What are you trying to prove Rufus ?
Mick’s “Good Morning” thread is friendly, harmless, a pleasant start to the day, a snapshot of weather over the country and a contact for some members who may not post again all day.
So why have you got it in for it? Why the needlessly bitchy (yes) jibes and digs at someone who cannot defend himself - it’s like gossiping about someone once they have left the room.
It’s a cheap laugh, smacks of an attempt at oneupmanship or resentment of one of the few other men we see on GN

Shandi: Good (Thursday) Morning: Brilliant, sunny, it's 8.00am and I slept like an innocent Babe! Thought I'd have a look, only to find you're still at it! My word, there were/are some short fuses. For the record, there is a thread for teachers to pontificate, which I started, for UK experts to compare with OZ, but they seem to prefer Mick's cafe. I wish they'd go there and leave this thread for it's intended purpose.
Meanwhile every one here is being urged to look out for the elderly and pets with the prospect ahead of extreme heat; fortunately I qualify on both counts!

Personally, I'm glad they are not deep! Less calories. They are only small so I may risk the odd one.

I like Lidl Portuguese custard tarts too, but if I have a little grumble it is that they, and the other supermarkets who are now making them, do not make them deep enough. But, any port in a storm?!

Bought myself a Portuguese custard tart from Lidl last week and agree they are lovely - will treat myself to another next time I go there

Well said NanKate and Greyduster and all who are rooting for our Mick. Some of the nasty comments have come from newbies. Why don’t they just settle in first before deciding to stir things up and have a go at someone who has never been anything but polite and a jolly good chap.

Good late afternoon. Up early to a really bright cold day and we decided that my fitness levels had improved so much that today we go up one of the Welsh Valleys and cycle a long up stretch. We where we decided to park it was another world, snow everywhere and would probably be worse higher up. So we turned around and drove to our favourite coffee shop where we spent a pleasurable two hours eating, drinking and chatting before heading home. Day not wasted it was a day out.

Having a poke at Mick is pure mischief. The perpetrators, deprived of oxygen, will get bored and the mischief will die a death. This thread has run for a long time in a form that has been acceptable to all. It will not be allowed to be brought low.

Why are posters being nasty about Mick, how terribly unkind and unnecessary.

Well the snow came today. Not much thankfully. Popped into Lidl, only to find that they now sell those Portuguese custardy tart things, freshly baked, in their bakery. They are delicious. Bye bye resolutions.

Yes, very well said NanKate. Although I rarely post on this thread, I enjoy waking up and saying a virtual good morning to all the contributors. As Mick started the thread some years ago, I cannot imagine why others think they should hijack it for no reason other than possibly wanting to be first . Maybe they should consider starting their own daily threads on slightly different topics, such as 'TeaTime' or one for Rufus2 maybe, 'In the Midnight Hour'.

This was a lovely warm secure thread until a few posters have made it their business to stir up trouble.

Mick would be horrified to see all these questioning nasty posts. To my knowledge he has never offended anyone and has asked for NO favours.

I am on the point of bashing my head up against the fall and using words not in my usual vocabulary. So to stop that happening please just keep quiet about Mick and enjoy the daily chat here.

I suspect a few people are getting a perverted pleasure from stirring things up. All I can say is others have tried this and got absolutely nowhere.

Snow is sticking here in Cheshire. Rufus2 makes me envious every day. Perhaps we'll get our revenge this summer!
