Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining in South Yorkshire, but it snowed in the night so we have a good covering. DS has cancelled his visit for lunch and football and DH is not risking the drive to the ground either. He will watch the rugby instead. So another quiet day in store. Have a safe day folks.

Good morning, from a reasonably bright Wiltshire. Hoping the huge amounts of snow, we had yesterday disperses soon. Six Nations Championships started yesterday, so I will be a rugby widow for the next few weeks. Invitations out and to us will all be juggled according to the fixtures??

Morning all from a very snowy, icy Hampshire.
Due to go to a craft session this am, but really do not like driving in these road conditions.
Have a safe day and take care

Good Evening all Sickies; Lovely 36C today as forecast; 39C tomorrow!
Take care! Don't do any As over Apex; they never look elegant! blush

Good morning all.
Currently -1 in Stockport, traces of Wednesday's snow still lingering but a clear blue sky and very sunny.
Nothing to do today but a Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon so I can eat well for a couple of weeks if the weather stays cold.

Good morning all, what a lovely friendly thread this is (I’m new). We have some snow here, left over from Thursday, nothing serious. Today the sick elm tree comes down, such a shame, but it will be firewood next year or the year after. I’m going to skype with DS in HongKong, new DGD due Valentines Day. Enjoy your day, go carefully.

Good morning all from a snowy Aberdeenshire. At last, the snow has hit us but there's not enough to say that we are snowed in. I think we are more used to copeing with nasty white stuff than some further South.
Shall continue with cupboard cleaning out today in readiness for clearing a shelf for dog food etc. when my hairy lodger comes for his extended stay.
I enjoyed the rugby last night, but neither the French or Welsh teams could be described as bonny! Let's see what Scotland can do today.
Have a warm, safe day everyone.

Good morning from snowy North Yorkshire. Heavy snowfall last evening while I was at the village quiz. Fortunately it was just a short walk home. Quiet day today.
Stay safe and warm everyone.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Hope everyone has a good day x

Good morning from a sunny but very cold south east. Thankfully we haven't had any more snow.

Grandson aged 4 stayed last night and we were woken this morning to the sound of his cars whizzing around a track, a late Christmas present from his uncle and girlfriend, the batteries will surely be worn out by the end of the day. I've bought him new welly boots so shall probably venture out in those later today. Other than keeping him amused, not a lot planned for today.

Welcome to you Geryfelin ..?

Morning all. Very exciting, the postcode lottery is our local area. Daughter and plenty of others off to Harefield today to find out how much they’ve won.

Annapops Sat 02-Feb-19 09:19:39

Morning all from County Durham.

No kitchen delivery yesterday as the van couldn't get down the snowy bank to our house.
Still more of the white stuff fell last night so DH off with his shovel on a mission.
We will need to get the car moving for me to catch the train to Stirling this evening as DGD1 is dancing in The Nutcracker there on Sunday. It will be lovely watching her and spending some time with DD2 who will still be recovering from her school's Ofsted inspection. I'm pleased to say all went well.
Take care all you who are out and about today.

Good morning everyone from a bright Essex by the sea, so much nicer than the torrential rain we had all day yesterday. Off out for breakfast once I've had a shower then to help other grandparents with 20 month old twins this afternoon. Their parents are away skiing til tomorrow. Looks icy outside, take care everyone.

BlueSapphire Sat 02-Feb-19 09:37:45

Good morning everyone. It's very frosty but bright in Northampton and will venture out later to Sainsbury's once everything starts thawing out a bit.

Decided against shopping trip yesterday, so stayed in and made a large batch of soup in the pressure cooker.

All our snow had gone by lunchtime yesterday, so had an uneventful walk to pick the DGDs up from school.

Take care today everyone.

Auntieflo Sat 02-Feb-19 09:41:17

Morning Michael, Annie, and all. The sun is shining and the sky is blue, and no more snow overnight, but it is probably icy outside.
Yesterday, the two little girls opposite, built a very handsome snowman, with the help of their dad. Unfortunately he( the snowman) toppled over in the afternoon, but they and their friends had a fierce snowball fight.
We were going to our usual coffee morning today, but it is closed until Tuesday ?.
I have been trying to get through to Boots, to see if my prescriptions are on order, as the last two months were completely messed up. They are not answering the phones!!
Have a safe weekend one and all.

Good morning All x
A lovely bright sunny morning in Wirral----no snow for us and the sun is strong enough to melt away the residues of the odd icy patches which were left at the beginning of the week. It's just delightful out. That sun is so warm !

Tissues for MaryDoll when she watches War Horse !

Stay safe those of you who got the worst of the weather.

Mythbirtthedragon Sat 02-Feb-19 10:05:42

Good morning from east London where the sun is shining and the field outside is green. No plans for the day although a leg stretch will be fitted in.

NanKate Sat 02-Feb-19 10:11:02

Happy new beginnings Susan ?

A Happy Birthday to your DD Kitty. You must have been a child bride ?

DH says the roads are ok for us to go to the theatre tonight to see ‘Sun Records The Concert’. I bet Mick has seen it.

Susan56 Sat 02-Feb-19 14:53:13

Thank you for the lovely messages on our happy news.xx

Mapleleaf Sat 02-Feb-19 15:59:40

Good afternoon, everyone.

I didn’t have time to post this morning as I had to go out early for a hairdresser appointment.

No snow in our village today, just a keen frost first thing, but a mile or so down the road there was a covering. Strange how it can differ so much by just few miles.

Hello and welcome Geryfelin. I hope you are going to enjoy GN.

MawBroon Sat 02-Feb-19 17:50:59

Not quite sure why Rufus refers to us in the Northern Hemisphere as “sickies”? (8.48 am)
From my encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Australian, gleaned from the DDs watching Neighbours in their teens, a “sickie” is something you “throw “ when you want to skive off work! confused

NanKate Sat 02-Feb-19 22:51:11

It’s a mystery to me Maw.
