soop, it's good to have you back safely. You are having very good care and benefiting from some highly advanced diagnostics by the sound of it. Will be keeping fingers crossed for next week's appointment.
GrannyQ, we had many happy visits to Fountains Abbey when we visited relatives in Yorkshire when we were young. I remember a magical 'son et lumiere' evening there with the ruins floodlit and Gregorian chant. It was wonderfully atmospheric.
I was once sent self-administerd emena to prepare for a sygmoidoscopy. Needless to say, I failed miserably and the doctor said they could do it for me. I said 'goodbye'. A year or so later another hospital mercifully gave me the liquid to swallow before a colonoscopy. It certainly 'worked' and I was fine.

So glad to see that you`re home safe and sound again Soop. You seem to be getting the very best of treatments, richly deserved as well. I didn`t know that fish and chips were available at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, or we would have stopped there in the past. Are those miniature Kelpies new at Ardrishaig, I`ve never seen them before?

Synonymous, don`t feel mean, we all let our feelings get the better of us at times, you, as well as Mr S, are under an awful lot of strain lately.
I don`t think I`d be able to do my own enema, I`m too lily livered!
Mid morning today I went to the toilet. Whilst in there I heard a knock at the door and my granddaughter answered it. When I came out there was an enormous box with my name on it, it contained a beautiful basket of flowers and a small box of chocolates from Lynne for Mothers Day. She said "I`ve been tracking that delivery van all morning, the minute it said they were on the last visit before us you trot off to the toilet!" I didn`t know they were coming, did I? Tomorrow my other 2 daughters are taking me and the MIL of daughter 2 out to a local hotel for afternoon tea, looking forward to that.

As you say, modern treatment for breast cancer is so much more advanced, and hopeful. And other cancers.
And much better for everyone that it's no longer a taboo subject. Thanks to you and others.

What a lovely surprise callgirl, enjoy tomorrow’s tea, there’s something about afternoon tea that feels decadent.

I’m feeling very blessed. There was the most enjoyable afternoon and early evening, lots of laughter and so wonderful to see our often stressed son relaxed with his family. The sun shone, we went off to the beach with ice cream and a very excited Littlest before coming back for a hastily assembled tea. We loved it all, they had fun, what more could have been asked? I don’t think they understood how much it meant. They brought beautiful flowers, I will treasure them but not as much as the afternoon together.

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight. Look after yourselves.

Lucky people. My son died early in the year and my dd sent me a message yesterday to say she’d bought a card but forgot to post it. She was posting it today!

However, I’ll recover.
7day cruise to Norway in 6/52. Supposed to be going with next door, but she came round tonight to say she’d got chicken stuck when swallowing. Nothing I could do except tell her to make herself sick. If she couldn’t to go to hospital.
Hope this doesn’t mean her cancer is worsening, but I feel it probably is!

Wishing all you mums a loving family day this Mothering Sunday,and for those with just memories, a special kind thought from me.
Never having known my own mother, as you will realise it always is a bitter sweet reminder of all I have lost out on.

Whilst so pleased to have had my weekly Hospital appointments completed these past 2 weeks,and life seemingly moving on apace here and some normality setting in, I am sick as a parrot finding myself not only feeling exceedingly faint,but my lower troubled digestive system (the bowel to be explicit) is again giving my gyp,such pain,discomfort and embarrassment............and I am certainly not wishing for another Hospital stay this soon.
Whilst my dear man remains in dire pain himself and try as might, I feel so helpless.
So unable to sleep and thinking very much about you Soop and how you fared at the Hospital, here I am in the "wee hours" playing catch up.

So pleased with all you had to report and that obviously your Consultants have your Cancer and treatments well under control.I can well appreciate your extreme tiredness with these long journeys and there is nothing quite like your own bed to rest in after those visits!!

Glad to hear that garden of yours shaping up nicely is helping to shield the other big event in your life Syn,amazing how seeing a transformation helps dull the pain.Hope too you are feeling better within yourself,although totally understandable in the circumstances.
The Hospital protocol knows no bounds these days and it varies wherever you go...........although having faced many major operations I have never been asked to have that special bath or my own enema!!!Surely a few steps too far!

Sending love to all missing their mums today, those who have lost a child and also to those mums who may not recognise their child anymore.

Today is a poignant day for me, as it brings back very sad memories of my own mother, a very damaged lady, who found it difficult to show any love to her children. After scraping my meagre pocket money together one year , she threw the present I had bought, back at me. I have never forgotten it.
Sorry, this is a bit of a depressing post, but Mothering Sunday, always opens up these old wounds.
On the other hand, I have been blessed with three lovely children, whom I have made sure know they are loved and cherished.

I plan to chill today and potter in the garden. It will be takeaway for dinner tonight, there will be no big Sunday roast, I have given myself a day off from Marydoll's restaurant.
My DD is away just now, but an early morning phone call, has urged me not to go out. I suspect flowers are on their way.

Have a good day with your families, if you are planning to be with them today.
I shall go and give myself a shake, it's my turn to pick up the Sunday papers, Mothering Sunday or not!

I am not sure where you live but is DH available for some extra work? If too far for daily trips he can always share Tara's comfortable bed- she has her own memory foam mattress!

soop so pleased, although it was a long and tiring day, the pair of you arrived home safe and sound. Such a pity you have to travel so far for treatment- the only good thing is that we are facing spring/summer- it will be the daytrippers holding you up rather than the weather.

I must have forgotten to tell Tara the clocks went forward because she wanted me up at 5.30am.

On reading through all the latest posts I have smiled, felt tearful and much inbetween.

Marydoll Many people have experienced chaotic home lives as children, and I can think of nothing sadder. However, it's what you have managed to achieve with a loving family of your own that is a triumph.

Galen Two of my three sons always post a card well before the event. One son apologises every year for being late. It really doesn't matter. I've told him so countless times. I know that I am loved. That is more than enough for me.

Fennel and anno I remember family whispering the word cancer when I was a child. My own mother broke the mold. She was open and forthright and spirited during her three years of surgery and procedures. She was a youthful 62 when she died. Not once did I hear her say - why me. She was pragmatic to the end.

callgirl1 Yes. The fish and chips can be eaten in the deli. Two long tables and benches. Less expensive than the restaurant. But, boy, are they delicious.
We would have have passed the area of the accident near Luss about forty mins before it happened. Last time I hears, the lady who was airlifted to hospital was responding to treatment.

We don’t have big family get togethers for Mother’s Day, but I have been lucky enough to see both DC. DD decided we should have a sort of ‘Mother’s Day Eve’ and stayed last night with DGD. When DGD was tucked up in bed, we had a bottle of fizz, nibbles and sat down to watch a film. We both quite like Dan Brown books, and I thought I had recorded Inferno a while ago. Unfortunately I didn’t realise with Channel 5 you have to record the film in two halves. I was not very popular with DD and DH when they realised we hadn’t got the second half!

For those lucky enough to be spending Mother’s Day with their families, I hope you are having a lovely day. And I’m sending hugs to those who are sad, lonely, unwell or caring for their loved ones.

I've had phone calls, flowers and a gift; and my DiL (or is that Daughter'out' Law, now she and DS are separated?) sent me a lovely card too- we remain good friends. I'm too far away to see them this weekend but will make the journey at Easter when everyone will have more spare time - hopefully GSs won't have football and rugby fixtures then. It should be just like Christmas, but hopefully warmer.

This is a photo of my late Mother. She died (far too young) in spite of having both her breasts removed and countless procedures. She didn't complain. She carried on as best she could to within days of her death. When I was last with her, she was full of fun, although in her own words, a little weary, especially when cleaning the house. I learned a lot from my Mother.

The weather is glorious. MacSporran has cut the bottom lawn. He's cross with the mole that regularly spoils the appearance by leaving vast heaps of earth from one end to the other. Cannot kill the creature. Any useful tips?

I'm logging off. The Sunday paper is a treat that I specially enjoy at this time of the day.

Tara's hairy duvet cover has been washed and she has the brand new one on her bed- that will not go down very well.

I appreciate the simple things in life nowadays such as being able to hang out washing.

There is so much for me to watch on TV tonight I must get myself prepared.

It seems Soop that we too are blighted by these blessed little creatures that tend to make gardening a real chore and a nightmare for those keen on a pristine lawn.
We had a complete massacre of our small paddock whilst our backs were turned caring for our darling dying Barnaby.
Since then my man has managed to clear them after a gathering of a few dozen mole hills.
Just before his stroke luckily I advised him to get in the mole catchers as these moles had again decimated about half the area,quite costly these men, but after laying 12 traps and calling back a week later there were 3 dead moles.
Only last week these hefty lads now helping out in our garden areas removed the last 40 to 50 unsightly mole hills much to our joy.
However we now note our neighbour`s layby has been under attack and we are dreading another return of a new band of moles.
We have tried many various methods to halt their progress hoping not to have to exterminate them,but in the end they had almost taken over both a year or two ago and now this last year again.

I really feel for you as it is no joke clearing those hills they create and your McS is of a similar age to my man I presume and it really is too much to ask for clearing these mole hills repeatedly.
Call in the mole catchers I say................they leave the dead bodies in situ as this (hopefully) deters the next lot of would be in vaders!

Thinking of you all and ?to all.After a busy couple of days I have fallen behind on kitchen news again?
Soop and panache,we had a mole invasion many years ago and were advised by our neighbouring farmer to put children’s windmills on each of the molehills,the garden looked ridiculous,our daughters,young children then absolutely loved it,and the moles moved on never to be seen again.

Had a phone call from darling daughter and the dgc this pm. They’re coming for the day on the 12th April. I will have to clear all the breakable items out of the little male vandal’s reach before they come.
