What do we feel about his public appeal for contact with his daughter. He says he texts every day but has heard nothing from her since the wedding. Apparently he has contacted the Queen for her help.

I doubt Doria was invited to Sandringham in the first place and it's only press speculation that she was going to move in with Harry and Meghan. Why on earth would she want to when she can visit at any time she likes and will no doubt have her own rooms at Frogmore Cottage?

Non royals don't stay at the 'big house' and imagine poor Doria walking in on a family bust-up at Anmer? grin No wonder she's staying away.

Anniebach Tue 18-Dec-18 14:37:49

Doubt the palace are bothered, they weathered Diana, Al Fayed and more . They will remain silent as they did when the country was out for queenie’s blood.

It seems obvious to me that Thomas Markle isn't going to keep quiet as he sees the media as his only way of attempting to put his point of view across., and to indirectly communicate his feelings to his daughter.

Of course he did behave badly with the fake photos, but he is certainly paying for that mistake now.

The Royals aren't completely blameless either. It was so strange that Harry never met him before the wedding.

He does seem completely heartbroken to have no contact with Meghan, and I don't think she is doing her public image any good by completely shutting him out.

Surely she could give him an ultimatum, that she would resume contact on the proviso that he has absolutely no contact with the press at all?

She is coming across as quite a cold hearted, self serving woman.

For all his faults, he is her father, and as he said she wouldn't be where she is today had he not been able to afford a good education for her.

Sparklefizz Tue 18-Dec-18 16:33:15

JenniferEccles How do you know that Harry didn't meet Thomas Markle before the wedding?

Anniebach Tue 18-Dec-18 16:47:01

Jennifer. harry is a man in his thirties, he doesn’t need anyone to arrange a meeting with his girlfriends father, he always what he wants

Day6 Tue 18-Dec-18 16:57:23

Mr Markle has made it plain that he hasn't met his son in law. She is married to a royal, has become very high profile but she and Harry have managed to alienate all her American relatives, including the father she (seemingly) loved and appreciated.

If my children had excluded me like that for no good reason I would be heart-broken.

In many ways I can see why he speaks out. Why should you give a thankless, and rather heartless daughter an easy ride? He knows it will make news. Harry and Meghan don't need protection. No one can get near them. They perhaps do deserve their selfish and cruel abandonment highlighted though

Meghan could very easily have flown to be with her father to assure him all was well and she cared, if she'd needed or wanted to.

The royals have planes, trains and automobiles at their service and a whole host of security and influential people who can move them around without anyone knowing or being aware. It would have been comparatively easy for Mr Markle to meet the couple.

I am not a huge fan of the royal family but I have no time for Harry and his Duchess at all.

Anniebach Tue 18-Dec-18 17:03:44

With you on this Day6, but I think Harry is right under her thumb , he isn’t going to disagree with her. Even given up grouse shooting to please her, and no one can deny Harry doesn’t enjoy blood sports.

I think they will leave Sandringham straight after Christmas Day for America, no need for her mother to fly here.

Day6 Tue 18-Dec-18 17:13:03

I suppose Harry has his life mapped out now. He is no longer the 'spare heir' so can live a comparatively normal family life in his own place with his wife and child. He will continue to have wealth and privileges though - rather undeserving I'd say. Will he get a job one wonders?

There is really no need for them to be high profile, but I daresay the press/media will be following their every move.

I for one hope they will fade away once they move to Frogmore. Wishful thinking.

Anniebach Tue 18-Dec-18 17:33:56

I think they will do the oversea tours , Harry does little in this country but loves travelling, so they will be on the tv screens often. William and Kate have been on several visits in this country recently but it isn’t reported . So yes Day6, wishful thinking, I dread them doing America , she is referred to as princess Megan there, they have no idea she is a minor royal

JenniferEccles Tue 18-Dec-18 17:46:47

Given the fact that Harry knows only too well what it is to lose a parent, I would have thought he would have done all he could to encourage his wife to make contact with her father.

It does appear he did have heart surgery, so is clearly not in the best of health.

I imagine though that as Harry is so obviously besotted with Meghan, that he wouldn't try to change her mind if she had stated she wanted no further contact with her father.

After all he was quoted as saying to a palace aide "what Meghan wants Meghan gets"

Sparklefizz Tue 18-Dec-18 19:26:53

Mr Markle has made it plain that he hasn't met his son in law....

But he has lied so many times. How do we know when he's telling the truth? He may have lied about not meeting Harry too. I don't believe a word he says about anything.

Even the Americans doubted the hospital letter he suddenly produced 6 months later which he said "proved" he had heart treatment at the time of the wedding, and said the letter did not look legitimate.

Anniebach Tue 18-Dec-18 19:28:08

What lies as he told ?

Sparklefizz Tue 18-Dec-18 19:35:42

JenniferEccles Surely she could give him an ultimatum, that she would resume contact on the proviso that he has absolutely no contact with the press at all?

Perhaps she thinks the same as I do ... that his word can't be trusted., that he would sell the story and tell the media what was said (he's already done that with one of his conversations with Harry), that the press would "suddenly turn up" and he would deny all knowledge (he's done that, too). We have no idea how many times he might have let her down when she was a child.

He's good at laying on the old emotional blackmail, but we are only hearing his "poor me" act and as the RF never answer back or explain (with the notable exception of Diana), we don't hear how many times Meghan might have tried to make peace and not succeeded. The palace have commented that he won't allow his daughter to help him and that he's a "proud man", which is rather kind of them, I think, because to me he seems to have no pride at all.

To me he seems like the dad from hell, he is only thinking about himself, and no daughter would want her father saying all these things about her, whoever she might be.

Sparklefizz Tue 18-Dec-18 19:48:10

The Daily Mail have photos taken of him buying junk food when he was still claiming to be in hospital.

Foxyloxy Tue 18-Dec-18 19:57:23

Ah! Some people will do anything for attention. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear. He wants some of her limelight. God forbid if he was my father, I would be whispering some words in his ear, and they would be blue.?

Anniebach Tue 18-Dec-18 19:58:04

Sparkle, it is fair to say ‘we have no idea how many times he let her down as s child* ? As we have no idea the answer could be ‘ not once’ .

Iam64 Tue 18-Dec-18 20:05:27

Ok sides seem to be being taken, so I'll line up with sparkle fizz and foxyloxy and everyone else who has suggested Mr M may not be his own best representative on earth.

Most of us will have known or even been related to people who we eventually realise won't change. It doesn't matter how well we behave, how hard we try to mediate, to resolve conflict, how often we believe 'it's going to be ok, s/he gets it now" - only to find things get worse, not better. It seems to be to be naive, to say the least to think that if MM or Prince H, or indeed anyone from or representing the RF attempted to smooth things over with Mr M, that all would be well. His track record strongly suggests he'd be off to be interviewed by the Highest Bidder. His other delightful adult children, could then also be interviewed, could write endless column inches in which they put their own spin on whatever it was alleged had been said to Mr M.

Anniebach Tue 18-Dec-18 20:07:08

Both parents paid for her private education, letting her down?

Sparklefizz Tue 18-Dec-18 20:20:51

Well put Iam64.
Perhaps it is only those of us who have encountered someone like Mr M who can see through him.

Sparklefizz Tue 18-Dec-18 20:22:02

It's interesting, is it not, that his son has been estranged from Mr M since 2011 but has been apparently trying to reconcile since the wedding.

Sparklefizz Tue 18-Dec-18 20:23:38

Both parents paid for her private education, letting her down?

Money isn't everything, Anniebach. A child can be let down emotionally in much more harmful ways, as my own children could testify re their father.

Anniebach Tue 18-Dec-18 20:31:15

Sparkle I have been waiting for the press to have a hand writing expert to say the letter written by her in 2015 addressing him as Darling Daddy was not her hand writing.

I wish he would stop these interviews, accept she will not contact him and get on with his life . But I think calling him trailer trash as a poster has done was uncalled for . If he is one wonders about the mother marrying trailer trash

Davidhs Tue 18-Dec-18 20:58:30

Very difficult for her, she will be damned if she doesn't contact him but if she does every word is likely to be publicised. In addition it could open a can of worms, a never ending emotional blackmail campaign that the media would love.
Probably least worst option is no contact

janipat Tue 18-Dec-18 23:41:14

I'm no Royal sycophant, believing most of them are an unnecessary expense, but the animosity and downright hostility displayed by Anniebach and co leaves me speechless! Question every supporting post of why the estrangement has happened but believe every single quote by Mr Markle and her step-sister? You have to be obsessionally anti Harry and Megan to take that stance. I don't know the full story, as do none of us, but there seems to be a whole lot of venom coming across the pond, and I just cannot believe it's all deserved. I trust children's instinct. From what I can see children are drawn to Harry and Megan.

Pythagorus Wed 19-Dec-18 00:22:01

I don’t care a jot about the new Duchess’s father, mother or any of her family. Not interested in her, her bump or anything about her. I find this press obsession most odd .... there must be more interesting things to report in the press.
