Why so spiteful Venus? They're a young couple starting out in married life, surely all of us, whatever we feel about the R.F, can wish them well?!

I thought she looked lovely and he seemed a gentle soul, not sure when to smile and when not to. I liked the way both Mothers went phew when they sat down!

I just saw,a bit on the lunchtime news and didn't think much of the dress much preferred Meghan's. Of course - me being bitchy the poor York girls don't have her beauty or poise. The best thing of all was Fergie's hat looked like a parcel you would put under the Christmas tree. I have family living in Windsor and the security costs could have paid for an awful lot in their local schools.

For me, this wedding helped erase the memory of the ‘Megan look at me day’ which was a circus

I posted on the other thread, but anyway, I thought Eugenie looked really lovely much better than either Kate or Meghan on their wedding days.
She is more natural and looks like fun.

Entirely agree Lemongrove . Thought she was stunning, very demure. Thought her mum was also elegant. I loved her hat, very unusual. There was a time when Andrew and Fergie were pictured sitting in the pew with quite somber faces and I felt quite sorry for them. Anyone whose daughter is walking down the aisle have many thoughts in their heads a summary of theirs and their daughter’s life. The Royals are no different from anyone else and this particular instance I think said it all. However on a lighter note I thought the whole ceremony was just lovely and suited the couple. Well done them.

How about people who take £75,000 to train for NHS as mature students and leave after a couple of years, I know a few of them. That costs us a lot of money.

I second that Marieeliz there are a lot of sour pusses about and, like others earlier on this thread, I too have noticed that there are some very unnecessary snide remarks on many of the threads.
I watched the wedding, not because it was a 'royal' wedding but it was a couple of hours of happiness!
Do those who complain about the cost of security not realise that events like this will always take place, and security is essential for the safety of us all.
How horrific would it be had today's event been subject of a terrorist attack?
I feel we should enjoy a bit of happy news at last!

The head of state and her entire family were at the wedding. It is entirely reasonable for the state to meet the cost of securing HM the Queen and her heirs at such a high profile event.

I imagine if the UK is ever to return to a republic, the overwhelming majority would prefer that to occur quietly, peaceably and safely, rather than by fait accompli in a ghastly terrorist annihilation at a wedding.

I also think it completely reasonable that HM the Queen should be able to attend her granddaughter’s wedding in reasonable safety.

She is guarded appropriately wherever she goes. It is a sad reality that for as long as Britain has enemies, she will be this country’s most high profile target. It is not unreasonable to expect the country of which she is the sovereign to keep her safe.

PS Pippa looked amazing. That’s my favourite colour. She looks so well.

I liked the dress, and thought she looked lovely. I need look no further than my local council to see how money is wasted on less important issues than safety.

I’m surprised that nobody has commented on Eugenie’s decision to deliberately allow her surgical scar to be seen. She had major surgery for scoliosis aged 12 and has long scar down the centre of her spine. A very courageous decision - a lot of brides would have been covered up in this instance. It says quite a lot about her character I think.

Overheard apparently, a comment by an American tourist who, apparently, wondered why Windsor Castle had been built so close to London Airport?!!!! Windsor Castle built 1070, London Airport, 1930!!!!! No answer to that really!!???

I'm not a Royalist and not religious and just switched on TV as about to do some ironing but got caught up in the whole thing. The music was wonderful and thought it was such a traditional wedding very like our own daughter's with the singing of Ave Maria (although a bit different in style and cost - daughter wore my wedding dress!). Alerted DH to the music when Andrea Bocelli started singing Panis Angelicus and ended up watching the rest of the ceremony! Ironing will be done tomorrow!

I didn’t remember her having had that big operation although I don’t really follow the Royals so probably didn’t pick up on it all those years back

I only saw a little bit, but I thought she looked lovely, very happy and I was glad that the weather was fine in that part of the country.
She and her sister seem like very nice girls - despite their privileged position and despite the problems between their parents.

Katek very brave of her to do that, and I understood the surgeon who performed the operation was at the wedding.
I do know something about that condition and the operation involved, which has a chance of paralysis, so it was brave to go ahead with the operation in the first place.

I enjoyed the wedding, and I enjoyed Prince Harry's wedding.
They were just different, no need for snide remarks about either of them, or the difference in the crowd turnout.

I sort of feel that as we are paying for the Royal family, the least they can do is provide us with some entertainment.

I thought this young couple were rather sweet.
