Losing it over losing things!

I have been decluttering, yet again.
Trying to hold back a tidal wave of 'stuff'.
I decided to put all the coats that no longer fit on eBay.
Now I can't find a coat that has been up for sale for the last week!
I'm so frustrated with myself..
Where can it be?!
The auction finishes in less than 24 hours and I could murder myself because I just cannot find it.

Do you lose things?

It is a shame to hear about the missing coat, probably in that safe place we've all got - but at least you've cheered a few readers up reading these posts and knowing that there are other people who do the same things as ourselves

Miss Adventure you made me laugh
I usually find lost things in the dryer

I once moved house and packed up a box containing my collection of cat ornaments. Unpacked them and a pair of cats were missing.

2 years later moved again. Once again putting all the cat ornaments in one box. On unpacking found the missing pair snuggled together at the bottom of the box.

Only I packed and unpacked and used different boxes for the moves.

Ok so I haven't tried this myself so cannot say if it works or not. Stick a pin in the back of your couch.Apparently your pinning the lost article down.?
Hope this makes you feel better. 1) I was trying to set my morning alarm with the tele remote control! 2) Out my phone handset in my bag and took a while to work out where all my apps had gone.??

Lost my yoga belt ten minutes before my yoga class. Knew that it was in the kitchen somewhere. Gave up and went to yoga without it. Taking my jacket off, I found it round my neck under the jacket!!

That is reassuring. I am not alone.

I bought a new mini jewellery box for travelling. I kept it in my u derwear drawer but a few weeks ago I decided it was in the way. So I moved it and put it ‘somewhere’. I’m in the process of packing for a trip and simply can’t find the jewellery box. It’s in a very safe place!

MissAdventure
Normally, if you sent the wrong item to a buyer on eBay, they would, most certainly, contact you.
Did you parcel up the coat ready to post and then put the parcel aside until the auction ended? In that case you would be looking for a package, not a coat.

MissAdventure Sat 16-Feb-19 22:56:13

Hmmm..
I've thought of that, but no sign of a package anywhere.
The coat I sold and actually sent is plain black, suitable for school, and the one I've lost has a big furry collar and fluorescent orange writing on the lining, so they certainly would know it wasn't what they bought.
Still no sign of it though.

My cousin gave me a lovely purple roller blind for my bathroom. Brand new with fittings packed in the top.
I took the fittings out after I opened the blind to measure as it would trimming.
I popped the fittings into one of a number of red matching pots in the kitchen.
A little while later I went to find the fittings but not in any of the red pots!
Been through kitchen drawers and cupboards, other pots and containers but nowhere.
That was early last year and I’ve still got the blind because the day I throw it away will be the day I find the fittings ?

How annoying!
Where the hell do these things go?
Its as if we must black out for a few minutes and throw them away, then wake up not knowing anything is amiss.

I'm always losing things too. I was looking for my glasses and then realised I had them on.

MissAdventure Sun 17-Feb-19 11:45:51

I've put a pair on over the pair I was already wearing before, and thought I was having a stroke..
Double vision, all disorientated.

I did a similar thing MissA I left work one dark, winter evening, jumped in the car, put on my driving glasses and set off. I drove a short way but I knew something was wrong. My headlights weren't working properly. I pulled in and jumped out to look at them. They were on but rather dim. Weird! I got back into the car, removed my sunglasses and, suddenly, the lights came up to the proper brightness...

I found my best reading glasses, by the way. I searched everywhere for glasses. I turfed everything out of my bag. Next day, after phoning all the places I'd visited, I decided to search the house again. There, in the bag I'd already searched, was my glasses case. Needless to say, the glasses were inside.

annodomini Sun 17-Feb-19 23:01:46

I have loads of redundant glasses cases but not one of them contains my missing prescription sunglasses. I think I have searched everywhere. And I wonder where two pairs of toaster tongs have gone. hmm

I mislaid one of my GTN sprays recently. I know I had it when we went out for an evening, safely in a little purse in my handbag.
Changed bags, looked for spray, nowhere to be found.
Rifled through all my bags, still nothing.
Did it again, nada.
So, ordered another from the Dr.
Collected spray from pharmacy, went to put it in my bag, and lo and behold, there, in a hidden pocket, was the 'lost' one.

Grammaretto Mon 18-Feb-19 10:53:31

I've bought myself a new handbag. This time it's quite small as all that rummaging is making me feel as well as look like a scatty old woman.

I've been decluttering btw. After all this talk of missing things. Several long forgotten things turned up.

Your passport story reminded me of the good old days, pre 9.11, pre child abduction scares, when reaching the Channel, about to board a ferry, DS has left his passport at the last campsite 100s of miles away.
That's OK. he looks like the others, they said, so just take him.
