Oooooh I’m all excited now......

MawBroonsback Sat 25-May-19 14:06:01

I am sorry to hear you are not feeling great soop I hope things clear up a bit for you and that you get whatever treatment you need.
Synonymous I can understand your frustration and “losing it” when things went wrong for your H. You have been carrying the strain for so long, something was about to snap sooner or later.
A holiday might help, but if it involves so many complications, it may not give you the respite and relaxation you clearly need. I am sure you will make the right decision.
It is a beautiful day here, sunny but not too hot and I am perfectly content to do as little asI can get away with.
A “light read” in the form of an Anna Jacobs book, a glass of Diet Coke and the garden.
For once I am not seeing any family and actually feel fine with that - so that must be progress!

soop Sat 25-May-19 17:07:03

Synonymous I gasped on reading about your husband's unbalancing act in the bathroom. Yes...he could have done himself a right royal mischief. You on the other hand, would be duty bound to give him yet more support as he attempted to get himself back on track. Naturally you are zapped of energy. It's been a hugely stressful time and you are running on empty. Enjoy your daughter's visit. If you get a quiet moment, share your feelings with her. It is good to share. In doing so, somehow the heavy load of responsibility seems a little lighter.
You both deserve a proper break from routine. I hope that, before too long, you may be able to organise something.

Both MacSporran and I talk about taking a wee break. Thus far we haven't committed ourselves to anything.

I took my book to bed this afternoon. Read several chapters. Watched the birds flitting around the feeders outside the window. Saw a steady soaking of much-needed rain fall on the lush vegetation.

The rubgy match begins at 6:30 and I have already cleared the ironing so that I can relax during the thrills and spills.

I am thinking of you ALL. I also wish you a pleasant and peaceful Saturday evening.

Until tomorrow...smile moon and thank you.

Synonymous
You can get wheelchair accessible accommodation on cruises.
They are usually cheaper than the usual cbins and twice the size!

Charleygirl5 Sat 25-May-19 17:30:27

soop if surgery was possible soon for the latest buggeration would it not be better waiting to have a holiday/convalescence then because I cannot see it being very pleasant or comfortable in your present state having a holiday.

Rugby, cricket and horse racing are three sports which pass me by totally. Enjoy.

cornergran Sat 25-May-19 17:41:15

Oh soop, letting off steam is essential, otherwise you’ll go pop a bit like a pressure cooker with no steam valve. So please, just say what you need to. If you can cope it does sound as if talking to your GP about a referral to reinstate the surgery could make a huge difference to your quality of life. Sending a huge hug.

We all get to the end of our tether sometimes synonymous and truly your husband wasn’t the most sensible. Don’t give yourself a hard time. I’m so sorry for the name of this organisation, it’s not the most friendly, but a former neighbour used disabledholidays.com and enjoyed a holiday in a wheelchair friendly hotel. We all need a break at times.

Good to hear Tara is her usual bossy self charley. I visited a neighbour who has recently inherited a cat yesterday. I was assured the cat is friendly and will go to anyone. She took one look at me and stalked away, hmm, what does that say? grin.

Fortunately Mr C was recovered today so we were able to spend some valued time with part of the family. Life is so busy for them we worry about being a nuisance. Enjoyed some shopping afterwards and then sat in a motorway car park for what felt like forever on the way back. Still, it was worth it.

Fabulous photos grannyq, all very calming.

Hope that tooth is sorted kitty. Doesn’t sound good.

It seems it’s time for more food so the kitchen elf had best depart.

TOYA, be good everyone.

Swanny Sat 25-May-19 18:40:34

soop so pleased to see you offload (some of?) your trials and tribulations here. You facilitate that for so many of us that I was seriously worried about you bottling up your own worries flowers

syn did I read that right? You DH tried to balance himself on the bathroom scales on one leg? For a moment I thought you were going to say he overbalanced into the toilet pan grin A neighbour moved in a couple of years ago after a leg amputation. His previous home had a flight of stairs to the front door and he became housebound. He was 'over the moon' to move here, where he had ease of access at front and back doors. Unfortunately he later had to have the second leg amputated and that just would not heal and the visiting health 'care' was inconsistent. After a further hospitalisation he was rehabilitated to a nursing home, where he decided to stay as the wound was receiving daily attention and subsequently healed. A couple of neighbours regularly visit him and he comes to see us here too. I think what I'm getting at is that we worried more about him than he did himself. He's kept his infectious humour, his enjoyment of life and his determination to not 'let the bu**ers grind you down' grin

Izabella Sat 25-May-19 18:40:35

Goodness me, so much traffic in the kitchen, newcomers (welcome all) lovely pictures - and alas, continuance of buggerations all round. Virtual calming thoughts to all who need them.

I have had a rough few days myself, but the fog now lifting slowly. I feel good for a few days and then Alf (my new term for the Alzheimers) takes me to task for a while. I now have a f***it bucket for things I can no longer do. Several things in there now, and no doubt more to follow ? For the moment I have enjoyed sunshine today and tonight it will be the company of good friends. What would we do without them and the kitchen. Special thoughts to soop

Lins1066 Sat 25-May-19 18:46:08

A lovely afternoon with us after a cloudy and chilly day yesterday. DH has mowed the lawn, and watched the qualifying from Monte Carlo and is pleased as punch that Lewis Hamilton is on pole position.

grannyq I always enjoy your photos, robins are a favourite of mine. We have two resident in our garden.

Maw your new hair cut suits you and is very stylish.

Soop I'm sorry to hear about your buggerations. I hope that you receive some rest and the treatment you need very soon.
I hope that Mr Syn is recovered and you both enjoy your daughter's visit.

* Callgirl*such good news about your son. He has put on weight too, no wonder his GP was pleased.

Has Tara returned yet Charleygirl, she must be on a weekend jaunt and will return when tired and hungry, cats like their comforts.
Rascal - CharleyGirl gave you spot on instructions for finding the kitchen.

Hugs to dragonfly hope everything goes well for you on Tuesday.
There is a stock pot with homemade vegetable soup on the work top along with cheese scones ( not homemade sadly)
It maybe May but it's still non too warm here.

Have a good evening all and TOYA to those with worries.

Charleygirl5 Sat 25-May-19 19:13:24

Lins it is usually Tara's bladder and bowls which bring her home because she does not lift her tail outside these days.

It is after 7 pm I am hoping madam will appear fairly soon and I can start cooking my supper in peace. I usually have it cooked when she marches in looking for attention but that is why I am here- silly me.

Izabella sorry to hear you have had a fog irritating you recently and I hope it has gone for a while.
TOYA

Doodle Sat 25-May-19 19:42:16

synonymous I post this realising what I am about to suggest is costly and I have no idea if it’s too much. You mention a holiday and wheelchairs. Have you considered a Saga Cruise. They pick you up from the front door. Have wheelchair accessible rooms and no self catering. Just a suggestion.
soop so sorry you are not feeling up to the mark at the moment. Sending you my best wishes and hope you get your surgery soon if you are fit enough.
Welcome Avor you and your DH look very jolly. Nice to meet you.
dragonfly hope you enjoy your meeting with your friend

Doodle Sat 25-May-19 19:45:44

izabella your sense of humour does you proud. Glad the fog has lifted for the moment.

DH and I were out walking this afternoon and we came across 3 young goslings who had got separated from mum and dad by an iron railing. Gosling being small had farted through. Mum and dad on the other side couldn’t. Gosling were reasonably happy pecking about on the grass but mum and dad were frantic. They kept trying to squeeze themselves through the bars and making such a noise. They tried running (goose version of running) at the railings and throwing themselves at the railings to try and get to their babies. They were getting quite distraught. I couldn’t leave them like that so DH and I spent about 10 minutes very gently trying to coax 3 wayward goslings back through the railings to mum and dad. Eventually the family were reunited. Mum and dad checked everyone over and all seemed well. At that point, DH discovered that the large 6ft iron gate that we assumed was locked, wasn’t! We could have just opened the gat and let mum and dad through. Oh well, at least it gave the onlookers something to laugh at blush

Doodle Sat 25-May-19 19:55:57

Please note, I am assuming goslings darted through the railings rather than farted through them blush .... mind you seeing the mess they make ..?

Nannylovesshopping Sat 25-May-19 20:17:17

?I like the thought of them farting through the railings!

Urmstongran Sat 25-May-19 20:57:32

Good evening to everyone in soops lovely kitchen.

Not sure if savouries are as popular in the kitchen? I know cake is very popular but - but Maybe with a glass ?? or two! ??. Yep, that’s me this evening in Malaga!

Swanny Sat 25-May-19 21:00:24

Lo siento.

?

Swanny Sat 25-May-19 21:34:12

Izabella you have my utmost admiration. I have been close to people with dementia personally and professionally over many years, and you are a star! If only you were able to give so many others your positive attitude smile Please keep posting, no matter what about, as you are helping us to understand how it is for you flowers

annsixty Sat 25-May-19 21:40:06

You dont get away as easily as that Urmston which one is you and what are you drinking?
I did lamb chops tonight with jersey royals, longstemmed broccoli and mushrooms.
Had a nice glass of red and when I took my second glass outside it was raining!!
A total surprise as it was still warm.
I am not coping as well as I make it sound, it is an effort but I am determined not to give in to moping and am trying to carry on as I would have done before.

Urmstongran Sat 25-May-19 21:43:30

Maw your afternoon sounded perfectly lovely. Being alone is not the same as being lonely indeed. It does sound as though you are finding a place of contentment. It’s not what you would wish, but perhaps it’s ‘good enough’ bless you.
x

Urmstongran Sat 25-May-19 21:45:44

Bless you annesixty for doing your very best on a Saturday evening. Your late husband would’ve been proud of you I bet.

Yep, I’m hiding in plain sight here!

Which one is me do you think?

Swanny Sat 25-May-19 21:46:41

Urmstongran I believe the translation from the ancient Scottish is 'Long may your chimney smoke' - meaning long life and happiness. I had an 'auld wee' scottish granny' (old little etc etc) who would come out with these phrases from time to time, but the little family history I have explored it could just have easily come from the Irish!
