Well said ann. Hope you are feeling better.
Concerns re: my granddaughters weight
Well as first for me. Opening a new kitchen full of light, love and support
Well said ann. Hope you are feeling better.
Hi everyone, like others, I too have been hovering (but not havering) and reading and of course, TOYA.
Soop's Kitchen reminds me of a well-known song, so with apologies to Richard Harris and others, I offer the following:
A law was made a distant moon ago here
The Kitchen never ever will become too "hot"
And there's a legal limit to the "groans" here (not really!
)
I know it sounds a bit bizarre
But that's how conditions are ...
The rain may never fall till after sundown
By eight, the morning fog must disappear,
In short, there's simply not a more congenial spot
For happily blethering on amongst you lot than here in … Soop’s kitchen thread.
With love to everyone dealing with the terrors and buggerations of life. There's a lot of courage and fortitude on this thread
Here's the original, it always lifts my spirits

Anytime soon the men in white coats will be coming. I could not read the Sunday newspaper because my mother, dead 40 years was cleaning the house like a dervish. I think that was the result of 3 glasses of wine but unfortunately no potted meat or doughnuts. I slept so well but the house was in its usual state when I woke up.
Hi all, only pop in here now and then as The Argy takes up all my time (the staff are unreliable and the clientele are...
Well, unpredictable!)
Good health to all who are struggling with illness, and just to remind you that we have poteen on tap now, do haggisburgers for lunch and have our own Icelandic hunk(Thor) behind the bar, and he needs regular oiling.
lemongrove I have never oiled a hunk ......... yet - but did watch every moment of “Trapped”. - lovely Icelandic jumpers! Any particular kind of oil. ....... I am an innocent. .... that’s why I only listen at the door of the Argy Bargy. ?
lemongrove have you got running water installed there yet or does one still bring it in from the outside pump?
Cleanliness is next to Godliness and you know where you lot are!
I watched “Trapped” too! They all seemed a bit too, er, hairy for oiling
, but I got to quite like the sheer hairiness of it in the end!
Good to see that the sun is shining in the kitchen this morning!
Mamissimo - gorgeous gorgeous girl!
I will look in later.
lemongrove I meant to mention you may as well have the water metered- you lot use so little so will save a fortune.
Morning all,
I am so sorry to hear you feel so bad Ann and feel a totL fraud complaining about what is just a bad cold ?, forgive me? But I am such a wimp ?
Please do take care of yourself and give yourself time to get properly well. DH is in a safe place and needs you to get better x
No offence taken Shandi , my fault for taking umbrage over a mistake . I’ll blame my lack of sleep if you don’t mind but a conciliatory doughnut or three wouldn’t go amiss !!
I can handle most anything with a good nights sleep but I am struggling to get an hour here and there with a horrid cough that is keeping me up. Any hints or tips welcome!!
I’m afraid venturing into the Argy Barry would likely kill me in my weakened state but thoughting of oiling Thor the barman will no doubt keep me working towards getting better!
Happy days all ! X
Your first drink will be free!
Yes, we still bring in water from the outside pump, keeps the costs down, and as long as you boil it first it’s quite reasonable really.
When we first aquired Thor he had a beard you could lose a badger in and what looked liked a chest wig ( but wasn’t!)
After a close shave on the chin and two packs of Veet on the chest area....he was a new man.He has lovely wavy ash blond hair and is 6ft3. We love him to bits.Frequently.
Trev ( other barman) and Big Jim ( cellar man) are not nearly so attractive but make up for that with their stamina and enthusiasm. There’s many a good tune played on an old fiddle. Cheers!?
Dear me! lemongrove, this conversation is surely inappropriate for the delicate sensibilities of the kitcheners.
I only visited the Argy once- it was when soop was dancing on a table. I hurriedly exited and I will not be returning. I really cannot stoop to such depths- I am far too refained.
They’re the worst ( disreputable) types of all anno when they first enter the bar they clutch a small sherry and look around nervously, but within ten minutes are flinging off their buttoned up cardis, pole dancing, flirting and drinking
With the Admiral and his cronies. We once found Soop there under a table the next day!
Right, must go and organise the staff rota over there, but as usual, you are all welcome at any time.
I think I had better venture into the Argy as the thought of oiling Thor sounds appealing. Not sure I have the stamina though.
I may put my head around the door later - not sure about the sherry but a large glass of dry white wine would be a treat.
God, I remember stamina and enthusiasm........ (Big sigh emoticon).
Welcome Shandi and Megan if I may be so bold...sit yourselves down and us lot will hunt aboot the hoos for
. Someone must know where it's hidden.
Greyduster may I remind you that this is before the watershed of 9pm. Please banish those thoughts. I am shocked.
I have a shed load of enthusiasm but unfortunately, stamina has long gone.
I am leaving a selection of calorie free cakes which I found stashed away at the back of a very high cupboard Soop. Fresh coffee and tea on tap. Bon appétit ?☕️
baubles Thank you.
dear Ann I can sense your all-washed-outness. The medical staff will take the best possible care of your husband. In the meantime, it's you-time. Please give Molly a wee cuddle for me.
Bradfordlass Trapped nerves are the royalty of buggerations. There is no escape. Please keep taking whatever pain relief the GP prescribes.
Megan Ether is a bit bland. Don't go there. Us lot know best.
Ann Wise words.
kitty Is the Idiot still on the scene? Shame on him. Send him into space.
Morning All. To avoid cleaning my rl kitchen I’ve been baking (there is logic, honestly). I’ve left gf chocolate cake on the side and half a fruit cake, Mr C has stolen the other half.
.
Sadly now I have to clean
.
Kalu I know the feeling. Today I am also feeling "woolly-legged". Relax! As for hiding cake in on the top shelf...I'm a little over 5' and I'm able to keep my balance on a ladder. What are you going to do about it?
Charleyg Dreams are wierd and oftimes wonderful. My brain-box is stuffed with them.
Mamissimo That sunny
It makes me
with joy.
Ha! I see that lemongrove has been sampling the goodies in our kitchen. She's a lovely laydee but is often one to put temptation to those Kitcheners who have lived a respectable life. I met Thor (just the once) and we danced a fandango on the tabletop. Marydoll got all huffy and banished him to the cellar.
Greyduster Ditto. My days of stamina petered out a few short years ago. I still try my best. We had a walk this morning and by the time we returned to the car, I was well and truly bushed.
corner I knew that one of you lot would save the day.
dragonfly They do not serve decent drinks at the Argy Bargy. They cobble stuff together, ferment it (in the dungeon-like cellar) and sell it to the highest bidder as Poteen. It's lethal.
