I love trip advisor reviews but always, once I’ve narrowed down where to go, I do cross-check not only the other reviews of the hotel (or whatever) but also the other reviews of the reviewer which means that I get an idea of the person writing the review.
Sometimes you find glowing reviews but they are written by people who (from other reviews) you soon notice love things you hate “lots of other brits to chat to” “great evening party scene” “next to a great bar” etc.
Then you find some other reviews saying “stuck in isolated farmhouse” “no one spoke English” “no children’s club” - and clearly this is helpful too.
Given this, I do usually review hotels and villas etc as they are a massive spend and we all, whatever our likes and dislikes, want to stay somewhere that’s right for us.
We have found one total gem through trip advisor however which I have stayed at several times and don’t review - rather selfish I know, but just too perfect to share... ?

As a small online business owner, I really do rely on reviews to help me to get sales. I cannot afford to compete with the advertising budgets of the "big boys".
So please if you have received prompt service from a small company do please help them and leave a positive review.

I get requests from M&S and Woolovers to review products I've purchased but feel under no obligation to comply with these requests. And I don't. They'll soon find out if I am dissatisfied with their products!

I was feeing very poorly and called 111 for advice. I was advised to go to A&E. After the usual questions and tests, I was put in a room on a saline drip while doctors decided what needed to be done next. While I waited, a man came in with a survey about my hospital experience. I said I would do it later after my experience was complete. Ten minutes later he was back. I told him I was still mid-experience. He went away never to return.

My two pet hates in this s area are for flowers I’ve sent to someone - how do I know what they looked like? - and plant/bulb suppliers - you’ll have to wait till the items have been planted & grown before I can give you an opinion!

I just wonder how many reviews Miss A read in order to find that one, or was she buying some Veet hence being on the site?
I read book reviews but my absolute bugbear is being asked for feedback in the preamble we have to listen to including data protection c* and 'your call is being recorded for training and quality purposes'.
I hope they do record what I am saying (over their robotic voice) as I am very honest and outspoken about the waste of my time.???
Thames Water wasted so much time that I added it up and sent them a faux bill detailing the amount of c* I had to listen to regarding an ongoing complaint and them texting for feedback on 'How did we do?' on a scale of 1-5.
2 weeks later I received a letter showing a £30 credit on my account as compensation.
It didn't do much to mollify me. I HATE every darn company asking for feedback.

Has anyone ever received a cash reward for filling in a review about their experience in a supermarket? I just wondered if it’s worth giving it a go?

Your surgery needs those positive reviews. Folk are very quick to give negative feedback but don’t often take the time to praise. NHS staff are struggling with limited resources and trying to deliver the best possible service. We all have regular appraisals at which we have to show patient feedback so it is not a waste of time.

I like the review I am meant to make on my golden charter funeral plan ie what do I think of the service and would I recommend to a friend
I haven't used the service yet!!! As I am still alive and how can I recommend to a friend when I am dead lol

Not Spaghetti, I wondered if it was real too so checked out the Amazon site for Veet for men and sure enough it's there, only it doesn't show reviewers name just says Amazon customer.
Quite a few others seem to agree with him about the burning.
Just a thought, why did he think having hairless tackle would be a treat for his wife?

yes,I get fed up with these,I usually ignore them now.
I once reviewed a hula hoop,as I was pleased with it,as it came in sections,so could make it smaller for my granddaughter.Someone asked me questions about my review,why hadn't I mentioned weight and dimensions,I thought, well I'm not the seller,I was just giving an opinion.So I've not bothered much since.

I always review as I depend on them for helping decide what is best to buy. However, I ordered some printed socks for DGS (from China) in November. Got to the arrival date, no socks, so did the review stating that they hadn't arrived. I had a reply from seller saying they would refund me but could I take off the review. By this time Christmas had been and gone so I said I wouldn't as I was disappointed that it was a Christmas present that hadn't arrived. Got the refund but didn't take off the review. The socks arrived 2 days ago - over 2 months after ordering.

I like reading reviews before I buy and I think I have saved lots of money. Sometimes on a book review, it seems like a good read and then someone will write that is has bad language, lots of sex scenes or violence.

I did once read a book review on Amazon where someone gave it 1 Star qualified by “I have not had time to read it yet”

I shop online a lot, often with Amazon because of their fast delivery. I do read reviews particularly when buying household and garden equipment and tools. I have found reviews on Screwfix very helpful when buying tools and accessories. I will write reviews if I think I can say something helpful about the product (perhaps not mentioned by the seller) but I like to wait until I've been able to test it properly. Reviews are subjective as there will always be someone who has a bad experience with a product and it is usually those people who will post a negative review, so I also like to give praise where it's due, and I appreciate that small businesses often rely on positive reviews to boost their ratings with search engines etc. I have never been asked to review our doctors practice, but I would if asked as it's a small village practice and it needs all the help we can give it or we might lose it.

Having bought most of my Xmas presents on Amazon It amazes me to be inundated with requests for reviews before the presents have been unwrapped ,or indeed tried on, or listened to, or read!!

I refuse to review anything. Wool, clock mechanism, books, batteries, Buttons,candles, shower caps, are only a few of the ridiculous things I have bought and been asked to review recently. It's a waste of time. I have often commented that .
