It's been a lovely autumn day here, Rufus Harry doesn't know what he's missing.

We used to have an army surplus store in our local town. They were popular in the seventies but sadly my trench coat and green woollen jumper with padded sleeves have rotted!

I just feel my observations were totally misunderstood but it is so irrelevant to the important things in life ( well certainly in mine) that I will just leave it.

Wrong thread should have put my post on "Sussex Baby" following on from a comment there.

The media are already speculating on names, the bookies are taking bets on what sex the baby will be. How long before they start guessing 'red hair or dark skin?' It's only a matter of time!

Merlotgran; Aren't Harry and Meghan wonderful! They've already performed miracle No.1 out at drought-stricken Dubbo this morning, when the heavens opened up just in time for the many thousands of worshippers, who had been gathering since dawn, to give the Royal visitors a real Aussie welcome and to hear Harry's speech. Umbrellas, which I thought had become obsolete in Dubbo and elsewhere, sprouted up like mushrooms, and unlike Trump, who neglected the First Lady, Harry did protect Meghan from the elements.
Harry said it was their gift to Dubbo! Wonderful! Pity about the flies out at the farm, but at least Harry was adept at the "salute"!
And don't H and M know how to "work" a crowd? Our TV presenters, mainly youngish ladies, were in raptures, especially when the toddlers appeared on camera and when Harry met his old "flame" in Sydney. Absolutely wonderful!
So there you are Merlotgran; I don't imagine they were even thinking of you.!
Btw. Your dress code seems like it was a war time Land Army Girl outfit.

According to a YouGov poll, out of all the regions in Britain, Scotland is the least interested in the news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting.

To the surprise of literally nobody, figures show only 23% of Scots care about Meghan's pregnancy, as opposed to 41% of people in the south of England and 36% of people in the north.

Across Britain only 35% of people were bothered that the couple, who just broadcast their £32 million (according to Bride Book) wedding to a country suffering from years of Tory austerity, would soon be welcoming another tax-funded angel into the world – imagine that!

People in Wales and the Midlands weren't too excited about the joyous news either. Some 64% of people there said they explicitly were not interested in the announcement, not far off the 71% in Scotland who say they're not bothered.

Back before their wedding in May, we heard lots about how Meghan and Harry were supposed to re-energise the ageing royal family.

Maybe the monarchy's PR people need to rethink their marketing strategy ...

Ha Ha, Rufus. According to our newspapers it was Meghan who protected Harry from the rain.

I wear an updated version of the Land Army uniform these days as I tend my acres but it's been so warm my sludge green fleece is still hanging in the dunny.

though I'm a devout supporter. It's our computer class day so I'll have to watch it later on TV, just like you.
One things for sure! This visit will have pushed back the campaign for an Aussie republic by at least 50 years I reckon!

Merlotgran; Of course she was!; Although Harry is very gifted, I imagine reading a speech whilst holding an umbrella would be rather tricky. Elsewhere he did act the chivalrous gentleman part. As they say, "an Englishman and a Gentleman"
Btw. Don't leave your outfit hanging in the Dunny for too long, else it might begin to smell like one, unless that's the effect you're after.

Rufus2, have just seen the news and it featured Harry & Meghan in Melbourne. Apparently they took a tram ride to the beach and it looked very much like Port Melbourne.

They look very happy to be in your beautiful country, big crowd wherever they go.

Well i m glad aussieland loves them I think they are a fun, and lovely happy and sparky young couple who bring a breathe of fresh air to the rather dour family and guess what I m not even a lover of the royals ???

Granny; they certainly draw the crowds and cheers. Did you catch the shot on the drive outside Govt. House when Harry cuddled that girl with the Aussie flag? She absolutely broke up with emotion./ Harry's outfit must have been soaked with her tears; wonderful!; fortunately not with rain. Not a bad day weatherwise for Melbourne.

Just to set all the Brit minds at rest, Harry and Meghan have have done their job in Oz admirably with great grace and charm. They have even brought rain where it was needed (no mean feat) and have been all round good sorts. Praise indeed from an Ozzie with strong Republican tendencies. They are a lovely young couple and I wish them and their future family all the best.

On the contrary Ruff The weather here in the NE is absolutely glorious for Autumn, bright sunshine and amazing colours. So plenty to feel joyous about other than a an over privileged guy and his pregnant missus.

I was told when I moved south that the line went from the Bristol Channel to The Wash. Everywhere north of that consisted of rows of little terraced houses, no countryside
