Lonely: One Week On!

To any who were kind enough to answer my 'Lonely' post last Sunday and PM me with lovely messages and offers of friendship.
Well, I just thank you all....
I read them all through again, Sunday evening and thought, "Come on Bam, get your act together."
I'm writing this, not only to let you know about my week but I'm hoping it may inspire all the others who felt the same last week.
So, on Monday morning I went shopping for the most delicious, healthy food, no stodge, no cakes, no chocolate.
Tuesday morning, hairdressers, where she asked are you having the usual and I said no, I would like a choppy cut and blonde high and low lights.
Have absolutely "bottomed" my house, not in a frantic way but in a relaxed way with my favourite CD 's playing.
Bought myself a new skin serum and a lovely moisturizer and spent time in the shower every day and getting myself ready, with relaxing music playing in the bedroom.
Been to my classes and just got on with it, without worrying if anyone spoke to me, everyone did!
I'm in contact with a lovely GN by PM and we really 'get ' each other.
Contacted my oldest friend in Australia, who I normally ring every few months and when she happily asked how I was, said, "Great!..........Well actually, I've been feeling a bit sad and lonely the last few days," she told me, that she very often felt extremely lonely and this woman is so ' together' it's not true. So we've decided to FaceTime once a week and I've arranged to go over for about a month next year.
I'm going to join more 'things ' and do more things and I'm definately going to the next Meetup Curry Night and Quiz night!
As an aside, while I was in the hairdressers, one of the little juniors, who I was chatting with, said, "Oh, you're so funny Bam, everyone loves it when you come in!"
And you know what, I am funny, and kind, and caring and a nice person.
So I deserve to treat myself as kindly as I treat others.

Felt like that last week as both my pals are on holiday. Cheered myself up by starting to learn German on Duolinga!

GabriellaG54 Mon 04-Mar-19 12:57:21

What a lovely turn-around.
I'm so glad that a little encouragement and kindness from GNers has prompted you to make these changes.
I'm sure that you look fabulous with your new hair style and beauty routine and happiness shows in our face when we take time for ourselves.
Well done for achieving so much in a short time, you really did take the bull by the horns and it worked.

What an inspirational post, Bambam - and just what I needed to read this morning!
We don't always see ourselves as others see us. I've been told I'm confident, 'together', positive, etc. However, I've not always felt like that lately. Am about to move house and it seems to have taken forever, but your post has made me see how capable I've been to have organised everything on my own. Once I've moved, I'm also going to have my hair cut and coloured for a confidence boost, and am going to join things and make new friends. Your post has inspired me to book a trip to a musical I've been wanting to see for ages and which is about to come to my area. Going to do that as soon as I've logged out of here! Thank you! All the best!

NannaB53 Mon 04-Mar-19 13:18:41

Well done Bam! A truly inspirational post.

Bekind Mon 04-Mar-19 13:43:17

What you are doing is SOO inspiring!!! I bet you are going to be helping many women!!!

GrannyMosh Mon 04-Mar-19 14:17:56

This post has made my day! I remember seeing the previous one and wishing there was something I could do to help, but have been in hospital since the end of January with sepsis and side-effects from chemotherapy, and didn't even have energy at the time to post something encouraging. Am just about out of the woods now, had an op this morning and been sleeping off the anaesthetic so am seeing this much later than I usually would, but I am absolutely thrilled and delighted for you, Bambam! I'd call that an object lesson in how to grab life and not only run with it, but do a full Olympic gold-medal-winning sprint. I hope it turns into a marathon and that you will share your adventures along the way! xx

Noreen3 Mon 04-Mar-19 14:32:52

Well done,Bambam,it shows what can be done.I feel inspired,if I can achieve just part of what you've done I'll be happy.

GreenGran78 Mon 04-Mar-19 14:34:24

It's amazing how a bit of positive thinking can pay off. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of a push from friends to get you going again. Well done BamBam.
I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself too, due to arthritis pain and a bad chest infection. However I feel a bit better today, and have had a steroid injection which may help, so I am going to 'get a grip' too. I live near Wigan, so am determined to get to the Bolton meet-up, if I possibly can. I've never been to one, so a bit apprehensive.
GrannyMosh You sound as though you have been having a really rough time. It certainly puts my minor problems in perspective. Take good care of yourself flowers

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 04-Mar-19 14:36:28

Good for you Bambam, you know it's not what happens to you that makes the difference, it's how you react to it, as they say. Keeping busy helps, doesn't it?
