What is your favourite free app? ??

Quidco in 1 year I have saved £153 by buying stuff via this app, and Oldies Radio, great choice of old music, 50s and 60s and much more.

On my Android tablet I have Grabbyword. It is a variation of Scrabble, but every time you make a word you steal all your opponents' letters from that word, and the score they got from them. You can play against the computer. Great fun, as you can steal lots of points from your opponent. It does flash adverts up during the game, but you can delete them. I love it.
Also Jigsaroid. It lets you make jigsaws from any pictures in your gallery or the internet. You can choose the number of pieces, and it lets you store pieces in 2 trays out of the way while you are solving.
And of course Spotify free, to listen to while I solve the jigsaws.

Copy me that. So good I bought the paid version. You can copy any recipe you spot and have them all in one place. Use it so much!

Soundhound - when you hear music and want to know what the name or the artist is, just point your phone towards the source of the sound and Soundhound will tell you. There are a number of similar apps (I think Shazam is the name of one).

You don’t need to download pocket glasses app....iPhone already has a magnifier that does the same -settings-general-accesssability-magnifier..just turn it on ..tap home button 3 times when u need it .

Be My Eyes. It’s a great idea of an app where a blind or poor sighted person can contact you via their video to ask for help with such things as lists of ingredients on tins or matching colours for clothes.

There are over a million volunteers but I don’t think you can have too many. I was contacted once but frustratingly missed the call. ?

Another vote here for the Kindle app - it means that wherever I am I can continue reading my current book even if I haven't got my Kindle with me.
And Shazam - I love that one for identifying music, it's a must for me.
Don't think I've seen Toilet Finder mentioned. Well worth having if you're anything like me and always need a loo when you're out and about! This will locate the nearest one for you, wherever you are.

I use WhatApp and bus time apps regularly. On Twitter, FB, also recently downloaded an App called Bubble (for checking level 8n DIY jobs.

If you want a fun app, an impossibly difficult game, but ever so slightly addictive, try GeoGuessr. It uses Google street maps to show you a random location anywhere in the world, and you have to try and guess/work out where it is. My guesses have mostly been wildly out, except for just one, which showed some ramshackle shops with Russian signage. Now Russia is a big place, but I managed to guess just 3km from its exact location ?.

Has to be Pinterest for me - I save anything I see and fancy for recipes, craft ideas, room looks, things to go with DC, knitting patterns....everything gets popped in there where I can find it again!

....and RBdigital where I get all the magazines free from my library - you register your library card and you can get all the expensive magazines to read free!

Google photos.
Google assistant allows you to improve or alter photos.

Animate or make a series of photos in to a movie with music.

Make a collage with photos of your choice.

Photos can be placed into albums.

I have hundreds of photos on my phone.
When I reach a point of too many photos for phone storage it automatically puts oldest photos into to cloud which can be easily retrieved at anytime.

Toilet Finder it tracks wherever you are and says where all the nearest public loos are ?

Just remembered another favourite - Strava. You can use it to record walks/ bike rides so that you can see the route later and see how far you have gone. I made a new years resolution to use it on every bike ride this year to track how many miles I do (378 so far).

I've only had a smart phone for a few months - my DD gave me her old i phone as the kids kept telling me I needed to get rid of my basic old Nokia. I use WhatsApp all the time for contact with family and lots of groups of friends. I thought I'd have problems with the touch screen but I'm coping better than I expected. I've only got the apps my DD put on for me so will have to experiment!

WhatsApp is a favourite of mine, as it keeps the family and close friends in touch with photos and holidays. There are a few more that I will download, thanks to your recommendations.

Pocket is superb isn’t it Brightphoebus? I’ve been using it for over 4 years now and it’s far and away my favourite!

DoraMarr - yes, NXWM, the West Midlands bus app! It has improved my life.

Signal, same functionality as Whatsapp, but more secure, as family insist on that.
Also use Whatsapp for girly chats.
Waze if not in my car, which has inbuilt satnav.
I like the Flashlight (torch) for finding keyholes in the dark.
DuckDuckGo for searching without being tracked.
BA, Easyjet, etc for flight tickets.
Classic FM for music
Currency Plus for instant conversions when shopping abroad.
I have downloaded the NHS app, but am in despair for any progress in my surgery to enable me to use it!

I love App Rome2rio It will give you directions to anywhere in the world from anywhere in the world Including flights trains buses Uber etc., Costs & timetables. So next time you want to get to Timbuktu just type it in !

Nope, no charge for Mr Number and I’ve been using it for over a year. I started getting calls from the Philippines, Nigeria, Seychelles, etc usually in the early hours. Fortunately I had settings which only allow special numbers eg close family, to ring me between 11.00pm-7.00am so I found these missed calls.

When I googled them they were red-flagged numbers. Installed Mr Number and it now filters out anyone not on my contact list.

PS love WhatsApp too. Can use Messenger to make free phone calls to a friend in US.

Thanks for starting this. Very useful apps. I've jst installed Pocket. Wish I could install whatsapp but I don't have a smart phone and it doesn't seem to work just on my ipad.
