Anyone ready to start knitting royal baby jackets?

annep Thu 25-Oct-18 22:45:30

I really dont want to scroll back through this long thread. ? Personal criticism of clothes or behaviour..anything rude - all covered by nasty. I really am anti RF but I am against the institution. I dont want to get personal.

Anniebach Thu 25-Oct-18 23:36:23

Calling posters nasty but don’t want to get personal!

gillybob Fri 26-Oct-18 07:25:25

I’ve scrolled through most of this thread and haven’t seen one comment I could call nasty annep . Some strong opinions maybe (to which we are all entitled, I think) and a few disagreements (again entitled) but really nothing nasty. hmm

GrannyGravy13 Fri 26-Oct-18 08:09:44

annep the majority of the posts on this thread are positive. I have not noticed any 'nasty' posts, we live in a free society and some of us have strong opinions on the RF.???

eazybee Fri 26-Oct-18 08:21:24

Pregnant women are generally regarded as vulnerable by most societies, therefore it seems at the very least unkind to present a string of negative comments criticising someone who is attempting to fulfil her new role to the best of her ability.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 26-Oct-18 08:28:02

I would like to reiterate that I am 100% for the Royal Family, and think that the current tour seems to have been very well received in the Countries visited.

H &'M seem very much in love and happpy. I hope that the media here and abroad give them privacy when they are not carrying out their Royal duties ???

Anniebach Fri 26-Oct-18 08:36:31

Always has been, always will be different opinions on the RF. Queenie was the serious one, Margaret was the beautiful, fun one. Same with Charles and Andrew, Charles and Diana, Diana and Fergie, now William and Harry , Kate and Megan, it will happen in the future , if the new addition is a girl it will be X and Charlotte.

Some want what queenie has always done, kept private life and duty separate, others want what Margaret gave, glamour, fashion, love affairs.

annep Fri 26-Oct-18 10:29:58

Something wrong with a couple who have to physically display ‘we are sooo in love’ to the world.

This isn't factual really, is it? There are other examples. It depends on one's definition of nasty. (unkind, spiteful, unpleasant...) However its not a word I use often. I picked it up from a post I scanned earlier which I didn't read properly. I should have abandoned reading the thread sooner. It was far too argumentative.sad

annep Fri 26-Oct-18 10:37:56

Anniebach I didnt actually say anyone was nasty. I was talking about comments. Goodness me. I think I will give GN a rest. I'm glad we're not all speaking face to face!

Anniebach Fri 26-Oct-18 10:42:43

Annep, to say a posters opinions are nasty is saying the poster is nasty . I think if this had been a face to face discussion it would not have caused some posters to decide those who didn’t agree with them were nasty.

seacliff Fri 26-Oct-18 10:43:33

I liked some of the later, more colourful clothes Meghan was wearing, rather than the black and navy. I just thought it more summery and appropriate to a hot country, and those colours brought her face alive.

I thought her hair looked good in a neat pony tail rather than the side tendrils which aren't the greatest look in the high humidity.

I know she is learning how to cope with this new role, like all before her. I can't see anything wrong in commenting on her fashion choices.

I hope she and Harry will be very happy.

Anniebach Fri 26-Oct-18 10:55:53

seacliff. I have said I don’t like the black and navy she was always wearing, when she suddenly changed to more colourful clothes I posted how much I liked them, same with her hair.

I hope she will continue to wear more colour when she is back in the U.K.

seacliff Fri 26-Oct-18 11:01:02

I know we both agree on that Annie, but I very much doubt she will listen to us smile

I did read that she was wearing lighter colours and more covered up in Tonga, as mosquitos go for dark colours more. Not sure if that's true.

still support the monarchy over a president
Me too
I've said it before but it's worth repeating:

The dressing-gown coat was nice and light ?

annep Fri 26-Oct-18 11:30:52

I don't agree Anniebach. Thats your opinion. Imo if I say something unkind it doesnt make me an unkind person. I believe in criticising the action not the person. And I hate arguments. And some of this thread is more like an argument than exchange of views. Not helpful. So my last post.

Sparklefizz Fri 26-Oct-18 12:00:39

Me too annep. Why do people take offence so easily nowadays? 16 pages of griping and bitching and taking offence at differences of opinion.

Anniebach Fri 26-Oct-18 12:07:56

Actions are the person surely? How does one seperate a persons actions from the person.

I agree Sparkle much offence has been given by such as saying some posters need to find some hobbies, and claiming some posters are bitching.

Billybob4491 Fri 26-Oct-18 12:14:31

Well said Annep and Sparkle

Anniebach Fri 26-Oct-18 12:15:19

Thinking about clothes and the royals, queenie’s fsvourite clothes are her skirts, jackets and headscarves, yet she always wear bright colours when working so the crowds who turn out to greet her can see her more easily.

And been thinking too about the post saying how lovely it is to see the hand holding instead of the walking a few steps behind like .phillip. Phillip is respecting the Crown which just happens to be worn by his wife.

Jalima1108 Fri 26-Oct-18 14:47:29

Anyone who likes 'bright' will like what Meghan and Harry were wearing in Tonga.

Anniebach Fri 26-Oct-18 14:54:59

The news today referred to Megan as a style icon

Fennel Fri 26-Oct-18 15:16:15

"Phillip is respecting the Crown which just happens to be worn by his wife."
Good point Annie. It must have been difficult for him at times, because he's not naturally a person to hide in the shadows.

Well, I think she is for a lot of younger women.

But, then again, what do I know at my age (and I never knew what was fashionable or not when I was young either).
