People are clueless it's terrifying.
We have had several dogs from farms and environments that are totally different to that of our own and we go almost overboard with the safety precautions until they are settled in and know every road, route and way to and from the house.
At this time of year even our own well-trained, settled and confident dogs don't go outside in the dark without leads and LED collars to make them visible should they for any reason get spooked or startled by fireworks etc.
