Lonely: One Week On!

To any who were kind enough to answer my 'Lonely' post last Sunday and PM me with lovely messages and offers of friendship.
Well, I just thank you all....
I read them all through again, Sunday evening and thought, "Come on Bam, get your act together."
I'm writing this, not only to let you know about my week but I'm hoping it may inspire all the others who felt the same last week.
So, on Monday morning I went shopping for the most delicious, healthy food, no stodge, no cakes, no chocolate.
Tuesday morning, hairdressers, where she asked are you having the usual and I said no, I would like a choppy cut and blonde high and low lights.
Have absolutely "bottomed" my house, not in a frantic way but in a relaxed way with my favourite CD 's playing.
Bought myself a new skin serum and a lovely moisturizer and spent time in the shower every day and getting myself ready, with relaxing music playing in the bedroom.
Been to my classes and just got on with it, without worrying if anyone spoke to me, everyone did!
I'm in contact with a lovely GN by PM and we really 'get ' each other.
Contacted my oldest friend in Australia, who I normally ring every few months and when she happily asked how I was, said, "Great!..........Well actually, I've been feeling a bit sad and lonely the last few days," she told me, that she very often felt extremely lonely and this woman is so ' together' it's not true. So we've decided to FaceTime once a week and I've arranged to go over for about a month next year.
I'm going to join more 'things ' and do more things and I'm definately going to the next Meetup Curry Night and Quiz night!
As an aside, while I was in the hairdressers, one of the little juniors, who I was chatting with, said, "Oh, you're so funny Bam, everyone loves it when you come in!"
And you know what, I am funny, and kind, and caring and a nice person.
So I deserve to treat myself as kindly as I treat others.

Thank you GrannyMosh, I'm amazed that you have taken the time to reply, I'm pleased that you are just about out of the woods and hope that you will soon be on your feet again. thanks
And GreenGran, hope you will be fit enough for the Bolton Meetup, I may see you there.
I just want to say, I feel humbled by all your posts, I am mindful that some people who replied to my original post, emphasising with me, most of them with very good reasons to feel down and lonely. I'm aware that they might not be able to bounce back, with a new hair cut and some face cream, so I am thinking of them all and wishing them well.

I do admire you Bambam, I can be guilty of withdrawing from life when I’m feeling low. You’re an inspiration.

Bam your post should be printed and made into a poster.

So often when lonely people come on GN I find that however much one sympathises with them, they seem their own worst enemies as they turn down every suggestion of meeting people because they do not like it/have done it and walked out/and so on.

To hear from someone who picked themselves up by their bootstraps and did something is an absolute joy to hear.

I am sure you will still have lonely periods, but whenever you do, just read this thread, your original post and the wonderful effect it has on everyone that reads it - and it might be that another lonely person will as a result, do what you did and feel so much better.

What a truly lovely post, one of the nicest I've come across on GN. I'm sorry that I missed your earlier thread, but so pleased I've found this one. It looks as if you've brightened a lot of people's day, as well as your own! Your wonderful positive attitude is an inspiration to us all.

I don't live anywhere near you, but I'm so pleased to hear you may soon be meeting new friends at the GN Bolton meet-up smile

Grandmama Mon 04-Mar-19 18:56:51

It's lovely to read such positive feedback, so happy for you - you've really turned your life round - and you have a trip to Australia to look forward to. Your first post, the responses and today's post makes one realise how worthwhile and valuable Gransnet is. smile
