What are you doing on Mothers Day?

Nothing special. My son lives in Oz and he sends me something on their Mother’s Day. I am not criticising here but would like to receive something on UK Mother’s Day, if I’m honest.

My grandson, aged 4, gave me a mother's day card from him and his sister. He drew a lovely picture of me, my head looking somewhat Medusa like, with thin streaks of something or other coming out of it, I was informed by him, not hair, not snakes, but rashers of bacon apparently to make me look more beautiful My son, their father gave me a spa voucher, gratefully received. I await hearing from number 2 son, he's usually pretty good at marking such events, but we were in Seville last week and I think maybe I forgot to tell him we were back this week-end. Later on we are all having Sunday roast dinner together.

My commiserations to you Robin, I'm very sorry you are having such a painful time and to any other grandmas in similar positions

My granddaughter has just phoned me from university to wish me Happy Mother's Day. What a lovely girl she is. We are off to DD's now. for all struggling today.

My elder granddaughter has sent me a text wishing me a Happy Mothering Sunday and said her mother ( my daughter) is wishing me the same from ‘where she is’ .

And my daughters husband has texted me to wish me the same.

I know my daughter would want this for me.

Granless I can emphasise. my son lives in NZ and the at moment is on work in Asia he messaged me Happy mother’s day adding it’s not mother’s day in NZ nor Asia I replied ‘thanks for your good wishes but it is in a Uk’ with a smiley face
My youngest daughter rang briefly she doesn’t do cards for anything
My eldest has invited me to a cooked lunch
I only ever get one out of three cards I would love to have three though

I have chosen not to celebrate Mothers Day this year with the big family gathering that we usually have. DSis died suddenly at the beginning of the month and the funeral was on Friday. I just didn't feel that I wanted to and I explained how I felt. However I did receive lovely cards and this morning when we came back from walking the dogs there was a big box delivered with flowers from them all. The message inside said they quite understood how I felt but couldn't let it pass unacknowledged. That did mean a lot to me.

I think I will do that in memory of my DM and DMIL.

My MiL died on Wednesday, so my Daughter gave me cards and present yesterday as she didn't want to upset her dad today.

Today we have had a quiet day with a trip the cemetery in the to lay flowers at my Mums grave and then a quiet meal together at home.

However I do have to smile when I look at my 3 grandsons cards.
My eldest grandson for the first time, proudly wrote his Mum's card all by himself.
And insisted that he would also write a card for me without his Mum's help.

So in my card it says......

When his mum said 'you have wrote lion'
My DGS I know but I couldn't remember how to write grandma.

Children are a great leveler

My eldest GD sent me a message saying Happy Mother's Day - thank you for bringing the best dad ever into the world I thought that was lovely.

Her dad and DIL sent a beautiful bouquet and card this morning but other son in NZ won't even know it's Mother's Day.

DS2, GF and DGD here with a plant, card and bar of chocolate, while they were here we skyped DS1 & family in USA and while we were 'all together' we we got the news that DS2 &GF are expecting baby no 2. What a special mothering Sunday present!!
