat 18-May-19 14:22:49

Welcome Nannyfaraway and join the crowd. The most important thing is you are a cake baker as we (not myself) have rather sweet teeth. I prefer savoury unless it is carrot cake!

MawBroonsback Sat 18-May-19 14:29:59

Doodle make sure you count the posts! wink

Doodle Sat 18-May-19 14:30:15

Welcome nannyfaraway. You are indeed allowed in. All are welcome especially if they bring a nice gooey chocolate cake (just my own personal preference you understand ?)

cornergran Sat 18-May-19 16:18:53

Please could the chocolate cake be gluten free? Hello nannyfaraway, good to see you.

cornergran Sat 18-May-19 16:26:13

Just seen your post charley, that must have been upsetting, it would have been sensible to have asked you to be with Tara, I'm sure she would have cooperated then. Try not to worry, she's a resilient soul.

That image takes me right to the fjords galen, hope you're nicely relaxed now.

No idea what's been happening out there on GN mawb, but it does sound as if sheltering is a good plan.

I seem to be losing on the 'you should be resting' front so have given up. Mr C is an adult and so in charge of himself she walks away repeating to herself.
