Hello you people, I am new, hope it is ok for me to join you all. Have been reading up on the forums, and am loving it. I Live in Essex with DH and our 2 dogs, we have 2 DS's and 2 DILs and 2 GGD's (hope I am getting all my acronyms right) one lives in Somerset the others in Portugal, do you think they are trying to tell us something??!!?? (just noticed we have everything in twos) DS just came of out hospital after the third operation he has had in 2 years, lets hope life will be a little bit better now. Looking to downsize to a bungalow as I find it hard to get up and down stairs with my arthritis (they never said it would be like this)! just lost our buyer so back to square one. So I will enjoy my garden whilst I still have it. and I look forward to popping into the soop kitchen to see you all. Good night for now. ps pic of myself and DH enjoying the sun

greyduster i was interested to hear about your visit to Hardwick Hall. We’ve stayed very near there a few times but not managed to visit it yet...maybe next time.

We've had a good day with our family visitors, my bil and his wife - not always the easiest to rub along with! We visited some local gardens which seemed to tick the boxes for them both. It’s always beautiful there and never fails to please us so was glad they enjoyed it too. As well as the beautiful flowers which are always a delight we enjoyed watching a robin and a blackbird chilling out and cooling off. Then when we came back to the house I spotted a woodpecker passing by and lingering for a moment on our bird feeder in the garden, I do hope he comes back again tomorrow!

Good morning all. Every time I step outside to work in the garden, the sky turns black and it pours with rain, irrespective of the weather forecast. Therefore I have made cheese scones and they are on the side. Comfort food. I am having one with a cup of tea then bracing myself to phone a family member who might or might not be in a good mood. I will as usual be walking on eggshells. However I have a good book to keep me company afterwards and am invited to a birthday barbecue this evening. Tips for walking on eggshells welcome - wear big boots?

Ps panache So pleased about the flat - I expect the staff there will help with recommendations for trades people and may have their own maintenance staff who will do decorating etc for you. Some staff may also be allowed to help you as an extra. Certainly they will be a source of info as your situation will be routine to them although it is a million miles from that to you. TOY

It is warm and sunny day here.
Since Monday my neighbour and I walk round the block together in an effort to keep our joints moving.
Next week we will try a little bit further, just doing 15 mins at present.
Good news from Panache at last.
When my friend moved into M'Carthy and Stone the firm did everything, at a cost of course , but it went very smoothly.
She was downsizing and made a large profit which she was prepared to spend.

She had all new smaller furniture but didn't need a lot for a onebedroom, one living space.
She chose soft furnishings and carpets through the firm and they were all in place.

Better news from morethan and callgirl fingers firmly crossed.

dragonfly I can only imagine how you must be feeling as you patiently wait for your treatment to proceed to the next stage.
My diagnosis and surgery happened so fast I hardly had time to think about too much other than getting in and out of hospital.
I was 100% confident from the word go. I came home and felt marvellous and upbeat. After the Zoledronic acid infusion, the pain in my bones became a big issue. Then I had to take hormone tabs to curtail my natural levels of oestrogen. I feel totally washed out. What's more, the anterior posterior prolapse (that would have been corrected with surgery , had I not had the mastectomy) is so much worse. I am drained. So many wees during the night. Up to half a dozen, mean I wake up as tired as when I took to my bed. Add to that, the recurring UTI's and buggerations are compounded.

I apologise for sounding off. It's not what I intended to do. Far from it. However, it has helped to let off pent-up emotions. Thank you for being there.

ann You are doing the right thing in taking care of your joints. A little exercise can improve one's mobility no end. It's also good to hear that you have the companionship of a like-mined friend.

So sorry for you soop you are normally do upbeat that we realise just how awful you are feeling.
With reference to the hormone tabs, are they tamoxifen,
I grateful on those, hotflushes, no sleep and feeling very low.
The consultant changed me to Arimidex and I was much better on those.
I took them for about seven and a half years when it was decided I could stop.
Weight gain was also an issue, but I have never lost.it. I am round and cuddly.

It is a murky day in Kintyre. No sign of the islands as they are shrouded in a heavy mist. The midges are emerging. Little critters! We have enjoyed a very long spell of hot, sunny, dry weather. It's only fair that we have a share of the danker days.

It should have read, I felt awful on Tamoxifen.

ann My tabs are Letrazole. I have to take them for the next ten years. My late Mother took Tamoxifan after a double mastectomy. She survived for four years thereafter.
I am sorry to moan. I really do not like feeling so completely out of sorts. Perhaps I should return to the GP and accept that the time is right for the prolapse surgery appointment to be reinstated.

That's enough of my woes. No more mention of such personal buggerations concerning moi for a very long time.

soop that sounds horrendous, that really is one buggeration too far and the sooner you can have surgery the better. With luck, you will be seen as a matter of urgency.

I do ap[preciate it is difficult but do rest as much as possible. Is the weekly ironing for that lady not a temporary step too far?

Charleyg How is Tara?. Brodie didn't visit last night. I've a feeling that he'll turn up over the weekend.

I have a wee amount of ironing to do as I watch the rugby match this afternoon. I shall be rooting for Glasgow Warriors...naturally.

Thanks soop Tara is fine- ran out of the front door today when I got up around 8 am. She will be under a shed or a bush somewhere close by enjoying the warmth. It will be different next week if she starts on drugs because she is a little devil and will not take anything.

I will also have to discuss with the vet what to do about the nodule on her inner lower lip. She will not allow me remotely near it- cuddles and strokes only.

Brodie I think knows if he does not fancy a hot meal he has a scrumptious cold one waiting for him and he can have a short rest also if he fancies. It appeals to me too so he had better watch out! I also do not always fancy cooking so I know how he feels.

At least you will be resting when watching the rugby but please do not get over excited!

Ooops! The match starts at 6:30. There was I thinking that it was a 2:30 kick off.

Dear soop I think you are right and that it is time for the other surgery to be done. Hopefully at the same time you can get the other meds checked out and possibly changed for something you can tolerate better. You are doing so well and are wise to get all the things that are bothering you sorted so that you won't get dragged down too low.
Himself has graduated to walking with a stick and was like a dog with two tails - and then he stopped being cautious and overdid it with the result that he couldn't wear his leg at all. Then he tried to stand on our wobbly bathroom scales on his one leg without any support and surprise, surprise he fell straight on to the stump. I am afraid that was the point at which I lost it. Shouldn't have, I know, because we both had a fright. If he damages it badly there could be very serious consequences and he knows that but suddenly he is feeling he can do absolutely anything even to the point he forgets he no longer has a leg to balance himself on. I am so pleased he feels so well and is so positive but it does need to be balanced out with caution.
As for me I am so desperately tired. It seems that as Himself gets better daily I am going down the swanny and have been feeling unable to function all week with no energy at all - not even to come into the kitchen!
We really need a holiday but ..... how? There are so many things we need to consider as he uses his wheelchair every day and not many places are wheelchair accessible and self catering is definitely not an option. It just seems like another problem to tackle.
Never mind DD arrives today for a (too) short visit which is lovely and we are determined to enjoy and make the most of it.

Soop I take Anastrozole which is similar to Letrazole. I find the side effects come and go. They are particularly bad if I do not drink lots of water but I can imagine with your other problems you do not feel like doing that. I hope it gets better for you and that you can have your other buggerations seen to. As I take another drug as well it is hard sometimes to know which is causing the problem but I am off the other drug for one week in four. It could be that Anastrozole will suit you better!

I am off to have coffee with a friend this afternoon so can offload. I find my DH is still in pain and cannot really cope with my problems at the moment.

The Arimidex I took has the generic name Anastrozole, I was fine on that although I think I had to have Dexa scans at some point.

Synonymous it is great to hear that DH is progressing so well but would you like me to read him the riot act? He is being extremely foolish trying to balance on one leg- he is not 12.

You do not need self catering- you need a rest!
