greyduster, that cake looks truly scrumptious what a nice surprise for your dd. Safe travels, hope the journeys there and back are safe and stress free.

kitty maybe a cold compress on your forehead will help? I’m not sure which is worse, when dds bombard me with blow by blow accounts of whatever’s going on or when they tell me very little but then expect me to just telepathically know what I need to do to help.- I have both sorts and sometimes to confuse me further it’s really not that hard all 4 of them switch roles. Budge up, is there room for me in that darkened room?

Baggs and others (sorry can’t remember who said what) it’s so hard to watch our children lose a friend at a really young age. One of my youngest dds best uni friends died from cancer at 22. I was so proud of how she and the others in their friendship group supported both the girl who was ill and one another. They faced raw suffering head on and didn’t turn away from it. I think it shaped every one of those young women and made them who they are today - kind, compassionate and very practical.

We’re off to dd1 later on today for an overnighter, there’s an 11th birthday to be celebrated tomorrow. That particular gd is now taller than I am and if she carries on growing at her present rate looks likely to be the tallest grandchild of them all. My old boy is still slumbering away, I daren’t get up or I’ll wake him and as we never sleep that well at dds he needs all the sleep he can get! Their spare bed is very comfy but oh so small, as it has to be to fit in the rather confined attic space. They are so hospitable and always keen to invite to join in various activities and do offer us their much bigger bed, However while we’re able to we prefer to ascend the heights to what back in the day would have been the maids room! There’s a decent ensuite and being tucked away from the hurly burly of family life does have some advantages!

Ann I am so sorry to hear how ill your DH now is. Please take any opportunity to rest and take care of yourself too.

The sizing sausages I referred to are similar to sizing beads used by jewellers to adjust sizing. Usually two small beads inside the ring but my local jeweller designed four tiny, evenly spaced sausage shaped, his terminology, same metal as my ring which now fits perfectly.

Sadly, I heard he had a fatal heart attack last week. He was such a lovely man and this news has shocked many in our area.

We'e got a male witterer kitty, ours prefers the phone and always manages to know when we're eating, its a talent . Can be wearing but somewhere (often buried deep) I'm pleased he knows we listen.

Wishing your son easier treatment days callgirl, I sometimes think we need to be well to be ill if you see what I mean.

corner I really feel your pain we have a twosome, who can be like that. My strategy is divide and rule and bagsie I get my grandson, Grandpa has much more patience with his sister than I do.

Upset tummy could be due to antibiotics.

Yet another new dawning and the world spins onwards.

Having read of your ongoing inner pain Ann there is so little comfort with words alone but please know you are surrounded by so much caring and love.

Whilst I am truly upset for you our Soop.You have been showing us such a brave face and carrying on almost as if life is merely another normal day,whilst many of us have pleaded with you to slow down a little.Now all these added problems will determine that you must rest more dear lady,it is imperitive that your poor somewhat battered body is allowed to heal from within.Please do not feel too upset about these "buggerations" and please believe this can often happen and it does have you wondering what on earth is happening.Time my friend,rest,more rest and of course taking all your medication plus nourishing foods aree the key to overcoming.
Of course you are not feeling the need for food so treat yourself to small but frequent snacks for now,it also helps with the medication having some food inside you.
We know you are an overcomer and of course very soon you will be back in top form............but now,for a wee while go gently and let us here take the strain........allowing us to pamper you!!!

Callgirl I can identify with your son. This cancer and its treatment is a real buggeration. It never goes to plan - I sometimes think they are acting on the hoof in the hospital. All we can do is hope they actually have a plan and know what they are doing. I have learnt with blood tests to have two when told to have one just in case and when in doubt have one anyway. Fortunately when I started all this business I was given lots of blood forms. I wish him well as he is going to be worn out with the radio and the travelling.

Good thought feeling but that would mean there was access to knives and they would need to be in the same room. [very large sigh emoticon. Still one could be tidying something blunt while the other is several rooms away.

Separation has worked for now but please, please will it stop raining. Fresh air and exercise is needed and I don't like getting wet. .

Its not all bad to be fair, have managed to sneak back in here and also do some admin while the peace lasted. Now I must find them something creative to do that doesn't involve glue, the last episode remains 'glued' in my mind .

Fortunately for RM it does not appear to be so and a friend has got it up and running. It would have taken me forever and it still would not be right. It all gets too much at my age.

We paid our pal in the care home a brief visit. It's possible that he may, before too long, be motored to our home in the care home transporter. He's a very large man. Needs a hoist to lift him from inside the van into our home. We've agreed that, providing it's a sunny day, as is today, we shall all have a tea party in the vehicle, parked in the drive, with open views through large windows looking across the sea.

I have every intention of returning later this after. I need to catch-up. We are to have a light lunch. After which...I shall lie on the bed and read/doze for an hour or more.

soop delighted to hear that you are taking it easy by resting more and cancelling the ironing for this week. Will that mean that you have two week's worth waiting for you next week? Hmmm.

corner I wish that I could send you some of our sunshine. I'm not allowed to sit out in it whilst taking the latest anti-bio's. Neither am I allowed a single for the next two weeks. After taking the meds, I must not lie down for at least half an hour. GP says so. I do as I'm told.

Early this afternoon I received an unexpected heartfelt email from my youngest son. The content is beautifully and honestly written. I have printed it and responded in like manner. I shall treasure it forever. Such a heart warming gesture that has more than made my day.

Log off time. No ironing duty to perform tomorrow. It will seem strange not to be dashing away with the smoothing iron. It will also afford me more time to spend with all of you.

Kitty all the 'wittering' sounds familiar. Our DD whenever she starts a project/plans a holiday or whatever is exactly the same. She's been like that since a toddler, we call it Chinese Water Torture. Her brother used to just look at her, then look at us with a quizzical expression that said ' is she really ours?'

Well I have a challenge for the kitchen ( may just be for panache). I came up with TOYA at a time when I couldn’t reply to everyone’s messages and it seems to have been adopted by many which is nice. Several people have mentioned wanting to put Wilcox or Willcox which struck a cord with me too. So panache I know you are a really clever wordsmith, can you (or maw, Baggs kitty, any of you who are clever with words) come up with a suitable suggestion for Wilcox or Willcox that we could use in the kitchen?
It would be nice to have a couple of acronyms of our own to use. After all, we already have our lovely buggerations and our recently added discomknockerated. So what else can we kitcheners come up with?

It is so hard even when we are not entirely taken by surprise by bad news - somehow you think it will never quite come to this.
