Blue Monday?

AlieOxon I was awake too and looked out of every window in the house so presumed it was too cloudy but people have put photos on my local site so I can only presume it was lying lower than the big houses in front of me. grrrr
I don’t think today is any more blue than any other winter day they can all be boring and dull and miserable
I had lunch with a good friend today and going to the cinema tomorrow so no bad for me

I was having quite a good day, and then I got a letter from the hospital with the date of my dreaded next thyroid appointment. Inconvenient day, time and place, and I now can’t get anywhere by myself but have no family here to help, and my friends are as decrepit as I am.

It is no longer a good day.

I thought it was last Monday? Whichever, just another day as far as I'm concerned! And grateful I'm not in a hospital or hospice or disabled.

Blue Monday was actually invented by Sky Travel a number of years ago in order to encourage more holiday bookings

I don't take any notice of so called days, if it's grey & gloomy in January it's a "blue day". Sunny days lift my spirits. Good day as no brown envelope from DVLA so I can drive today, waiting for decision as to whether I can carry on driving for another year I year licence on Medical grounds , waiting to hear from PIP, enquiry form sent in back in November, I rang at end of November & was informed they are taking longer than normal

Lunch was Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs, Dinner will be a hearty Chicken Casserole which I'm off to make now. Comfort food

I missed the red moon but I did see a beautiful red sunrise over the river Clyde this morning but you know what they say about red sky in the morning! It’s now cold, wet and windy here....
.... but I’m not feeling blue. I retired at Christmas and from time to time I almost have to pinch myself to remind myself that I don’t have to go to work again. I’m loving the freedom but also getting down to all the odd jobs I’ve been putting off for years.

It's no sure and certain cure but I always go to YouTube when I'm feeling down (July is winter here) and search 'Peter Kay misheard lyrics' - I can't help laughing at that.

It gives me enough of a boost to make a cup of coffee, look at the photos of my family and count my blessings.

I actually loved today, it was dry and cold we have been out all day cycling in the very cold Welsh countryside. I had two lots of thermal leg coverings, two pairs of socks and gloves on and fours layers on my top half plus hat and face covering. Even forgot it was Monday. I think it was called black Monday because it is near everyone's payday and most people are short of money after Christmas.

Haven't noticed at all. Far to busy taking and fetching GS to and from school. Managing DS and DILs house, entertaining GS, homework, washing, cooking, cleaning and now off to do bedtime story. Phew!

I must be strange. I love January.Quiet,calm,read all my new books from Xmas.Notice the days getting a little bit longer.New stuff on the TV.My worst month is November when days are getting shorter,everyone seems stressed and busy and the build up to Xmas starts way too early.
Admittedly it was cold and damp today but had my lovely little DGD stay overnight so woke to big hugs ,and dropping her off at nursery she kissed me and said have a nice day grandma and tell grandpa to have a nice day.So I decided that's what I would do.I do have a lovely warm cosy house to come home to after working outdoors -which helps as I see every bit of daylight- and a thoughtful DH who cooked me a nice meal.
I can well imagine if you have a long day at work,and commute in the dark it's a different matter.Or a grumpy other half ,or relationship or money worries it's a different story though.Hope everyone starts to feel a bit brighter soon.

I think I am one of the few people who doesn't mind grey days, quite likes winter and loves Mondays, since I no longer have to get up and go out to work. I still get a delicious thrill (still) that I can do whatever I please with my Mondays.

I quite like it that when I go out on dull days there aren't so many people about. If I stay in I feel I can have days with books and lots of tea, my computer or catch up TV programmes. I am happy doing nothing!

I am sorry for those having problems and difficulties. I am sure the grey days don't help.

Yes both of you are right, the days are getting longer, we are retired and Mondays are no different from any other day. In fact its quite hard to remember which day it is. I also think late November and December are the worse months. Spring is on its way I have a bunch of daffys on the table already.

Monday is child care day for me, so having a 2 year old in the back of the car pointing out with huge excitement “birds!” “Windmills!” (Wind turbines) and “sheep!” Can’t help but make you smile and cheer up a January day.
