I saw Cream at the students’ union and when they’d finished playing Ginger Baker just got off the stage, walked the length of the hall to get a drink and nobody batted an eyelid!!

Talk about the past. Also loved Summer Place and Troy Donaghue. I had my mum knit a red jumper for my then boyfriend now DH to look like Troy. Also loved Pat Boone's April Love

When we were kids in the 50's my parents had a radiogramme and a stack of 78's one of which was Move It by Cliff. 2 way family favourites - Jean, London calling - followed by Billy cotton band show. Progressed to a record player, South Pacific LP and Guy Mitchell LP were on constantly. To this day I know all the words! My music was the 60's. Most of the songs/bands mentioned here I loved. I feel I've just revisited my childhood/teen years, thank you!

My parents didn't play music a such but certainly listened to it on the BBC Light Programme.

I can remember the theme tunes to all of these and the exciting dramas such as "Journey...into...Space!"

I was - and still am - a great fan of Donovan, though never keen on Bob Dylan at all. Liked some of Dylan's songs, but always with other people singing them. Donovan is still performing and occasionally touring.

My mum's favourite was Pat Boone so she played his records a lot. My Dad was into Glenn Miller and when I became a fan of the Monkees we would argue over whose music was best. I hate to say that now I actually enjoy Glenn Miller myself and of course it brings back memories of my Dad.

olliebeak Did you see the programme recently about Donovan and his wife going back to India to the Ashraf (if that's the right word) where he went with the Beatles and the Maharishi? It was good. I think it was on Sky Arts but I'm not sure.

Since we are all different ages,our musical memories will be different, Summer Place was always played in cinemas I remember, so that’s what it reminds me of.
Dean Martin singing ‘Amore’ reminds me of a certain time and place, as does ‘Norwegian Wood’ by The Beatles.
I bought records in my town’s open market stall and the first record ever bought there was ‘Hoots Mon’ by a band called something like Lord Rockingham’s X11.
Magic Moments roots me in an an exact time and place too.

Oh yes Magic Moments. Another favourite of my mum's. Now I've got 'why am I so starry eyed? Starry eyed and mystified' as an ear worm after I mentioned Michael Holliday!

Sing something simple! My dad never missed it, I can still hear him singing along! Also, Catch a Falling Star, always reminds me of my dad, not sure why!

My sister used to play April Love by Pat Boone. I loved it. I thought that's how life would be when I was older.

My mum was a huge Al Martino fan. She played his records over and over so much that I knew every word to every song so when they had a party I was dragged out to sing along with Al Martino.
When we have a reminiscing night with YouTube I put on Al Martino. My OH sits there amazed that I can sing them all.
I'm the same with Billy Ekstien and Nat King Cole because as a child my Mum & Dad played music all the time.

We had an old music centre in the living room, which was for my dads records only, he loved Gracie Fields! I never bought or owned a record till I was about 20, when my boyfriend, now husband, bought me Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, by Elton John

Opera was my dads thing,Saturday mornings when he wasn't working overtime the records were on and turned up.the windows were all opened and he sang along to Verdi,or Puccini etc.The kind of opera my uncle disparaginly called "popular opera"Sundays were round the piano with Dad and Granny taking turns to play while we all sang along .Mum had music playing all day every day while she did her housework. I blame them for my huge collection of vinyl and cd's though I look back with great fondness to the music of my youth ........

@Jessity I love The Seekers too - my Dad used to sing Morningtown Ride to me and my brothers at bedtime and I remember watching them on Top of The Tops. There was a TV programme called Georgie Girl and they sang the theme tune. One of my sons likes The Seekers too (the other 3 like drum & bass, which is a bit different!)

My sister loved Pat Boone singing the theme from the film Friendly Persuasion 'Thee I love' she watched that film over and over, anyone remember it? Dorothy McGuire and Gary Cooper were Quakers during the American Civil war, a lovely old film. Sadly she's no longer with us but I watch it myself now and again and think of her.

Last year I was taken right back to the 60s.
My DD treated us to tickets for Gerry and the Pacemakers farewell concert.
The Theatre was a sellout (have never seen those words plastered over the posters ever in the 34 years we have lived here)
The whole auditorium was packed with people of 'a certain age'. I did think it would be really interesting if we could somehow see each other as we had been 50 years ago>
Gerry sounded just as he always did. Close your eyes and we were young again.
