Free Bleeding - another fad?

Has anyone heard of this idea.
It is that women shouldn't be made to feel in any way uncomfortable about the menstrual flow, and can choose not to wear sanitary protection if they so choose.

Washable pad companies are much better at making wide ranges for different sizes, shapes and flows.

I suppose that once you are in the habit of washing pads then washing blood in gussets seems like a non issue

notanan2 You say that you just bung your blood-stained knickers in with the normal wash, but at what temperature do you wash all these clothes? If I were washing heavily blood-stained items, I would need to do them on a much hotter wash than my usual clothing in order to get them clean.

Mine were put in a bucket of napisan before being machine washed.

Sparklefizz Tue 20-Nov-18 19:47:21

Napisan is a bleach product isn't it? I used to use it for the children's nappies. notanan2 was horrified further back when I mentioned bleach.

Love it Lemon. This thread has given me loads of laughs. Can't believe I've been typing the word "gusset" online! Who'd have thought??? grin

Marthjolly1 Wed 21-Nov-18 09:30:18

Well said lemongrove

Jalima1108 Wed 21-Nov-18 11:58:35

Sparklefizz that would probably 'set' the stain; they would need a soak in cold water and perhaps some salt first.
Probably just the gusset grin
What a faff! Probably better to buy new knickers - knicker manufacturers must be rubbing their hands in glee!

Jalima1108 Wed 21-Nov-18 11:59:44

that was in answer to this Aparkle

You are so right, lemongrove. Succinctly put! ???

EllanVannin Wed 21-Nov-18 16:06:45

lemongrove it had been at the back of my mind but me being sort of new here I thought I'd better keep my one-liners until I've got my feet under the table. However you saved me the job of saying it hahahaha. Say it like it is !

notanan2 Wed 21-Nov-18 17:21:04

As Jamilall said, if you are boil washing protein stains you are "cooking them in" so no wonder you find blood stains troublesome.

No boil washing here & no stain issues, however as stated before I wash blood stains promptly so they haven't dried in anyway. Doesn't need to soak out if never left to properly dry in. In a busy family home with usually daily loads in the machine its no extra washing/hassle to wash promptly.

HTH smile

notanan2 Wed 21-Nov-18 17:22:51

P.s. unlike faeces in nappies, period blood doesn't come out full of bacteria, so there is really nothing for bleach to act on (unless you leave it to rot for weeks. Which I dont, its washed when still fresh)

Bellanonna Wed 21-Nov-18 18:08:52

You revel in these conversations don’t you notanan? Agreed, I don’t have to read them. I’m wondering whether you have the same conversations face to face with other people. I somehow doubt it.
