I initially didn't want Charles to marry Camilla but now I can see that she makes him very happy. So no I don't believe that there is any trouble in their marriage and I wish them continued happiness for the future.

Was in America last Autumn and one magazine there suggested that Camilla has been sectioned because of her ‘mad’ behaviour.

Four months later, all still seems calm in Royal circles!

Not a fan of either of them but I don't for one minute believe this rubbish.

You only have to look at them to see the love they have for each other!!!

Prince Philip's mother was in fact a diagnosed sufferer of schizophrenia and in spite of her severe mental illness, her profound deafness and her traumatic experiences in life she did a lot of good.

I suppose you meant no harm Ellen and I have no problem with lighthearted references to people being as 'mad as a box of frogs', but I feel uncomfortable when I come across that term being used for people with a diagnosed mental illness. I wonder how someone on Gransnet would feel about being a sufferer and reading themselves being described in those terms?

I agree, "mad as a box of frogs" is fine for someone quirky/accentric/funny but not okay in the context of mental illness

I've worked in a mental hospital, known in my day as an asylum and in the 50's things were a lot different back then when schizophrenics were seen " in all their glory " and hastily treated by a paraldehyde injection before they killed someone !!

The sympathy I have is for all carers of those with this dreadful illness where psychotic attacks can appear out of the blue in those whose medication is either not taken or reduced for some unknown reason.

Those who know me accept me for what I am and wouldn't dream of pulling me up.

I was in a shop recently where the magazines were on display by the checkout queue.
One stood out as it was said that Camilla had warned Meghan's mother to keep her hands off "my man" presumably Charles.
This was after it had been reported she was staying at Sandringham for Christmas.

EllanVannin, you get pulled up because you are offensive towards people who have this terrible affliction. We all have sympathy for the carers but that doesn't mean we have to describe the patients as mad as a box of frogs. Jeez, you're insensitive.

Yes EllanVannin I can believe you worked in an Asylum in the fifties , you use terms for mental illness which thank God those who work in mental health now are far more understanding and wouldn’t use such terms.

Having respect for those who suffer from mental illness doesn’t take ‘walking on eggshells ‘ .
