Panache Once again, what more can I say to convey my sadness that you are both continuing to suffer. Life is so unfair. The good folk of this world should be free from pain. That's wishful thinking. We all have to make the absolute best of what we've been given.

Us lot will continue to help each other. We shall also continue to celebrate life's many blessings. Family being top of the list. Especially the "wee ones" that love to bits.

In due course, we'll have a knees-up. So, in the meantime, relax, recouperate and rejoice that this too will pass...eventually.

Well, Wales have triumphed and the favoured football team have also triumphed so DH is a happy bunny, so with any luck, he will not hit the ceiling when he finds out how much I have spent this afternoon replenishing my fly boxes for the coming fishing season! (I tend to leave a lot in trees!). I normally tie my own but neither my eyes nor my fingers work well enough now to enable me to tie the smaller sizes. Oh but it is like being let loose in a sweetie shop! Common sense goes out of the window when face to face with a bit of fur or feather that you are assured is this season’s must-have killer fly that trout cannot resist! Or you think “Ooh they’re really pretty; I must have some of those!” (Gurl ?!) and they never come out of your box because you don’t want to get them wet!?‍♀️ Of course, fishing is only as good as the idiot on the other end of the rod........!

Dear Corner if morphine patches addle the brain then I am in DEEP trouble as I have had them for yonks..........not proud of the fact but if they help the pain then I say go for it big time.
Pain is so debilitating and will addle your brain far more quickly.
Hate to hear you are struggling.

Seems to be a gathering clan so perhaps Soop.......if I maybe so bold ........perhaps a rest room with recliners for the occasional sleep or true relaxation for sufferers here might also be worthy considering alongside your other ideas?????

However having been told this repeatedly during my radiotherapy treatment, I came home each weekend and made sure I walked the entire length of our 2 beaches both ways............I believe it did me far more good than the treatment itself!!!!!
We know our own bodies after all.

So sorry about your painful arm, Corner. I sympathise wholeheartedly. My shoulder was initially mis-diagnosed when a keyhole op would have sufficed and later, I had to have a much bigger procedure. Good luck with the physio and if a morphine patch would work, why not give it a shot?
Panache, your resilience astonishes me. You must be having a hard time coping with your own and MrP's problems but you are still able to keep in touch and keep our spirits up.

Not liking this storm Hannah ! We drove to north Cornwall today for our annual gastronomic treat week and the wind was trying to push the car sideways as we came over Bodmin Moor. Hope everyone else got where they were going ok! I really felt for the Soops as they had such a long drive yesterday.

The rugby is splendid today......*Anno*! Did you see that! What did Scotland put in their porridge this morning? Maybe Panache should feed it to Mr P!

I’ll send some of Mr Barnicutt’s stupendous pasties on Monday when they open.....they will be delivered frozen and unbaked so clear out the kitchen freezer and fill your boots with these next week?

I am used to the pain, well discomfort sits better with me, usually manage it but just sometimes it overwhelms me. Doctors are trained to fix things and seem to get very hurt if they can’t so everytime I see a clinician I am offered more drugs. There are so many drugs I can’t take because they just wipe me out, zombies have nothing on me., hence the concern about patches. .

The next time I need to go to the surgery I will talk with the GP about the patches. The suggestion came from a pain consultant, GP said she wasn’t sure back then. I’ll get her opinion and then get on with it if she says it’s ok.

corner- I am confused- yes I know that is easily done! I do not know who has offered you morphine patches because there is no such thing. There are other drugs such as fentanyl which come as patches.

The main problem with long term very strong analgesia is constipation and I doubt if fruit would be sufficient- you may have to take long term laxatives.

At least the sun is shining here and the high winds have vanished.

There was zilch for me on TV last night- I was in bed after 9pm to read, slept like a baby and woke at 8.30am after my usual trips to the loo.

soop I hope that you and MacSporran are now less tired and are enjoying your rest at home.

Oh blimey, that’s the wording the consultant used. Perhaps he thought I wouldn’t understand the ‘proper’ name charley. . Or maybe he was confused . Next time I need a GP appointment I’ll get her to check and see what she thinks. I’m blessed with a sensible GP who understands my resistance to strong meds and is also aware of shall we say the slowness of my digestive system. .

We’ve got some sunshine here today. Plan very little as energy in short supply, good enough look out and see the spring flowers in the sun.

Corner, I have been using Fentanyl patches for about 8 years, with no side effects at all. It doesn't get rid of the pain, just takes the edge off it.
I had been through just about every painkiller known and found no relief.
The only problem was when they tried to increase the Fentanyl dose, I lasted one day! I felt rather woozy and very "mellow", so went back to my initial low dose, other wise I couldn't have continued working.
I hope you get some relief, chronic pain is so debilitating. I take it you have tried a TENS machine, I find that helps too.

My DD gets some relief from lidocaine patches.
This actually an anaesthetic and, in addition, every few weeks is administered as an infusion when she attends an outpatient clinic.
Don't think it's morphine-based but will find out.

I tried Lidocaine patches on my hands and for the first few days, they worked really well, then I started to have a reaction to them, so no use for me.
We all react in different ways, that's why it is advisable, if possible to be referred to a pain clinic.
Corner, you sound quite low, I hope things improve for you soon.

Its a sunshine with raindrops day here as storm Hannah battered us last night. Apart from doing some laundry and I am doing nothing else...Grampy is cooking roast pork as his crackling is the best so I shall bid you all adieu till later !!

What a blessing seeing Hannah......having morphed from Storm Gareth is far more gentle and in fact has brought us the brightest sun filled day.
There is still a quiet roaring of the wind in the background.
How long it lasts maybe the big question,however for now lets enjoy and indeed those spring flowers are truly enjoying it too!

Corner As a long time user of Morphine for pain relief....the time release variety.....yes I agree that constipation is a problem and I too have a very troubled digestive system.
However by very careful management I have certainly coped, and quite frankly would buckle without it.
Almost every drug on the market has a long list of associated problems,it is simply a case of working through them all and finding what best works for the individual.
Taking any medication has a host of issues.............and very often various ones are not compatible, so it really is a minefield.
One has to step through very warily.
In the early days I was started on a low doseage which was increased quite rapidly,I then lowered the dose to what I thought better overall over a period of time,fearing the constipation and of course addiction...........and am coping

Did I hear you mention Cornish Pasties Mamissimo...........you have really tantalised my savoury taste buds, and yes I am heartily fed up of just these drinks ............so surely I am due just the one?

You are due a lie in Soop just as is your man............simply lie back and relax in your haven.
