I don't know about your problems Pheonix, but your post has given me hope. I'm just trying to support my grandaughter through a difficult break up and convincing her that 'this too, shall pass'. Very best wishes to you - a lovely post.

I remember well phoenix but it was primarily your own strength (and that of *mr p*) that got you through and as a couple you provided an excellent
example of integrity and determination.

What a lovely post to start the day. As a newbie I don’t know anyone’s back story and it’s wonderful to hear how helpful and supportive Gnetters were to Phoenix and to know that two years later, life is much better for her and Mr P. I’ve loved her recent amusing posts.

Gransnet seems such a warm and friendly site, has a few not so nice folk as any group does and they make more noise than their numbers merit. Thank goodness for those who take the time to be helpful, kind, welcoming and supportive.

Talking is always the best therapy in any situation whatever it might be. People need to unburden and to release their worries and problems to those who are interested and will listen to help with a solution.

My step-daughter rang me last night and she was in pieces because she'd just lost her life-long friend from schooldays and into an hour of the call her spirit lifted slightly, then when the call finished at 1.30am this morning she felt much better and was able to settle for the rest of the night.
I've always been here for her----more like a big sister relationship as there's only 9 years between us.

Phoenix, you've had many a 'hard row to hoe' and it's cheering to know that things have improved so much over the past two years. Your brilliant, humorous contributions have raised my spirits all these years on Gransnet, and it would be easy to assume that these were an outward reflection of a light-hearted attitude to life when, of course, like the swan you have been 'paddling like hell' underneath. You have embodied what Gn is all about and we love you for it. Happy Christmas to you and Mr P ?

I remember that really tough period you went through and I'm really glad you got some help from Gransnetters, but, as others have said, it was your own good humour and doggedness that got you through it. Merry Christmas, old friend.
