Well as first for me. Opening a new kitchen full of light, love and support

Doodle Thu 04-Apr-19 19:12:26

soop makes us all welcome shandi and that includes you too. You have apologised for your mistake. No need to go into your hidey hole........unless of course you have a secret stash of cake hidden somewhere...... in which case I may join you ?

Greyduster Thu 04-Apr-19 19:15:26

I think we all need hot cocoa and a good night sleep! It will all look better in the morning, people.

NanaandGrampy Thu 04-Apr-19 19:16:51

I may not look better, my nose looks like Rudolph’s ?

Doodle Thu 04-Apr-19 19:21:50

Been at the gin again N&G ?

Sorry you’re feeling poorly N&G hope you feel better soon.

NanaandGrampy Thu 04-Apr-19 19:26:14

Cheeky devil Doodle lol

I wish ?

Thank you , I am a rubbish patient - all those who are proper poorly have my admiration .

annodomini Thu 04-Apr-19 19:27:00

Well said, shandi6570. I'm sure we must know you, but I don't recognise your name. Are you a 'changeling'?
Baggs, much sympathy for your mother. If my bruised ribs are sore (especially if I cough), how much more painful must her broken ribs be.

Isn’t it lovely that more than one person has likened being here in the kitchen to ‘having a family’ or ‘feeling at home’?

To change the subject/climate whatever, I thought I would send a report from my sickbed.
If N&G feels anything like I have these last few days then I feel for her and all is forgiven.
I took to my bed on Monday about 2pm and got up for the first time this morning.
I had a shower and washed my hair, got dressed and went downstairs.
I was back in bed by 11am.
I was so weak and my back and chest so painful.
I slept until about 1:30 and then once more went downstairs and lay on the sofa watching minduless tv.
I have been back in bed now for about an hour.
I am as helpless as a kitten, Molly excepted, she is full of beans.
I can't visit my H of course and things are not well with him.
My E and GD went yesterday, he just "looked through" them.
While they were there, staff came and put in another cannula and started him on another course of i/v antibiotics and rehydration.
The infection levels in his blood aren't going down.
They will repeat chest x-ray and keep doing bloods.
I hope to pop in tomorrow to speak to someone.
Not happy days at all.
TOYA

Oh ann you do sound poorly indeed. Don’t push yourself too hard you are obviously vey weak and forcing yourself to go out when you feel like this will not do you any good. Hope you have a good nights sleep tonight and feel better tomorrow.

NG* has never been sarcastic on posts in the kitchen and never on any other posts. I think she must have been misunderstood. We try to look after each other in the kitchen.

I cooked a beautiful beef casserole this evening- putting several sloshes of wine in it and of course I could not leave the wine bottle on its own! I have a feeling I will be joining Tara and having an early night after my annual shower.

N&G I do hope you get rid of the bugs soon- Mr.N&G has other things to do other than look after you- young Sam has to be cared for.

1inamillion Thu 04-Apr-19 20:34:35

Merched (girls) I enjoy reading all your posts and am full of admiration for your wittiness and good fun. They have been instrumental in keeping me sane over the last six weeks during my enforced incarceration (due to a foot op) I am also saddened by the many buggerations suffered by kitchen members.
TOYA
I don't have much to contribute atm - however a friend and fellow U3A book club member came for coffee this morning which was lovely.
N&G you need to feed a cold remember and don't forget the hot toddy.

We’re allegedly in charge of two grandchildren this evening, it seems they are in charge of us. We’ve been told exactly what they would like to do when we take our turn in the Easter break, suspect bankruptcy is on the horizon grin.

The decorating has progressed without incident today, quality control is happy, one more day should do it then we just (!) need to move all the furniture and ‘stuff’ back. May take a while.

You both sound proper poorly ann and n&g, hope tomorrow brings a better day. Thank you for the update Soop. Your journeys to medical appointments put me to shame, I worry about much more accessible locations.

Sleep well everyone and TOYA

Mamissimo Thu 04-Apr-19 21:28:49

I’ve made a bumper range of sleep inducing drinks tonight because everyone seems tired and a bit like my GD last night ? - too much cake and sugary treats!

I’ve left a load of singing whales playing on Alexa, the rugs are warm, the artificial candles are flickering, the cushions are plumped and my DH is ‘purring’ gently in the wing.

Sleep tight one and all. Tomorrow will be fresh and new.

? ?

Greyduster Thu 04-Apr-19 21:37:28

I hope the whales are not singing sad songs Mamissimo or we’ll all be blubbering?!

aggie Thu 04-Apr-19 21:45:59

Grey grin

Mamissimo Thu 04-Apr-19 22:04:53

grey ? - I meant that weird brain cancelling noise stuff that supposedly tips insomniacs into sleep. Is it tree music? Dolphins? I shall be up all night now trying to find out!

aggie Thu 04-Apr-19 22:17:52

Ann I hope you feel better soon flowers

BradfordLass72 Fri 05-Apr-19 00:17:52

Oh dear, so many of us not feeling well.
Thank goodness for warm beds and hot toddies, Chamomile tea - and it seems, potted meat and doughnuts. grin

My only problem at the moment (touch wood) is this wretched trapped nerve but thank heavens for strong pain relief.

I hope you all feel better VERY soon.

I hope everyone slept well after the cocoa, potted meat, doughnuts, wine and hot toddies. If not, antacids are on the side! It looks like a better day here today, so I may get into the garden. Hope all who are poorly are feeling better today thanks

Morning all, sorry about my outburst yesterday and especially to n&g who, as many of you pointed out, would never be so uncaring. No Anno I'm not a changeling, have been with GN about four years but rarely post and never before in Soop's kitchen. And hope she doesn't again can I hear some of you mutter.?

Wishing all kitcheners a happy day today and TOYA

megan123 Fri 05-Apr-19 08:00:13

Just to add (before I disappear into the ether) the reason I posted at all on this thread after reading the post, was because I felt hurt, not for me, but for the people who do put long posts up (which I love to read). That was my reason for even posting at all.

dragonfly46 Fri 05-Apr-19 08:10:33

I must say having —over— indulged in the cocoa, hot toddies, donuts and ? I am in need of those antacids, thank you nanny.

ann I do hope you do not try and do too much today. Unfortunately it is all catching up with you.

TOYA flowers

kittylester Fri 05-Apr-19 08:11:29

I, for one, would be sad to see anyone leave the kitchen or to stop posting.

No one, I believe, was saying that posts shouldn't be long just that they don't NEED to be.

I welcome.e that as some days it is quite daunting to read and reply especially if struggling with worries, health or otherwise.

As someone said, giving and taking according to need at the time is the best way and I am pleased that galen brought this up. Lots of people have issues at present (did i mention the Idiot!!!angry) but the kitchen is a great support.

soop had the brilliant idea and I am often really grateful for the support. I hope I give back occasionally.

TOYA!

Families fall out over trivia, sulk, behave badly and then kiss and makeup and the whole silly episode is forgotten.
We are a family and should do the same, not thow our toys out of the pram.
Those of us dealing with sad and difficult situations know nothing is worth falling out over.
