Hello all, and good wishes.
I have been kitting out the new office with furniture from Ikea, a 6ft long desk top, and 2 cabinets to support it (all very reasonably priced).
As the desk top wouldn't fit in either car, I had it delivered, along with the cabinets. I surpised myself by putting them together single handed, well, apart from the bit where you have to adjust the hinges to make sure the door hangs straight
.
I will confess to having to say "Lefty Loosey, righty tighty" to myself when tightening screws
We decided that there were a couple of other bits that we needed, and as the delivery charges are quite high, I persuaded Mr P that a Sunday outing to Ikea would be in order.
Now, knowing how much Mr P dislikes meandering around large shops, I looked on the website to check stock availability (10/10 for being organised!) and discovered that you can also get information on where to find the items in the store.
I made a note of the locations, for example aisle 21, bay 3 on my shopping list (gold star and a big red tick!) and off we went, with me telling Mr P how we could go straight to the right location and save a lot of faffing about.
Only, it doesn't work like that, does it?
No it doesn't as those of you who are either:
A) Shaking your heads in disbelief at my naivety
B) Quietly smirking
C) Falling off your chairs laughing
will know!
You have to go into the display areas, and you are supposed to follow the arrows in a one-way direction. I will admit to making a completely unauthorised 3 point turn in kitchenwares to get back to the lift, nonconformist that I am!
Mr P is quite a placid chap, but I could see that he was getting a bit fed up, I tried distract him by suggesting we should have a little something in the cafe (which I'm told is good, and the prices seemed very reasonable), however he had reached that stage where only beer will do, and was not going to be swayed by an offer of meatballs, so we made our way in an orderly fashion to the correct locations, gathered the items, paid and left.
Guess who had to put together the Billy bookcase once we got home?
He did offer me the use of his drill, but I don't feel quite ready for power tools just yet!
Good Morning Friday 14th August 2026
Does there need to be a new by-election rule?
Has anyone tried making resin decorations for the garden? Hi everyone,
