to continue where we left off......

trisher Sat 23-Feb-19 16:19:18

There are lots of people I would prefer not to have in the UK, fortunately the law does not rule on either who anyone wants or doesn't want.

Chewbacca Sat 23-Feb-19 16:26:14

Maybe not in this case trisher. We'll have to wait and see won't we? But with more than 500,000 people having signed a petition to keep her, and her ilk, out of the country, it might be a while before any decision is taken. And the British government have already made it perfectly clear that, whatever happens, they won't be putting anyone at risk of going out there to help her out any time soon. Perhaps a couple more years in the camp will help her to realise the enormity of what she's done and see the error of her ways.

EllanVannin Sat 23-Feb-19 16:27:05

Their own know them best Chewbacca. They must fear for their children as SB will act as a source of influence, of that there'll be no doubt-------she's not to be trusted.

Jalima1108 Sat 23-Feb-19 16:32:40

How would SB obtain a British Passport in Syria ?
With great difficulty EV
She is not in a war zone now, she is safe in a refugee camp like thousands of other displaced people.

Lily65 Sat 23-Feb-19 17:04:18

Their own know them best Chewbacca and that means what ?

Would that be their own in Rotherham?

EllanVannin Sat 23-Feb-19 17:28:14

If you so wish, Lily-----your words, not mine !

Lazigirl Sat 23-Feb-19 18:23:35

If I was a British citizen but a child of immigrant parents, I think I'd be feeling a little bit insecure after the Home Secretary's decision to remove this girl's UK status. I know a few who have claimed an Irish passport in addition to their UK one, who have not even been there, so look out!

Lily65 Sat 23-Feb-19 18:32:27

They most certainly are not my words, you have continually referred to them/their/they and for some reason referred to historical abuse in Rotherham.

Who are " their own"?

PECS Sat 23-Feb-19 18:48:14

Anja as you say you have no actual facts about Letts.. so how do you know he is a blagger?? confused

Too many people making up their own narratives & interpretations, condemning people without evidence just hearsay and circumstantial evidence yet to be proven and a huge dollop of prejudice!

Britain was once respected, internationally, for its legal process!

It's like a kangaroo court on here!

M0nica Sat 23-Feb-19 19:14:47

Anja, Jack Letts is 24 now. He was about 17 when he converted to Islam and was 19 when he went to Syria. He did not go to the middle east to join ISIS.

Read his Wikipedia entry en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Letts it confirms essentially what I said in my post above

He is a 'Useful Idiot' and comes over as a not very clever young man, who wants to strike attitudes and attract attention, by doing all the things people tell him not to do. If someone said to him 'Do not jump off a high cliff' He would go straight out and do it, without considering the potential risks.

In other words, he is a world class tw*t.

Anja Sun 24-Feb-19 08:10:30

Come on PECS ‘I miss my mum, and pasties and (pause and look at camera for effect) Dr Who’!

I’ve worked with young people all my life and can spot a blagger easily.

Monica that is an opinion in italics not factual.

Those who watched the interview will be in no doubt that this is a young man who can express himself well in contrast to that dull young woman who is getting all the hatred thrown at her.

My point stands.

Anja Sun 24-Feb-19 08:17:58

Incidentally as far as missing his mother it was reported in 2016 that Letts said in an online statement that he "hated" his parents "for the sake of Allaah [sic]" because they are non-believers, and called on them to convert. He added: "They reject the religion of truth, so I reject them. I hate the Kuffaar [sic] [non-believers], and am free from them. Die in your rage.".

That is from the Wikipedia link.

It would seem this young man either doesn’t know the meaning of truth or simply says what is expedient at the time.

PECS Sun 24-Feb-19 08:28:00

Anja.. you ever made a mistake? Ever said something stupid that you regret?

OK this is epic proportions but if you know young people well you also know they can behave foolishly, impulsively and with false bravado. He was a druggie & made a catastrophic and stupid decision. He needs to face the consequences. But a blagger..no he has woken up and found himself standing in shit.

There may be many parents saying there but for the Grace of God...

Anja Sun 24-Feb-19 08:46:30

And indeed I’m saying that applies equally to ‘ISIS girl’ PECS

I’ve never said Jack Letts shouldn’t be allowed back. My point is why should he get different treatment from the British Government than she?

Anja Sun 24-Feb-19 08:46:58

All you say can equally apply to her.

Anja Sun 24-Feb-19 08:47:32

Both very stupid young people.

Urmstongran Sun 24-Feb-19 09:03:04

SB ‘s father, aged 60y lives in Bangladesh with a second wife and family. He says he saw Shamima 2 months before she fled to Syria. He saw nothing different about her. She didn’t pray overly much and he said she wasn’t particularly interested in Islam. He says he agrees with the Home Secretary to revoke her U.K. citizenship as he himself agrees she shows no remorse.

Gonegirl Sun 24-Feb-19 09:18:47

Someone on the Sunday programme on Radio 4 this morning said her remarks would most likely be due to Post Stress Disorder Syndrome.

Oldwoman70 Sun 24-Feb-19 09:46:12

How can someone who has never met her diagnose her as having PSDS? I thought someone thought to be suffering this had to undergo physical and psychological examination before a diagnosis could be made.

Chewbacca Sun 24-Feb-19 10:00:06

So what Gonegirl? The bereaved victims, parents and relatives of every IS terrorist attack ever carried out is "suffering from PTSD" and theyre having to learn how to live with it. Why should an enabler of those attacks be given any support to live with theirs?

Now that her father has piped up from Bangladesh, she can no longer claim to have no links to that country can she?

Gonegirl Sun 24-Feb-19 10:10:04

So what? Oh, sorry. I didn't realise this was all about taking revenge on her for the atrocities committed by other vile creatures.

Mycatisahacker Sun 24-Feb-19 10:18:52

I don’t think she should be treated any more or any less harshly than the fighters themselves. They as a cohesive mutually supporting unit. A caliphate, caused mass death rape torture and misery to millions.

For that collective crime they as adults should all pay the price.

In my view the wives of the Nazis who lived in and controlled the death camps should have been out on trial too.

It’s a kind of mysogynistic paternalism that defends women who commit crimes and then cite reasons of grooming, ignorance, naivety, immaturity etc.

When you do that you deny women agency for their actions. It’s wromg it really is.

By the way my dd has PTSD and I don’t recognise any of her symptoms in this woman or in Jack.

All I see there is a complete lack of inside into their own conduct, lack of remorse or empathy and both putting their own needs first

Psychopaths perhaps.

EllanVannin Sun 24-Feb-19 10:26:13

PTSD ? Rubbish ! My family suffered flashbacks at the sight that greeted them as they stepped over bodies in the foyer to escape into the Manchester night. That's PTSD !!

trisher Sun 24-Feb-19 10:29:51

Chewbacca if I was to post a petition asking for the reinstatement of public executon I would probably get 500,000 signatures easily, it wouldn't make it right or acceptable.
There's a hell of a lot of diagnosing on this thread Oldwoman70 by unqualified and biased individuals so I don't see why an expert shouldn't have their say.
Mycatisahacker no one is saying she shouldn't be equally as responsible as men, but that she should be treated equally. Over 400 male jihadi fighters have now returned to this country. She has been deprived of her citizenship, left in a refugee camp and abandoned. It is sexist, racist and discriminatory. If you can find another man who has been treated in a similar way please say.

Gonegirl Sun 24-Feb-19 10:30:07

You see, this is why it needs to be judged coolly and calmly by someone well versed in these things. Too much emotion otherewise.
