Losing it over losing things!

I have been decluttering, yet again.
Trying to hold back a tidal wave of 'stuff'.
I decided to put all the coats that no longer fit on eBay.
Now I can't find a coat that has been up for sale for the last week!
I'm so frustrated with myself..
Where can it be?!
The auction finishes in less than 24 hours and I could murder myself because I just cannot find it.

Do you lose things?

BradfordLass72 Thu 14-Feb-19 04:27:27

MissAdventure Have you tried looking in you 'History' on the computer or Ebay itself?

Grammaretto Thu 14-Feb-19 05:50:36

It will be the Borrowers.

JackyB Thu 14-Feb-19 06:31:10

I have a coat which one day I intend to sell on ebay when I've learned how to do it. To protect it in the meantime I bought a packet of dust covers. Perhaps you have covered it in something and are looking for the wrong colour?

RosieLeah Thu 14-Feb-19 06:46:36

I know there is a gadget which helps you find lost keys. I wish there was one for glasses..(spectacles). I keep taking mine off to do close work, then I'm hunting for them when I want to watch tv.

Tearing my hair out trying to remember where I hid the very small Valentine gift I bought for Him Indoors...

JoyBloggs Thu 14-Feb-19 08:20:55

MissA Could the missing coat be on a hanger under one of the other coats?

Auntieflo Thu 14-Feb-19 08:44:20

RosieLeah, you’ll just have to give in and get one of those chains that hang round your neck, and fix your specs on that
(I can talk). I’ve got one, but it’s kept, in my specs case!! ?

MissAdventure Thu 14-Feb-19 08:51:27

Still not found it.
I've taken it off eBay, but perhaps now it will show itself.
I can't stop thinking about it!

Maggiemaybe Thu 14-Feb-19 08:59:28

perhaps now it will show itself.

Oh, it will, MissA, it will. Just like a friend’s car key did half an hour after she’d arrived home with the new one she paid £300 for (in a drawer she’d raked through several times, btw).

Urmstongran Thu 14-Feb-19 09:22:18

I’m assuming MiniMoon that your husband didn’t pass you the keys to the summer house 14 years ago❗️
I have visions of you both just looking at it wondering where those flipping keys are ..... ??

Now you’ve taken the coat off EBay MissA it’ll turn up! Sod’s law.

MissAdventure Thu 14-Feb-19 09:24:41

I'm wondering now if I posted the wrong coat to someone?
Its silly, I know, but its really unsettled me.
Daft cow I am!

pensionpat Thu 14-Feb-19 09:26:38

Miss A. Concentrate you efforts at the place you remembered putting it. The bed. Underneath, at the back, mixed up with your bedding? Have you been over warm at night?

Grammaretto Thu 14-Feb-19 09:40:06

grin you didn't say you had already posted one off! With any luck the recipient won't notice the difference.
If I were you I would try to forget all about it now. Then it'll turn up when you're not looking. Maybe it's joined that sewing box, summer house keys, Valentine gift and my overdue library book and some important family papers
And they're having a good laugh together

MissAdventure Thu 14-Feb-19 09:51:45

That sowing box is a real mystery..
Yes, I'm putting it out of my mind now.
If it turns up, I'll let you know where it was.

You could ask St Anthony

Dear St Anthony, full of grace
Lead me to its hiding place

He is usually very helpful.

I am also in big de cluttering mode at the moment. My guess would be that it got taken to a charity shop by mistake when taking other stuff?

I always take off my earrings and put them on my bedside table. They were not there one morning and I spent ages looking on the carpet and right under the bed,not there. Then last night I was putting my watch on there and there were the earrings!

GrandmasueUK Fri 15-Feb-19 10:53:16

Because I was always losing things I bought a card with a prayer to St Anthony on it. I was telling my mum and aunt about it but couldn't find it in my bag. I retraced my steps and I'd left it on the counter of the shop. The saleslady was laughing so much when I returned!

Maybe fallen off a hanger in bottom of wardrobe? In husbands wardrobe? I find things there that are similar colour to husbands.

annep1 Fri 15-Feb-19 10:56:00

In car boot?
I found ebay too much hassle. Hence good things to charity shop.

I think that everyone has a mischievous elf living in their house! I have twice bought new prescription sunglasses for visiting the family in Australia. Both times they disappeared en route. I am certain that I packed them, but they have never been seen again, either here or in Oz.

The only other thing that ever disappeared was a Terry Pratchett book called Pyramids. I bought it as a gift, and put it in my wardrobe until it was needed, and it vanished! I had to buy another copy, and the original has never surfaced, in many years.

I blame the elf! I hope he relents and returns your coat!

I needed to nip to the shops; it was cold and I couldn't find my gloves. Shrugging, I slipped on my hat and as I got to the shop, saw my reflection in the window. Unconsciously registering the thought how strangely high my hat sat on my head, I bought the spuds and when I took off my hat back at home, out fell my gloves....

I lose things all the time except keys which I keep in the same place. I put my house key in my LH pocket as I've left the house and the car key in my RH pocket as I have the right to drive, purse in centre bottom of handbag BUT other things - forget it. I drive myself insane looking for paperwork which I loathe. I need to file things and did this at work but have never really got to grips with it at home.

I was on a cruise once and put my wedding on a small shelf in the cabin. Next day when we about to dock and take a walk around an island I could not find my ring. My husband had only died a few months before and I was distraught, looked and looked and felt all around the shelf, and finally in tears went to the group leader. She felt the small shelf and immediately and triumphantly found my ring!!!
